Take care of yourself, but take care of your mental health too.

During this Suicide Prevention Month, people usually speak more openly about mental health. At some point, we have all felt that life can be too difficult to bear; some can better hide the feeling of no longer wanting to be here, while others can simply say it openly, but it might seem like they are just "seeking attention," as some people say out there.
Having mental health starts with recognizing what hurts us: it can be our way of thinking, our beliefs, our environment, the way we relate to others, and even our ability to set boundaries or not.
I believe we shouldn't wait until we feel extremely bad or on the edge of the abyss to decide to seek help, although I know that sometimes it is very difficult to take that step for fear of being judged or for fear of being labeled by others as someone who is "weak" or "crazy."
There is a lot of taboo surrounding the topic and very little support in general to seek help. In my country, going to a psychologist or psychiatrist is extremely expensive; those who can do it make the ultimate effort to afford it, and they might not even receive a proper mental health evaluation because they won't always be able to attend appointments regularly.
And this is also a government problem for failing to implement improvements so that people can see a doctor or specialist.
Asking for help is not easy; sometimes it is done subtly through certain comments or actions. We must pay close attention not only to those who appear affected on the surface, but also to those who don't talk about it and may be suffering in silence.
I think the topic is discussed more openly now, but even so, there haven't been many changes regarding truly helping the people who need it. That's why some prefer to remain silent—so as not to be a burden or break their family members' mental health.

However, we must find a way to be aware that we can all be affected at some point in our lives; no one is exempt from experiencing a mental health issue. Some things that have helped me are being able to talk about what I feel and, when I can't find the words, letting God, in whom I believe, allow the process to pass without harming me while I go through it.
But people who go through this do not lack faith; sometimes what they feel is so overwhelming that thoughts of being completely alone in these difficult moments creep in.
Caring for our mental health begins by recognizing what makes us feel bad, whether or not we can change it, and what things bring us well-being—doing more of those to seek emotional stability.
There is no magic formula for improving our mental health, but without a doubt, having someone to listen to us without judgment, doing more of what keeps us from sinking further, and finding a space to acknowledge our emotions can help us not get carried away by what our mind tells us; often, those thoughts are distorted and do not reflect the reality of who we truly are.
