That's more like it.

United got their season up and running the way we would have expected last week against Hull.

Fast attacking football.
Work rate and aggression.
Skill on show.
Quality finishing.

They were unlucky to go behind against the run of play in the first half and then very lucky to go ahead with their second goal later in the match but United were full value for the win and only for Martinez switching off towards the end it should have been 5-1.

Personally I don't care what the rule says. It was a handball, it led to the goal and they reviewed it over VAR so it should have gone back to the first issue when the handball occurred. It shouldn't matter how the ball went into the net after that since there was a free out and it should have been given as such before the goal happened and anything after that doesn't count. It made no sense to me......

Other than that United were a lot more solid with Maguire and Martinez on the pitch if they can stay fit and Martinez passing is class. He is able to ping passes over the defense and get the attack moving way faster than anybody else on the pitch.

Mainoo had a very solid game with some lovely passes and Rashford put in a good shift with some glimpses of what he is capable of.

Lammens was solid and made a few good saves and Dalot is a very good player. He even got a shot on target which is good for him.

I was disappointed with Cunha and Mbueno who weren't up to their best but it's only week one of the league so plenty time to get fitter and sharper. Fernandez obviously ran the whole show and got a hat trick so man of the match performance for him.

We are still badly stuck for a good left back but the attacking options are very strong now with some serious talent on the bench which wasn't there two years ago.

The next 24 hours will be interesting as we wait and see if they can do a final bit of business before the window closes tomorrow.

Then Everton away next weekend and see if they can put together two performances in a row.

Che, me llamó la atención cuando decís que el VAR no debió contar el gol tras el mano, la veo así, la regla dice otra cosa pero la polémica siempre está. Además, el hat‑trick de Fernandez, ¿sabías que es su quinta vez con tres goles en la Premier? Va a estar bravo si mantiene esa racha.

Great breakdown — Bruno's hat-trick performance sounds like exactly what United needed after last week's struggles against Hull. Your point on the VAR handball is a fair one too; if the process starts with reviewing an infringement, it should logically nullify anything that follows from it, regardless of how the ball eventually finds the net. Encouraging to hear Maguire and Martinez both looking sharp defensively, and Mainoo continuing to look like a real long-term piece in midfield. The left-back situation does look like the one glaring gap left to address before the window shuts. Curious to see if they manage to build on this against Everton next week rather than have another inconsistent follow-up.
