Imagine my reaction when I heard about the free show that a DJ priest would give in the streets of Buenos Aires City: the first thing I thought was, "I can't miss it." If there is one thing I like to do when I'm at home, it's going to visit the city, especially when there is a good reason to do so. Well, that weekend there were two good reasons: one was the visit of a traveling friend I hadn't seen in a long time, and the other was the curious religious electronic music show. Both things came together to spend an incredible night of partying at what was an epic event with a massive turnout 😃.

Imagínense mi reacción cuando escuché acerca del show gratuito que daría un Cura DJ en las calles de la ciudad de Buenos Aires: lo primero que pensé fue "no me lo puedo perder". Si hay algo que me gusta hacer cuando estoy en casa es ir a visitar la ciudad, y más aún cuando hay un buen motivo para hacerlo. Bueno, ese fin de semana hubieron dos buenos motivos: uno fue la visita de una amiga viajera que no veía hacía un largo tiempo, y la otra, el curioso show religioso de música electrónica. Ambas cosas se fusionaron para pasar una noche increíble de fiesta, en lo que fue un evento épico y con concurrencia masiva 😃.

Noe is a traveling friend I met while traveling in Salta in 2024. We shared a two-week volunteer experience in Cafayate, and since then, we have stayed in touch. We met again in Paraguay in May last year while I was still traveling, and it wasn't until April this year that we saw each other again. She continued her nomadic journey until that point, when she stayed in the city of Buenos Aires, and of course, I made a little getaway to go visit her.

Noe es una amiga viajera que conocí mientras estaba viajando en Salta en el año 2024. Con ella compartimos un voluntariado de dos semanas en Cafayate y desde entonces, seguimos en contacto. Nos volvimos a ver en mayo del año pasado en Paraguay mientras yo seguía viajando y no fue hasta abril de este año que nos volvimos a ver. Ella continuó con su viaje nómade hasta ese momento, en el que tuvo una estadía en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires y yo por supuesto me hice una escapada para ir a visitarla.

Coincidentally, her visit coincided with the Saturday when the DJ priest's show was scheduled, so without a doubt, that was the plan we made together. Although neither of us is particularly fond of electronic music, we both enjoy partying, so we didn't hesitate to go. To make my stay in the city more comfortable, I booked a bed at the same hostel where she was staying, and from there, we used it as our base to go to the party, which had Plaza de Mayo as its epicenter. Although we arrived a little before the event started, there were so many people that we stayed about three blocks away from the square because it was no longer possible to move any closer. Nevertheless, everything was well organized, with screens and speakers so that the musical set could be heard clearly.

Casualmente su visita coincidió con el sábado en el que estaba programado el show del Cura DJ, así que sin dudas ese fue el plan que hicimos juntas. A pesar de que a ninguna de las dos nos encanta tanto, tanto, la música electrónica, a las dos nos gusta estar de fiesta así que ni dudamos en ir. Para poder quedarme en la Ciudad de forma más cómoda, reservé una cama en el mismo hostel en que ella estaba hospedada y de ahí hicimos base para ir a la fiesta que tenía como epicentro a la Plaza de Mayo. Si bien fuimos un rato antes de que empezara el evento, había tanta gente que nos quedamos a unas 3 cuadras de distancia de la plaza porque ya no se podía avanzar más. Sin embargo, todo estaba bien organizado y habían pantallas y parlantes para que se escuchara bien el set musical.

As for the show itself, it was an electronic music festival presented by the Portuguese priest Guilherme Peixoto, as part of a tribute to the recently deceased Pope Francis, who was Argentine. The entire show was free and took place around Plaza de Mayo, featuring the impressive production of an electronic music festival, with the difference that the theme was religious. All the songs played had biblical and uplifting messages, and some were even well-known songs with modified lyrics about religion. The festive atmosphere among the people who attended was very lively. I think we all had a good time because, for most of us, it was probably the first time we had attended an event of this kind. However, DJ priest Guilherme is quite well-known around the world, with thousands of followers on his social media accounts, and he puts on shows like this in different major cities. If you have the opportunity to see him live, don't miss it because it's an incredible experience.

En cuanto a show en sí, este se trataba de un festival de música electrónica presentado por el cura portugués Guilherme Peixoto, en el marco de un homenaje al reciente fallecimiento del Papa Francisco, quien era argentino. Todo el show era gratuito alrededor de la Plaza de Mayo y tenía el gran despliegue de un festival de música electrónica, con la diferencia de que la temática era religiosa. Todas las canciones que pasaron tenían mensajes bíblicos y llenos de positivismo, e incluso algunas eran canciones reconocidas con letras modificadas para hablar de religión. El ambiente festivo que había en la gente que fue era muy animado, creo que todos la pasamos bien porque seguramente para la mayoría era la primera vez que estábamos en un evento de estas características. Sin embargo, el Cura DJ Guilherme es bastante reconocido en el mundo, en sus redes sociales tiene miles de seguidores y hace shows de este tipo en distintas ciudades importantes. Si tenes la oportunidad de verlo en vivo, no te lo pierdas porque es una experiencia increíble.

Overall, the show lasted from 7 PM until almost 10 PM, but people stayed a little longer, enjoying the beautiful night. It was April this year and it was autumn, but it felt like a beautiful summer night. I loved being able to enjoy this day with my traveling friend Noe and share another experience with her. I really enjoy feeling like a tourist in Buenos Aires, even though I live only 30 km from the city center, so I love having these kinds of stories to tell. After the show, we all left blessed by Father Guilherme, filled with good energy and happiness after the wonderful experience we had ❤️.

En total, el show duró desde las 7 PM hasta casi las 10 PM, pero la gente se quedó un poco más disfrutando de la hermosa noche que hacía. Era abril de este año y era otoño, pero parecía una hermosa noche veraniega. Me encanó poder disfrutar de este día con mi amiga viajera Noe, y poder tener una experiencia más con ella. A mi me gusta mucho sentirme una turista en Buenos Aires, a pesar de que solo vivo a 30 km del centro de la ciudad, así que disfruto mucho de este tipo de anécdotas. Después del show, todos nos fuimos bendecidos por el Padre Guilherme, llenos de buena energía y de felicidad por la gran jornada que tuvimos ❤️.
