Querida comunidad de Naturaleza Asombrosa En esta oportunidad, les traigo la sorpresa que recibió mi sobrina en su casa, al poder ver la bella flor que solo abre una vez cada año y además en la oscuridad de la noche.
Es tan delicada como hermosa. De su maceta, solo salió una flor, por primera vez. La emoción fue tal, que me envió las imágenes de su plantita en plena floración. Un espectáculo singular. Los invito a conocer mucho más acerca de este milagro de la noche. Mi madre la llamaba dama de noche. Recuerdo que cuando era niña, mamá en su jardín, tenía varias, y de dos colores. Y cada vez que se acercaba la floración, era todo un espectáculo familiar porque prácticamente, había que aprovechar de verla bien y poder disfrutar de su belleza, ya que duraba tan solo una sola noche.
¿Qué les parece? ¿Cuéntenme si ustedes tuvieron que esperar y trasnocharse para ver surgir el gran milagro de la aparición mágica de la flor de la noche? Sería genial conocer sus experiencias con este tipo de planta tan extraña.
Esta planta es uno de tantos tipos de cactus que existen. Como se puede observar en la imagen anterior, sus hojas son anchas y muy verdes. A mí me pareció extraño porque generalmente los cactus tienen espinas. Esta planta tiene sus hojas chatas y entrelazadas unas con otras. Caen en cascada y son del tipo epífitas, es decir, que se aferran a los grandes árboles para desarrollarse en forma segura. En el caso de la nuestra, está sembrada en una maceta, y tiene aproximadamente 10 meses de vida. Mi sobrina la encontró en un pote de plástico con sus raíces enrolladas. En la siguiente imagen la pueden observar. Al parecer estaba muy estrecha cuando la trasplantó.
Ahora, en el siguiente collage, le muestro el gran milagro. Ese regalo que nos llega como una sorpresa, y que para poder disfrutar de ella, hay que trasnocharse. ¡Pero, señores! Este espectáculo sí que vale cada trasnocho, porque la vista, el corazón y los sentidos restantes, serán totalmente complacidos con tal visión. Acá se puede apreciar el proceso desde e momento en que comienza a abrirse la flor que si vemos con detenimiento, es de color rosa su capullo.
Finalmente, lo mejor de esa noche ha sido la llegada triunfal de La Dama de Noche como toda una hermosa dama despidiendo el aroma más suave y abrazador que pueda expeler flor alguna. Entre sus característicasmás resaltantes y recomendaciones, podemos definirla como un tipo de cactus que aunque no tiene espinas. Su floración abre solamente por una noche y al día siguiente se cierran y se marchitan. Expelen un delicioso aroma capaz de impregnar el ambiente completo a su alrededor. No requiere mucho riego, por ser familia de suculentas. Ellas conservan el agua en su interior y si la riegas demasiado se pueden morir. Por ello necesita un buen drenaje. No resiste heladas intensas, hay que buscarles un lugar para evitar los climas extremos. Se riega solo cuando esté seca su tierra. Para su reproducción, se retira una de las hojas y se coloca en otra maceta hasta que ella comienza a enraizar, Puede llegar a medir entre 2 y 3 metros de altura. Florece en verano, y en primavera. Su flor se prepara durante aproximadamente 15 días y permanece abierta durante una noche. Sus flores son blancas y pueden llegar a medir entre los 20 a 25 cm de diámetro.
Otros datos:Nombre científico es, Epiphyllum Oxypetalum, pero también tiene otros nombres quizá más comunes como: flor de kadupul, reina de la noche, cactus en pipa holandés, galán de media noche, Brahma kamalam (India)o dama de noche. Es originaria de varios países; Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panamá, Colombia, México, Paraguay, Venezuela y Bolivia. Dear Amazing Nature community, this time I bring you the surprise my niece received at home, when she was able to see the beautiful flower that only opens once a year and also in the darkness of night.
It's as delicate as it is beautiful. Only one flower bloomed from its pot, for the first time ever. She was so thrilled that she sent me pictures of her little plant in full bloom. A truly unique sight. I invite you to learn much more about this miracle of the night. My mother called it night-blooming jasmine. I remember that when I was a child, my mother had several in her garden, in two different colors. And every time it was about to bloom, it was quite a family spectacle because you practically had to take advantage of the opportunity to see it clearly and enjoy its beauty, since it only lasted one night.

This plant is one of the many types of cacti that exist. As you can see in the previous image, its leaves are broad and very green. I found it strange because cacti usually have spines. This plant has flat leaves that are intertwined with each other. They cascade down and are epiphytes, meaning they cling to large trees to grow safely. In our case, it's planted in a pot and is about 10 months old. My niece found it in a plastic container with its roots curled up. You can see it in the next image. Apparently, it was very cramped when she transplanted it.
Now, in the following collage, I'll show you the great miracle. That gift that arrives as a surprise, and to truly enjoy it, you have to stay up all night. But, my friends! This spectacle is well worth every all-nighter, because your eyes, your heart, and all your other senses will be completely delighted by such a sight. Here you can appreciate the process from the moment the flower begins to open; if you look closely, its bud is pink.
Finally, the highlight of that night was the triumphant arrival of the Night-Blooming Jasmine, a beautiful lady exuding the softest and most captivating fragrance any flower could possibly release.
Among its most notable characteristics and recommendations, we can define it as a type of cactus that, although spineless, blooms for only one night, closing and withering the following day. It releases a delightful aroma capable of permeating the entire surrounding environment. It doesn't require much watering, as it belongs to the succulent family. Succulents store water internally, and overwatering can cause them to die. Therefore, good drainage is essential. It doesn't tolerate intense frosts, so it's important to find a location to protect it from extreme weather. Water only when the soil is dry. To propagate it, remove one of the leaves and place it in another pot until it begins to root. It can reach a height of 2 to 3 meters. It blooms in summer and spring. Its flower develops over approximately 15 days and remains open for one night. Its flowers are white and can reach 20 to 25 cm in diameter.
