" Mom, help me pick an outfit. I am going out". My mom ended up picking an outfit but that didn't sit quite right with me. And I abruptly said " That's exactly how cheap AI would operate"
Okay mom, hear me out. I finally figure it out.
These days we have an AI but most of use use the free tier version. TO get the result we wanted, we have to be as descrptive as possible. The same way I have to explain to you the kind of colors, etc, and where I am going.
There are 3 types of AI :
- Freemium tier : I ask you to pick me an outfit. You pick random outfit while I have something in mind.
- Slightly better AI : you'll ask me what kind of clothes I want and perhaps further clarify my request.
- Premium AI subscription : you instantly know what I want and even suggest the best possible outfit.
Most of us rely on the freemium. You probably don't want to pay $20 or something for the subscription. In free tier and low quality AI, you have to work your way out to get the result exactly what you want. You have to ensure it has role, etc, and then refine your prompt to get the best result.
There is something that I find disturbing too. As the world advances even with AI, inequality still exist and the rest of the world will still get behind. Imagine you work at a company and the salary is less than $400 and you need to use AI to help your productivity or build side income. Then, compare it to someone whose salary is above $2000 and the $20 is just probably coffee money. Yes, you can use freemium tier but the effort required is even more and does not necessarily produce a better result.
This is something to ponder on and I realized that I'll stop seeking about equality. I don't think it'll ever exist. It'll never be.
Take cryptocurrency for example too. In the past, it creates low barrier for people to turn lives around but now, it is still the same. Those who have money will create more money and income inequality will continue to live. Institution enters and it is no longer the same. The purpose of decentralization is gone. It is not decentralized anymore, nothing is.
