Hace unos días recibimos una bonita invitación que disfruté un montón. De la nada ya estábamos en la casa bien aburridos y sin planes de hacer nada más, y uno de nuestros amigos nos llamó para preguntarnos si ya habíamos cenado. La verdad es que yo no tenía ánimos de cocinar en absoluto y estaba en modo ahorro de energía, tratando de pensar en qué iba a pasar a continuación, así que de inmediato respondimos que no teníamos planes y tampoco habíamos cenado.
Así que mi amigo y su esposa nos dijeron que nos arregláramos porque nos íbamos a ir a comer. La verdad es que agradecí muchísimo esa invitación, porque no solamente llegó en el momento justo en el que no quería cocinar, sino que también llegó en el momento justo en el que quería compartir con mis amigos y hacer algo diferente. Pero la mejor parte de todo esto, además de que pudimos pasar un rato agradable con estos amigos que son muy queridos, fue lo que comimos.

A few days ago, we received a lovely invitation that I really enjoyed. Out of the blue, we were at home, bored out of our minds and with no plans to do anything else, when one of our friends called to ask if we’d had dinner yet. The truth is, I really didn’t feel like cooking at all and was in “energy-saving mode,” trying to figure out what to do next, so we immediately replied that we had no plans and hadn’t had dinner yet.
So my friend and his wife told us to get ready because we were going out to eat. To be honest, I was so grateful for that invitation, because not only did it come at the perfect time when I didn’t want to cook, but it also came at the perfect time when I wanted to spend time with my friends and do something different. But the best part of it all—besides getting to spend some quality time with these dear friends—was what we ate.
Igual que la mayoría de las personas, amo muchísimo las hamburguesas, y estas, cuando están deliciosas, me llenan de mucha felicidad. Yo pedí una que tiene un nombre muy venezolano, se llama "la que te conté", y básicamente es una hamburguesa normal, pero tiene una capa enorme de queso fundido y uno de los panes más suaves y deliciosos que he probado en mi vida. Yo la pedí de pollo y la verdad es que estuvo espectacularmente deliciosa.
El sabor estuvo demasiado bueno y tenía la cantidad exacta de todo, ni demasiado ni muy poco. Disfruté muchísimo de cada uno de los bocados, porque tenía un equilibrio en el que cada ingrediente podía apreciarse, y no sé cómo logran eso. Además, la hamburguesa traía una ración de papas que estaban súper crujientes y muy buenas también. Pedí una bebida de papelón con limón y un poco de romero que la verdad estuvo también increíblemente buena.

Like most people, I absolutely love burgers, and when they’re delicious, they make me so happy. I ordered one with a very Venezuelan name—it’s called “la que te conté”—and it’s basically a regular burger, but it has a huge layer of melted cheese and one of the softest, most delicious buns I’ve ever tasted. I ordered the chicken version, and honestly, it was spectacularly delicious.
The flavor was amazing, and it had just the right amount of everything—not too much and not too little. I really enjoyed every single bite because the flavors were so well-balanced that you could taste each ingredient—and I don’t know how they manage to do that. Plus, the burger came with a side of fries that were super crispy and really good, too. I ordered a paperón drink with lemon and a bit of rosemary, which was also incredibly good.
Ahí estuvimos un buen rato disfrutando de cada bocado, así que comimos súper lento, y mientras tanto nos pusimos al día con nuestros amigos contando nuestras experiencias y simplemente riéndonos un poco de la vida. We stayed there for quite a while, savoring every bite, so we ate really slowly, and in the meantime we caught up with our friends, sharing our experiences and just having a little laugh about life.
