MLB: Los Brewers barrieron..! [ESP/ENG] || OPINION

There are a ton of takes on the Brewers flooding this writer’s mind, and it’s tough to wrap them all up in just a couple of paragraphs. A ballclub that hasn’t punched its ticket to the Fall Classic since 1982, back when we were just 16 years old, goes ahead and sweeps the reigning World Series champs in the LCS after getting wiped out the exact same way last October—that completely earns our respect. And they didn’t just take Game 4 of the ALCS/NLCS to complete the broom job; true to form, they mounted a massive comeback after falling behind by 4 runs. If you want to sum up the Milwaukee Brewers' grit by how they handled this matchup against the Los Angeles Dodgers, just look at their record in come-from-behind wins when their opponent struck first in 2026, including October baseball: 40-37. The only other squad to pull off anything like that in baseball history was the 2009 Yankees (43-41). And yeah, nobody, absolutely nobody saw a sweep over L.A. coming. Unbelievable.

Grandes.

Who was the hero? Obviously, a lot of guys stepped up because this is a team game, but if we have to give a special shoutout to anyone, it’s first baseman Jake Bauers, who actually locked up the NLCS MVP. The reason? He came through in the clutch again, ripping a two-run double in the fourth frame and drawing a bases-loaded walk in the fifth to driving in the tying run. Garrett Mitchell launched a go-ahead solo shot in the sixth, and David Hamilton went yard in the ninth to put the final nail in the coffin. Kiké Hernández lined a dangerous rocket that was tracked down by outfielder Jackson Chourio for the final out, sealing the Brewers' dream trip to the World Series. Pat Murphy could easily become the first skipper to take home Manager of the Year honors three seasons in a row after winning in 2024 and 2025, if the voters look at how this club performed with ice in their veins. Milwaukee clutched home-field advantage and is now waiting on the other pennant winner. Big time.

Lapidario.

Meanwhile at Progressive Field, a total pitchers' duel between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Guardians resulted in an upset, but one well within the realm of possibility. Of course, a tight 3-2 ballgame makes two things crystal clear: the flappy bois' lineup has been ice-cold. In fact, Jhonatan Aranda has yet to collect his first hit of the series, Junior Caminero wore a golden sombrero yesterday with four strikeouts, and Yandy Díaz, well, don't even get me started. The Rays' big three hitters have combined to go a disastrous and unexplainable 5-for-34. On the flip side, Guardians pitchers have been absolutely dealing, completely shutting down their opponent's dangerous offensive tandem. Gavin Williams started yesterday's game, dealing 5 frames with 9 punchouts, and the bullpen slammed the door by throwing 4 scoreless innings of relief. Stone-cold.

Y ¿Saben algo?

And you know what? One defining thing about this ALCS has been the Guardians' unsung heroes. Nathaniel Lowe ripped an RBI double to bring Jo Adell home for the game's first run in the bottom of the second. But it was an unexpected character who completely crushed the Rays' hopes of moving on: a guy named Petey Halpin. The rookie who put up a bleak .326 slugging percentage during the regular season put on his superhero cape to decide the game in the bottom of the fifth, launching a two-run moonshot over the right-field wall. That capped off the scoring, especially given how the nasty boys in the bullpen were absolutely dealing. Now, the Rays unexpectedly find themselves down 2-1 in the series and will have to fight like crazy in Game 4 if they don't want to be back against the wall. On the other side, the Guardians have a beautiful chance today to put this series on ice in a bullpen game. Don't blink.
