Travel Journal: Edesheim on the German Wine Route (Germany)

After our stay in Trier, we continued our journey to Edesheim in the southern part of the German Wine Route. On the way, we stopped in Landau in der Pfalz for a little walk around the city.

We explored Landau in beautiful weather. To be honest, we only liked the city moderately. There weren’t many interesting shops, and there were an incredible number of construction sites throughout the city center. Still, we came across some nice sights and impressions:

For lunch, we stopped at Wirtshaus im Deutschen Tor. The food was great, and the value for money was excellent.

After lunch, we continued to our hotel, Schloss Edesheim. Both the location and our room were fantastic. Our room on the fourth floor had a beautiful view over the surrounding vineyards. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn’t have an elevator, so be prepared for a few stairs if you’re staying on one of the upper floors!

The hotel is nevertheless a beautiful place to stay, and there are several wineries within walking distance. We walked over to Weingut Anselmann, where we enjoyed a wine tasting and also had dinner.

It’s a lovely winery with a really cozy outdoor area! Before leaving the next morning, we also picked up two cases of wine to take home with us.

Breakfast was served in the hotel’s courtyard and was delicious. The atmosphere in the garden was incredibly relaxing and made for a perfect start to the day.

In the final post of our trip, we’ll visit the beautiful city of Heidelberg!

Until then, best wishes,

Nils
