[Movie] Now You See Me: Now You Don't Review

Can film producers stop making sequels? Now You See Me film franchise started in 2013 with a story surrounding the lives of J. Daniel Atlas Merritt McKinney, Henley Reeves, and Jack Wilder who teamed up and has a screwball teamwork. It was fun and with the action and the mystery on it.

I genuinely enjoyed it up until the 2nd installment of the film which should've ended there.

I forgot this film exist until I got a free prime subscriptions and saw it being advertised on the front page. "Wait, so this film still creates sequels?". Then, I decided to watch it just to check it out.

Well, obviously I wasn't that surprised. The plot progression is the same except they insert younger characters and attempts to create a dynamic from it. Does it work? I don't think it does. I was more content that the mystery was solved during the 2nd installment and it all ends happily.

There are many cases like that just because the first and the second generate some buzz, doesn't mean they need to keep making sequels.

To be fair, they should learn from Korean filmmaker. They do not abuse the buzz and their film stops either the first or the second installment.

I heard that now, they are going to make another one. I sure, won't watch it. In my mind, Now You See Me has only 2 sequel, the rest doesn't matter.

  • First one is perfect, secon one unnecessary

As long as it's profitable and they're riding the wave of fame, they won't stop making sequels 😂. Sometimes, a single story just needs a sequel—and nothing more; anything else is like chewing gum that's lost its flavor.

  • a mi me gusto, quede con ganas de saber mas pero bueno

I agree with you. Some movies are better when they end at the right time. Too many sequels can make a good story feel boring.
