Saludos querida comunidad, desde hace un tiempo se viene afianzando cada vez mas la costumbre de regalar flores amarillas en septiembre, pero como es algo mas o menos reciente no había tenido la oportunidad de recibir un encargo de este tipo hasta ahora, pues alguien de mi familia quien también es una de mis mejores clientes me hizo varios encargos de flores pero esta era la mas particular, pues se trata de un girasol reversible que al voltearse tiene la forma de una niña con su vestido de girasol, ella me envió una imagen de referencia y puse manos a la obra porque me encantó la idea ☺️

Greetings, dear community! For some time now, the custom of gifting yellow flowers in September has been gaining popularity. However, since it is a relatively new trend, I hadn’t had the chance to take on an order like this until now. A family member—who is also one of my best customers—placed several flower orders with me, but this one was particularly unique: a reversible sunflower that transforms into a little girl wearing a sunflower dress. She sent me a reference image, and I got right to work because I absolutely loved the idea ☺️.

Proceso / Process

Para esta ocasión usé dos tipos de hilo, el primero era lana acrílica delgada por lo que usé hebra doble y el segundo que era solo el color verde era una lana acrílica mas gruesa, comencé haciendo la cabeza con 6 puntos bajos en un anillo, 6 aumentos por 6 hileras para obtener 42, luego hice 12 hileras sin aumentos pero en la tercera tomé solo la hebra de atrás de las puntadas para marcar la línea del cabello, luego hice 6 disminuciones por 5 hileras para obtener 12 y luego 3 disminuciones para obtener 9.

For this project, I used two types of yarn: the first was a thin acrylic yarn—so I held two strands together—and the second (the green one) was a thicker acrylic yarn. I started the head with 6 single crochet stitches in a magic ring, followed by 6 rounds of increases to reach a total of 42 stitches. Then, I worked 12 rounds without increases, though on the third round, I worked only into the back loops to define the hairline. Finally, I worked 5 rounds of 6 decreases to reach 12 stitches, followed by 3 decreases to finish with 9.

Hice una hilera de 4 aumentos para obtener 12, hice una hilera con 6 aumentos y cambié a hilo marrón para hacer otra hilera con 6 aumentos, hice 24 puntos bajos por tres hileras, hice una hilera mas tomando solo el lado de atrás de las puntadas e hice una hilera de puntos bajos con el borde verde para marcar la línea de la falda, cambie a hilo verde e hice 6 disminuciones por tres hileras.

Con marrón levanté las puntadas para la falda e hice 6 aumentos por tres hileras y una hilera con 3 aumentos, continué con 45 puntos bajos por 12 hileras, por el lado de atrás con verde levanté las puntadas haciendo 6 aumentos por dos hileras, 36 puntos bajos por nueve hileras, una hilera con 6 aumentos y una con 3 aumentos, luego hice puntadas tipo abanico con punto picot en el centro.

I worked a round of 4 increases to reach 12 stitches, then a round with 6 increases; I switched to brown yarn to work another round with 6 increases, followed by three rounds of 24 single crochet stitches. I worked one more round using only the back loops of the stitches and added a round of single crochet in green to mark the skirt’s hemline; then, I switched to green yarn and worked three rounds with 6 decreases each.

Using brown yarn, I picked up stitches for the skirt and worked three rounds with 6 increases each, followed by one round with 3 increases; I continued with 45 single crochet stitches for 12 rounds. Using green yarn, I picked up stitches from the back loops, working two rounds with 6 increases each and nine rounds of 36 single crochet stitches; I added one round with 6 increases and one with 3 increases, then finished with fan stitches featuring a picot in the center.

Uní ambas partes formando dos hileras de 11 pétalos amarillos cada una, aparte para los brazos hice 6 puntos bajos en un anillo y seguí con 7 hileras, rellené solo un poco y cosí a cada lado del cuerpo.

I joined both parts to form two rows of 11 yellow petals each; separately, for the arms, I worked 6 single crochet stitches into a ring and continued for 7 rows, stuffed them lightly, and sewed them to each side of the body.

Para el cabello levanté la puntadas desde la línea dejada en la cabeza, hice 16 mechones de 8 cadenas y 8 puntos medios altos sobre estas. Para el frente hice dos abanicos. Para la parte superior de la cabeza que seria el centro fe la flor hice 6 puntos bajos en un anillo, trabajé tomando solo el lado de atrás en todas las hileras, hice 6 aumentos por 6 hileras y 3 hileras sin aumentos cosí a la cabeza, luego sobre las líneas dejadas en la cabeza repetí la secuencia de 1 puntos deslizado, 3 cadenas y salta un punto para crear la textura. Luego hice las hojas con la madre floral por dentro y envolví el tallo con lana verde.

For the hair, I picked up stitches from the line left on the head and created 16 strands, each consisting of 8 chains followed by 8 half-double crochets worked over them. I made two fan shapes for the front.

For the top of the head—which forms the center of the flower—I worked 6 single crochets into a magic ring, working only into the back loops for every row; I increased by 6 stitches per row for 6 rows, followed by 3 rows without increases, and sewed the piece to the head. Then, using the lines left on the head, I repeated a sequence of 1 slip stitch, 3 chains, and skipping a stitch to create texture. Finally, I made the leaves with a floral wire inside and wrapped the stem with green yarn.

Me tardé dos días en terminar este hermoso girasol reversible y aun tengo otras flores que hacer pero me gustaría que me encargaran otro igual pues disfruté mucho haciéndolo 🥰

It took me two days to finish this beautiful reversible sunflower, and I still have other flowers to make, but I’d love to get an order for another one just like it because I really enjoyed making it 🥰
