After our stop at Eltz Castle, we continued along the Moselle. In the small town of Lieser, we had booked our hotel for the next two nights, followed by another night in Trier. Neither my girlfriend nor I had ever been to this part of Germany before, so we were excited to explore the scenery — and, of course, taste some of the local wines.
After our hike to the castle, we were pretty hungry, so we stopped in Cochem and decided to have lunch at a wine bar. Weingarten Cochem was the perfect choice. With a fantastic view over the Moselle, we enjoyed a glass of wine and a Pinsa topped with Brie and grapes.
For dessert, we stopped at an old-fashioned café, also located right along the Moselle.
After that, it was time to head to our hotel: Schloss Lieser, Autograph Collection! The castle feels almost surreal when you see it for the first time. It’s an impressive building right on the banks of the Moselle, and you almost feel like you’ve stepped into a scene from Harry Potter. The room definitely lived up to the castle itself!
That evening, Restaurant Puricelli was immediately on our list. The restaurant is also located inside the castle, where we were served a delicious multi-course menu. The atmosphere was another highlight!
We spent the following day enjoying plenty of wellness time, including the sauna and pool. Originally, we had planned to spend the day exploring the Moselle and seeing some of the surrounding sights, but with the temperatures outside, we decided against it. Instead, we had a wonderfully relaxing day — something we definitely needed after a few stressful weeks.
In the afternoon, we visited Weingut P. Stettler-Söhne, where we enjoyed a wine tasting and picked up a few bottles to take home with us.
For dinner, we crossed the Moselle to the neighboring village and went to Weinromantikhotel Richtershof. I rarely get to sit somewhere as cozy as we did in their garden, and the food was absolutely fantastic as well! I would definitely choose this restaurant over the one at our hotel the previous evening — especially considering the lower cost.
The next morning, it was time to continue our journey to Trier. But before leaving the area, we made one more stop at the Zylinderhaus, an automobile museum.
