Happy Halloween (Michale Myers) Fan Art Drawing [ENG-ESP]

Sin título25.jpg

Hello, dear friends! I hope you’re all doing well. Halloween is celebrated in many parts of the world, and I didn’t want to miss out on contributing to such a fun holiday. I understand that some people dislike it—often due to religious dogmatism—but I’m not interested in those kinds of limiting beliefs. On the contrary, I enjoy celebrations where people can have a good time without hurting anyone else, and that’s exactly what Halloween is all about. To join in the festivities, I’ve created a piece of fan art featuring the fearsome Michael Myers—the iconic villain from the Halloween film series. This nearly immortal, bloodthirsty demon who never stops has served as an inspiration for many other characters in cinema; in fact, whenever I watch the first Terminator movie, I can’t help but think of a metallic Michael Myers who won’t stop until he’s taken down the blonde protagonist—haha! Anyway, without further ado, here is a brief step-by-step look at the process. I hope you enjoy it!

PROCESS

How do we begin? By choosing a suitable background. We’re talking about Michael Myers—the inspiration for all slasher villains—so he deserves nothing less than a dark background; and what could be better than a sheet of black poster board? We start by creating a simple sketch, using nothing more than loose lines to define the eyes, the mouth, and the face as a whole. For this initial step, a white wax crayon is used.

Once the sketch is complete, the next step is to begin filling in the interior to create volume. This process should be carried out in layers. When drawing with a white pencil, you first apply a very light layer to cover the face; then, you begin to identify the areas that require bolder, stronger strokes—typically the spots where light reflects most intensely.

In this way, we gradually cover the entire visible part of the face until the full layer is complete. From this point on, we begin to accentuate the strokes to create the light reflections mentioned earlier. At this stage, there is also a change in the materials used: instead of a white wax-based medium, we switch to a white charcoal tip—which, when mixed with water, produces an even more intense color. This technique allows for better highlighting of the face, eliminating the need to resort to white paint.

Next, we begin painting the most brightly lit areas, applying 3 to 4 layers of color until we achieve the necessary volume to create a reflective effect on the skin—though we must remember that we are painting Michael Myers’ mask, that expressionless mask which conceals the most atrocious crimes. Then, using a black charcoal stick, I begin to give the mask a worn appearance; it also shows signs of impact, which can be seen along the edges. And with that, it is finished.

FINAL WORK

What do you think of the final result? I believe adding the scars to the mask was a great touch, as it fits perfectly with the character’s bloodthirsty, evil nature. My favorite film is the first one—the one that launched the franchise—since I feel the subsequent entries took a direction that stripped away the terror, introducing new, different backstories and origins. The original Halloween film from the 70s is a cult classic; as I mentioned before, it’s the queen of slasher movies and served as a foundational reference for many other characters. I hope you enjoyed my contribution, and I also hope you had a fantastic Halloween! See you soon.

I loved the result and how you achieved that worn effect on the mask. Approximately how long did it take you to make the whole drawing, from the sketch to the scars? I think the detail of the impact marks gives it a lot of personality. Best regards and happy Halloween!
