Our final stop on our little road trip was the beautiful city of Heidelberg. Neither of us had ever been there before, so after the drive, we started our visit with a walk through the Old Town.

Here are some of our impressions:

We had a reservation at a great restaurant that evening, but we still needed a little snack in the meantime. So we stopped at Blendit, a small café in the Old Town. We enjoyed a delicious acai bowl and something cold to drink. The temperatures were very summery again that day!

After our short break, we continued on foot towards Heidelberg Castle. And as you would expect from a castle, getting there involved quite a bit of walking uphill. So please excuse us if we look a little sweaty in some of the photos! 😄

The photo above shows the largest wine barrel in the world made of wood!

After exploring the castle, we headed back downhill into the Old Town. From there, we walked along the Neckar River back to our car.

Our hotel should now be ready for check-in as well, so our next stop was the NH Hotel in Heidelberg. Both the room and the hotel itself were great! We would definitely stay there again anytime.

In the evening, we headed to Restaurant 959 Heidelberg to properly finish off our vacation. Unfortunately, the restaurant wasn’t air-conditioned, but everything else was perfect: the atmosphere, the service, the food, and the drinks!

And that brings us to the end of our little road trip through Germany. I hope you enjoyed following along on our journey!
Our next trips are already planned, so stay tuned for more…
Nils
