We got to Diamond Lake yesterday morning good and early and soon had ourselves checked in for the Sprint Relay.

My bike's first corral! Most people were doing the race solo and there were just 6 of us relay teams.

The olympic distance went first at 8am with the swim taking of.

They had a mile swim to do.

Then after the meeting the water was open for warmups.

@stryeyz swam for us, the 400 yard swim.

Her wet suit was very handy for the chilly waters.

Soon the line of swimmers was filing into the water and I headed up to my bike to get ready. It was a bit disconcerting watching the other teams swimmer come in and the cyclist take off but it was just that @stryeyz went in the water near the back of the line.

I got the timer chip on my ankle and was soon on the course with my bike. It was not long before I caught up to the first person on the road which was just the start of the passing. I was shooting for a 20 mph average but was not able to keep the power high enough. I was working pretty hard to keep at speed and found myself cruising by at least 30 other racers. There was a solid little climb right before the end and I left my bike in 13th gear and got out of the saddle for about 3/4 of the climb. As I started the climb I passed a guy as I was out of the saddle and watched him stand and try to keep up with my pace. It was rather interesting to notice.
We had to dismount at the pavements edge then run the last couple hundred feet to the timing mat where I gave the timing band to J who went out on the 5k run. I was whooped after riding as hard as I could. I even got my new 20 min power pr, FINALLY over 200 I hit 207 watts.
This is the longest I have ridden in threshold HR zone.
We waited by the finish line for J to come around the bend and soon enough there he was.

It was a bit more than a 5k but he did good at 34 minutes. We were then 2nd time wise in the relay category, which is where we would stay.

A massive barn spider R found under the water tower.

Our times per. The 2nd transition was super fast as J popped the chip strap off my ankle and tossed it on his then was quickly back over the timing line and onto the run.

The pizza truck was there to feed us all.

And we waited for the awards to start.

We got the 2nd fastest time but were the only mixed in the relay, the others were all female teams. So we got 1st in the mixed relay! And that was with J being 12 years old. We got our 1st place pins as the last ones in the awards. YAY US!

The Noche UFC event went on and there were some solid fights.

I made up bison steaks for dinner along with potatoes and salad which was a good fueling from the effort of the day.

Dumping rain this morning, nearly 3/4" overnight. Have work to do around the house, R has a bday party this afternoon, Utd play City soon, PDC is ongoing, and I need to roll some of the pain spots out.
