I recently shared with the community my experience at the opening of the first regional emerging art exhibition, where I am participating with an installation piece of conceptual art; all the participants of the exhibition organized ourselves to carry out several activities within the time frame that the exhibition lasts in the room to the public, to integrate the artistic community and the visitors of the museum and thus be able to promote these exhibitions of emerging artists who are little known.
Hace poco compartí con la comunidad mi experiencia en la inauguración del primer salón regional de arte emergente, en donde estoy participando con una pieza instalativas de arte conceptual; todos los participantes de la exposición nos organizamos para realizar varias actividades dentro del marco de tiempo que dure la exposición en la sala al público, para integrar a la comunidad artística y a los visitantes del museo y así poder impulsar estas exposiciones de artistas emergentes que son poco conocidos.
Recently, someone who visited the exhibition informed us that the room was closed. When we asked the museum staff, they told us it was because no one was entering the room. This is the most logical explanation if the museum doesn't have any marketing mechanisms to promote this type of art exhibition. That's why the participants themselves joined together to promote guided tours of the exhibition we're participating in, and thus force the museum to keep the room constantly open to the public.
Hace poco una persona que fue a visitar la muestra nos avisó que tenían la sala cerrada, cuando fuimos a preguntar al personal del museo, nos dijeron que era porque nadie entraba en la sala; es lo más lógico que pase si en el museo no tiene ningún mecanismo de marketing que impulse ese tipo muestras de arte, por eso los mismos participantes nos unimos para impulsar las visitas guiadas a la exposición en donde estamos participando, y así poder obligar a el museo a mantener la sala abierta constantemente al público.
I invited Moises, a friend from university, and we went to the exhibition. I wanted to show him my installation piece. Since most of us participating in the exhibition are connected in some way to the art university, we all know each other, which makes the energy in the room pleasant and harmonious.
Invite a Moises un hermano de la universidad y nos fuimos para la exposición, quería mostrarle mi pieza instalativas. Como la mayoría de los que participamos en la exposición estamos vinculados de alguna manera a la Universidad de artes, todos nos conocemos, eso permite que la energía dentro de la sala sea agradable y armoniosa.
In an attempt to flood social media with photos of the exhibition, we started taking group pictures next to all the pieces on display. This strategy, which we used to distribute information about the art show, proved successful for future guided tours.
En un intento por inundar las redes sociales con fotografías de la expo, comenzamos a tomarnos fotos en grupo junto a todas las piezas expuestas en la sala. La estrategia del colectivo fue la que aplicamos para distribuir la información de la muestra de arte y tuvo resultado para futuras visitas guiadas.
These kinds of actions we're taking today are necessary so we're not used under the label of "emerging artists," so their institutions can pad their statistics without actually giving us the importance or visibility we deserve as real artists. Este tipo de acciones que hoy realizamos, son necesarias para que no nos usen bajo la etiqueta de artistas emergentes, para que sus instituciones sumen cifras en estadísticas, pero realmente no nos dan importancia ni visibilidad como artistas reales. Pronto estaré compartiendo las ultimas actividades que realizamos antes del cierre de la exposición, espero que haya sido de su agrado, buenas vibras.
