I'm back for October's Round 2 photo prompt. I love handcrafted vases. In fact, I'm a mini collector. I remember in my career when I reached my ten-year anniversary, I had a choice of a diamond company ring or necklace. I chose a vase instead.
Usually more deep than wide, as decorative home accents, designers can work wonders and design a space around a vase with the right color combinations. Usually vases are utilized to hold fresh or artificial flowers or bouquets. However, the possibilities are endless when it comes to non-perishable items that can be placed in them. If designed properly, the vase can become a conversational piece.
I've collected several handmade vases from European countries. I have one favorite item that was produced in the old Czech Republic. The Czech Republic Bohemian Crystal Vases are uniquely stunning as decorative collector pieces.
During my years of collecting, I've heard the word pronounced in two ways. The first rhymes with "face". The second is a more subtle, hushed version that sounds sophisticated, "blahs." For an open container, this item can be used in numerous ways including a decorative table piece; a sculptured item depending on how tall its height.
I share with you my version of how a vase can be utilized.
In my last post, I reminded my readers that Make A Collage Community was getting a reboot. @agmoore, a Moderator in the LMAC Community, has created and graciously offered community members a way to continue. Here are the new changes, which I think are an inventive way to kick off the new LMAC.
NO CONTESTS. NO 20% COMMUNITY BENEFICIARY NO 2% BENEFICIARY for member's photos. But sadly, no utilizing images contributed to the #LIL database.
So here is a summary of the operating procedures, going forward as indicated by @agmoore in the LMAC October Prompt Post: A New Prompt and Way Forward For LMAC, by @agmoore:
- A monthly prompt will kick off the new LMAC round.
- I will see that every collage that comes in is curated.
- The collages must be original and show effort. Only public domain or personal images are allowed. I will use technology, if it seems necessary, to check on originality of a collage.
- Do not upvote the prompt post.
- Please do not include me as beneficiary.
- Please do not include LMAC as beneficiary. This is not a contest, so no funds are necessary to support the contest and any money that goes to LMAC will just sit in the wallet.
- In your post that features your collage, please describe how the collage was created (process) and what it means to you.
- You may cross post.
- If you don't like the prompt, if it doesn't inspire you, make a freestyle collage. Make as many as you want. The goal is to inspire people to create and to express themselves through collage.
- A final very important note: All collages submitted will be in the public domain. They will be free for anyone and everyone to use going forward in any way at all.
If you like the new changes, come join in. Here's my collage for the October prompt.
For the October prompt, members were provided with three photos for their use to choose. For my second collage project, I chose Image #3 to accompany my vase design.
Below are my steps in which I utilized Canva, my design program, to blend the different type images which began with a blank, white canvas. I then added layers of elements to assist in the blending process.
I include here the images used in my design. My inspiration for the collage centered around the lives of two women who utilizes vases in different ways.
