Assumption about me | LOH #309 contest week

Hi ladies. Lately I’ve been pretty out of the loop and rather sporadic. But that’s also because I’ve been making changes and improvements in my life. Sooo let’s get to this week’s question.

Tell us about a time when someone made a wrong assumption about you, without knowing the facts. How did you deal with it? How did it make you feel?

In general, I feel that people tend to form a somewhat negative first impression of me when they see me but don't know me yet. It probably has to do with my resting "unfriendly" face and the fact that I express myself quite confidently and use a lot of gestures when I speak. From a distance, I suppose that can come across as an air of superiority or a lack of humility, when in reality, it’s just who I am.

The funny thing is, once people actually come up to talk to me or get to know me a little better, that perception usually changes quite quickly. More than once, people have admitted that they initially thought I was rather rude or stuck-up, only to realize later that I was the exact opposite. At first, hearing that used to upset me, and I would try to change how others perceived me until I realized I didn't want to alter my personality every time someone saw me for the first time. Now, I just take it in stride. When someone tells me I seemed unapproachable at first, I can even reply: "Yeah, I hear that a lot."

I really took the time to read your post, and it truly touched me. It’s a beautiful message. The most important thing is to be at peace with yourself and to accept yourself just as you are. I’ve followed you, so feel free to follow me back. Supporting each other is a great source of motivation for both of us. Thank you so much

that resting unfriendly face is so relatable because I get told the exact same thing all the time just for walking around quietly
