I must admit, there are few places as quietly observational as a waiting room. Hahaha, you just sit there, watching the time go by, and end up studying everyone around you. Yesterday, I saw a woman sitting patiently for her turn, completely absorbed in whatever was playing on the news overhead, and I just had to sketch her. The process for this one was all about capturing that posture of quiet patience the crossed legs, the hands resting together, and that focused look under her cap. I wanted to keep the colors down-to-earth and cozy, matching that everyday feel. Every little wobbly line in her jacket and those fun little shoes is just me trying to freeze a fleeting, moment in time before she changes her position. I love to keep it real, human, and full of character. There's something comforting about these little moments in our day, even when we're just waiting for our number to be called. Every stroke of the stylus is proof that a human was sitting there, paying attention to the small details of life. Patience that's my word for today
