Core Routine & Scapular Technique

On this occasion, I was able to attend the bar park where I usually train my students to perform a core routine.
The afternoon went by as usual, and while I was organizing the routine for a couple of students, I focused on correcting the technique of one of them. He was performing leg tucks while hanging from the bar; however, he has the bad habit of "shrugging his shoulders up to his ears" when the proper technique is to perform scapular depression with scapular retraction. It is basically bringing your shoulder blades together and sticking your chest out while lowering your shoulders. I took photos of him before and after applying the proper technique, and the difference is remarkable. Nevertheless, I will consider assigning him sets of scapula pull-ups later on so he can build proper proprioception and technique.
For my part, I performed several sets of toes-to-bar. After doing freestyle for a long time, there comes a point where doing toes-to-bar actually feels like a break. However, to add some real difficulty, I performed a couple of sets of toes-to-bar while hanging from just one arm.
Teaching proper scapular engagement is fundamental for preventing injury and building true structural strength on the bars. Capturing the visual contrast between poor posture and correct depression helps students internalize body awareness much faster.
Escalating standard core exercises to single-arm variations keeps training challenging even when foundational movements become second nature. I hope these photographs highlight the technical details and energy of our session today.
I hope you enjoyed these photographs. Without anything more to add, I bid farewell. Stay tuned for future posts! Until next time!
