Uruguay - The most beautiful sunset over Piriápolis Beach: the trip there was absolutely worth it. / El más hermoso atardecer sobre la playa de Piriápolis: valió la pena el viaje hasta allá. 😃❤️

Our little getaway to Piriápolis, Uruguay, never stopped surprising us. Even though we didn’t have a precisely defined itinerary, every outing we took had something special about it. Without a doubt, the best part of this trip was the amazing sunsets we got to see. The first was at Las Cañas Beach Resort during our first day of travel, and the second and most beautiful one was right on Piriápolis Beach itself. There, nature gifted us an incredible-colored sky that will stay in our memories forever ❤️.

El pequeño viaje de escapada a Piriápolis en Uruguay no dejaba de sorprendernos. A pesar de que no teníamos un itinerario precisamente definido, cada paseo que hacíamos tenía un tinte especial. Sin dudas, la mejor parte de este paseo fueron los atardeceres geniales que vimos. El primero fue en el Balnerario Las Cañas, durante nuestro primer día de viaje, y el segundo y más hermoso, en la mismísima playa de Piriápolis. Allí, la naturaleza nos regaló un cielo con un color increíble, que va a quedar en nuestros recuerdos por siempre ❤️.

Our second day of the trip had been quite intense and productive from the very beginning. We had left Las Cañas Beach Resort as soon as the sun came up, and my cousin drove until we reached Piriápolis shortly after noon. Once there, we had to get to our new campsite and set up camp again, all quite quickly so we could head back out and make the most of the day. Although we had threatening rain in the morning, the weather improved in the afternoon and allowed us to go from one place to another.

Nuestro segundo día de viaje había sido bastante intenso y aprovechable desde el principio. Habíamos partido del Balneario Las Cañas ni bien salió el sol, y mi primo manejó hasta llegar a Piriápolis pasado el mediodía. Ahí teníamos que llegar a nuestro nuevo camping y armar nuestro campamento de nuevo, todo bastante rápido para poder volver a salir a aprovechar el día. Si bien a la mañana habíamos tenido una lluvia amenazante, para horas de la tarde el clima mejoró y nos dejó ir de acá para allá.

During this second day, we explored Piriápolis Beach and its surroundings, which was the main destination of our trip. After dipping our feet in the waters of the Río de la Plata, we got back in the car and drove to the top of Cerro San Antonio, where we had a great aerial view of the entire coastline. On our way back down, we made an additional stop at the Virgen Stella Maris Viewpoint, which offered a closer view of the coast. This entire area was amazing, and being able to enjoy it in summer was a major plus for us.

Durante este segundo día, recorrimos la playa de Piriápolis y sus alrededores, el cuál era el destino principal de nuestro paseo. Después de mojarnos un poco los pies en el agua del Río de La Plata, volvimos a subirnos al auto para llegar hasta la cima del Cerro San Antonio, desde donde tuvimos una gran vista aérea de toda la costa. En nuestra bajada, hicimos una parada adicional en el Mirador de la Virgen Stella Maris, con una vista más cercana de la costa. Toda esta zona era asombrosa, y admirarla en verano fue un gran punto a favor para nosotros.

Making the most of the day from early on had the great advantage of allowing us to see a little bit of everything while also being on time for the most special moment of the day. As we were coming down from the Stella Maris viewpoint, we already knew we were in for an amazing sunset, so we hurried to get back down to sea level. Just as we expected, within minutes, the sky was dyed an incredible fuchsia color, and together with some clouds left over from the near rain, the landscape looked almost like a painting. Just like what we had seen at Las Cañas Beach Resort, people applauded right as the sun set, something I had never seen in my country, Argentina.

Aprovechar el día desde temprano tuvo la gran ventaja de que pudimos ver un poco de todo y también estar a tiempo para el momento más especial del día. Cuando bajábamos del mirador Stella Maris, ya sabíamos que se vendría un atardecer excelente, así que nos apuramos por estar en el nivel del mar otra vez. Tal como lo esperábamos, en cuestión de minutos, el cielo se tiñó de un color fucsia increíble, que acompañado de algunas nubes remanentes de la casi lluvia, dejaban el paisaje casi como una pintura. Al igual de lo que habíamos visto en el Balneario Las Cañas, la gente aplaudió justo en la puesta de sol, algo que nunca había visto en mi país Argentina.

The great thing about taking this trip in summer was that we could stay at the beach and enjoy it until quite late. In front of the Hotel Argentino, there was a great atmosphere, with music, people passing by, and a warm breeze that made you want to stay. After a long day of driving, my cousin could finally enjoy a beer on the beach, and of course, my aunt and I joined him. We all deserved a good drink during the trip, so we raised our glasses to more adventures in the future.

Lo bueno de haber hecho este viaje en verano fue que pudimos quedarnos aprovechando la playa hasta bastante tarde. En frente del Hotel Argentino había un muy buen ambiente, con música, gente pasando y una brisa cálida que invitaba a quedarte. Después de un largo día de manejar, mi primo al fin pudo disfrutar de una cerveza en la playa, y por supuesto que mi tía y yo lo acompañamos. Todos nos merecíamos un buen trago en el viaje, y brindamos por más paseos en el futuro.

I couldn’t have asked for more from this trip, which was only halfway through and was already turning out to be incredible. Piriápolis Beach had been on my travel bucket list for a long time, and the February Carnival weekend was the perfect time to make it happen. I was happy to have chosen my family as my companions for this getaway. The three of us make a great travel team, and we knew how to organize ourselves well so we could enjoy every moment from beginning to end. And the sunsets on the other side of the Río de la Plata will stay in my heart forever this year ❤️.

No podría haberle pedido más a este paseo, que apenas iba por la mitad y ya estaba siendo increíble. La playa de Piriápolis había estado en mi lista de deseos de viaje hacía mucho tiempo, y el fin de semana de febrero en los carnavales fue el momento perfecto para concretarlo. Me alegré por haber elegido a mi familia como acompañantes para esta escapada. Los tres hacemos un gran equipo de paseo y supimos organizarnos bien para poder disfrutar de principio a fin. Y los atardeceres del otro lado del Río de La Plata este año van a quedar en mi corazón por siempre ❤️.
