Finding Meaning in the Uncertain.

Hello, Holos & Lotus friends! I hope you are starting a great week. Today, my reflection touches on those moments when we feel that nothing we do makes sense, yet something deep inside tells us we must keep moving forward. In posts by other community members as well as my own, I have talked about these topics, and I feel it can be somewhat overwhelming to search for meaning within something that makes us feel as though we are moving too slowly, that the path is deeply distressful, or that demands an energy level our body might later make us pay for with our health.

In Venezuela, the power outage situation along with other compounding issues make you feel demotivated and make you think you are wasting your time—and the crazy thing is, you aren't even actually wasting time. All the time we spend is dedicated to getting ahead, improving ourselves, and finding the bright side of life. But here, every single day turns into a new battle that brings all kinds of interruptions and obstacles that keep us from advancing like a normal society—like a society that lives freely and makes individual decisions.

At times, I've thought that studying here is something for the brave and resilient, because there really is no incentive, nor anything to lean on to feel that it's truly worth it. By saying this, I don't mean that studying isn't worth it—of course it is. But there is so much social, mental, and emotional deterioration that you end up overwhelmed by so many things happening in such rapid succession. Many might think that leaving for another place is the best option; I feel that depends on each person and isn't a decision to be taken lightly. Either option takes things away from you; you just have to choose which experience you want to live while also keeping in mind the limitations that exist for taking either path.

Psychologically, it is exhausting. I think I have problems, but then I look at the person next to me, and they might be worse off than I am. It isn't a competition about who suffers or wears out more, but these are the kinds of thoughts we end up having as a result of the very deterioration caused by trying to get ahead day after day. I believe it is necessary to have mental strength and a support network, because otherwise, I feel no one could endure going through so many things all at once. In my case, I always try to do the best I can with everything around me, as well as with the personal struggles I already carry as a human being.

The title of this post is about finding meaning in the uncertain, which sounds quite strange. However, I think it fits perfectly with what I am sharing here. In the midst of my daily life situations, the word "uncertain" lingers at the end of every paragraph. Everything is possible, yet at the same time, everything seems so impossible that it feels as if there were no chance of giving meaning to the uncertain. I like to remind myself that I have gone through deeply painful experiences in the past and managed to keep going despite them. But it truly is tough having to prepare yourself every day to give your best when neither the right conditions exist, nor a motivation to give meaning to the uncertain.
