Poison Anyone? a freewrite

Sometimes I think @feltbuzz has chosen the daily prompt just for me. One time there was a whole slew of them in a row that seemed to be begging for my opinion on a matter of importance to me. Today's prompt "inject the poison" is sure another. How could I resist?

We know the body has natural methods of protecting itself from substances that are poisonous to it. If the substance enters through the mouth, all sorts of bodily organs are designed to help remove the substance, or to redirect its action so that it does no, or at least less, harm to the body. Poisonous contact with the skin? Rashes are thought to be methods to remove toxins from entering more deeply and doing terrible harm. Through the air? Those lovely lungs filter out bad stuff, then give you a good cough to get it out. You gotta love your hairy noses.

Injecting toxins directly into the flesh and the blood stream bypasses all the body's natural mechanisms to protect it from poisoning. Next time you're thinking of getting a jab of anything, think of this.

This is my entry to @mariannewest's daily freewrite challenge. Today's prompt is inject the poison. I used e.ggtimer set for five minutes, wrote until it went off, then made a few proofreading corrections without changing any content.

  • That really does make you think. It frightens the hell out of me that they're using an MRNA version of the flu shot this year. I guess it's the "luck of the draw" who gets the new version or the traditional version with the dead virus. I'm sorry I missed this during the active voting period. I don't know how it slipped by.

Tried to share this via Facebook. NO LUCK. Bots must be busy censoring anything that looks contrary to "trust the science."

I'm gonna remember this next time I want to mainline heroin. (JK, I probably won't remember it.) :)

In my opinion, 'word to the wise' is an equivalent to latin 'Sapienti sat'. But I am not native speaker, I might be wrong. You've got a curious visualization to the prompt 'poison' ;)

Every time we think our bodies are catching up "they" come out with a new poison.

It is true though that our bodies are amazing things.

You really put it into perspective when you said it like that. Now I really feel like jabs should be way more scrutinized.

We have adapted, but at times our defenses may be insufficient.

If there’s one image I could happily go to my grave without ever seeing, it’s a mouldy blueberry muffin. I cannot imagine what possessed you to photograph such an abomination.
