Arguably the most scenic route in Central Java, Indonesia
It was the first time I passed through this scenic route connecting Magelang, Central Java to Solo. This route stretches through several cities and villages sitting in between of several mountain overlooking an active volcano called Mt.Merapi.
I passed through the area during a business trip to Solo, Central Java with my boss and my colleagues from our main office to solo. Throughout the journey I was totally in awe of the surrounding area.
You can see houses sandwiched between the clouds and it feels like these people live above the clouds. I don't think my picture does justice to the whole view but if I have the chance to travel again, this is the place I'd go.
The best time to visit the area is somewhere between 6 AM to 9 AM if you want to get a clear shot of the mountain. If you have a telephoto lens, you can get a clear picture of Merapi's volcanic activity.
I wonder if people living in this area knows how lucky they are to see this view everyday. For me, I was completely in awe of it and I couldn't stop admiring the views. There aren't that many restaurants and cafe in the area and no mass tourism touched it yet. It felt like you passed through a hidden route that completely takes your breath away.
One thing that I wished was less electricity tables and poles that distracted the view. So, you need to stop at certain spot to get a good view and angle of it.
I am sure one of these days, my office will take us through this scenic route again. It was a refreshing journey before I was actually buried with paperwork. As I get to travel a lot through work, it helped me discover less traveled and less conventional areas in Java especially.
One thing I would advise is go around these area during low and dry season as it will have clear sky and you will get some amazing shots of the mountain. What I shared here are only a few from all the shots I've taken throughout the journey.
There are also hiking point throughout this area so if you enjoy hike, definitely check it out. I pinned the street that has these since these spots are multiple and stretches along the road.
