Retome mis prácticas de dibujo realista, está vez con la determinación de enfocarme solo en aprender y practicar dibujo realista, me di cuenta de que mi ansiedad por aprender a dibujar de todo estaba estancandome, y es que no está mal querer aprender a dibujar de todo, pero querer hacerlo al mismo tiempo sobre todo cuando no se cuenta con el tiempo suficiente para aprender y practicar todo, convierte la tarea de aprender en algo tedioso y frustrante.
I resumed my realistic drawing practice, this time with the determination to focus solely on learning and practicing realistic drawing. I realized that my anxiety about wanting to learn how to draw everything was holding me back. There is nothing wrong with wanting to learn how to draw everything, but trying to do it all at once—especially when you don't have enough time to learn and practice it all—makes the learning process tedious and frustrating.
Estaba intentando aprender a dibujar anime, retrato realista, animales, flores, chibis 🤣 todo al mismo tiempo cuando solo cuento con una hora al día para prácticar dibujo y antes de enfermarme de estrés decidí parar y hacerme una pregunta importante ¿Cuál de todas esas cosas quieres aprender a dibujar primero? La respuesta fue automática ni siquiera tuve que pensarlo mucho, retrato realista, desde niña a sido mi sueño, si bien las demás cosas también quiero aprenderderlas siento que tengo que darle prioridad a lo que más me apasiona dibujar. 🥰
I was trying to learn how to draw anime, realistic portraits, animals, flowers, chibis 🤣 all at the same time, when I only have one hour a day to practice drawing. Before getting sick from stress, I decided to stop and ask myself an important question: Which of all those things do you want to learn to draw first? The answer was automatic; I didn't even have to think about it much: realistic portraits. It has been my dream since I was a little girl. Although I still want to learn the other things, I feel I need to prioritize what I am most passionate about drawing. 🥰
Eso no quiere decir que de vez en cuando no intentare practicar o hacer otro tipo de dibujos como por ejemplo animé o tal vez flores y animales, claro que sí porque tampoco quiero ser tan rígida en mi práctica, cuando me provoqué dibujar otra cosa lo haré, pero quiero enfocar mi energía en aprender dibujo de retratos realistas hasta que logré dominarlo lo máximo posible, siento que es la forma correcta de aprender y practicar, en vez de practicar un día una cosa y al otro día otra cosa, y luego otra, porque al final no logré avanzar en ninguna.
That doesn't mean I won't occasionally try to practice or draw other things, like anime, or maybe flowers and animals. Of course I will, because I don't want to be too rigid with my practice either. Whenever I feel like drawing something else, I'll do it, but I want to focus my energy on learning realistic portrait drawing until I master it as much as possible. I feel this is the right way to learn and practice, rather than practicing one thing one day, something else the next, and then another, only to end up making no progress in any of them.
Cuando decidí aprender a dibujar a los 30 supe que mi camino no sería fácil, que el proceso no sería lineal, que me equivocaría mil veces, que haría pausas y retomaría mil veces, pero también sé que todo ese proceso es necesario por eso retomo mis prácticas con más enfoque y más determinación y quise comenzar esta vez refrescando la memoria y también aprendiendo un poco más sobre como dibujar una cabeza, partiendo de una estructura simple, pero que nos ayude a dibujarla correctamente, así que ya sin más preámbulo los dejo con el paso a paso de esta práctica. 🥰☺️
When I decided to learn how to draw at 30, I knew my path wouldn't be easy, that the process wouldn't be linear, that I would make mistakes a thousand times, and that I would pause and start over a thousand times. But I also know that all of this process is necessary, which is why I am resuming my practice with more focus and determination. This time, I wanted to start by refreshing my memory and learning a bit more about how to draw a head, starting from a simple structure that helps us draw it correctly. So without further ado, here is the step-by-step of this practice. 🥰☺️

Sigo intentando dominar el método Loomis para dibujar cabezas así que comencé dibujando un círculo, ya saben que las estructuras se hacen con figuras geométricas simples, ese el truco de una estructura, no tiene que ser elaborada, mientras más simple, mejor. Este círculo lo hice con la ayuda de una tapa de pintura al frío porque la idea era hacer un círculo perfecto y pues a pulso no me sale. 🤭
I'm still trying to master the Loomis method for drawing heads, so I started by drawing a circle. As you know, structures are made using simple geometric shapes—that’s the trick to a structure: it doesn't have to be elaborate; the simpler, the better. I drew this circle using the lid of a craft paint bottle because the goal was to make a perfect circle, and I just can't pull that off freehand. 🤭
A ese círculo le dibuje otra figura geométrica, un óvalo, como ya saben la cabeza no es perfectamente redonda sino aplanada a los lados, al trazar ese óvalo aplanamos los laterales de la cabeza, como pueden ver está cabeza está en tres cuartos, no está de frente.
Inside that circle, I drew another geometric shape—an oval. As you know, the head isn't perfectly round, but rather flattened on the sides. By drawing that oval, we flatten the sides of the head. As you can see, this head is in a three-quarter view, not facing straight ahead.
Luego busque el punto medio, o sea el centro del óvalo y luego traze una línea vertical por fuera de la esfera para ir haciendo las medidas correspondientes, cada una de esas medidas indica donde va cada parte del rostro, créanme amo como cada línea nos va dando luz de donde deben ir los ojos, la nariz cejas etc, pero al interior dibujar un rostro no es tan fácil como lo indica la estructura 🤣 pero sé que todo es cuestión de practicar más.
Then I found the midpoint—that is, the center of the oval—and drew a vertical line outside the sphere to start making the corresponding measurements. Each of those measurements indicates where every part of the face goes. Believe me, I love how each line gives us a guide as to where the eyes, nose, eyebrows, etc. should go, but honestly, drawing a face isn't as easy as the structure makes it look 🤣 but I know it's all a matter of practicing more.
Luego de encontrar el centro del óvalo traze también una línea vertical en todo el centro está nos servirá para ubicar las orejas y también la línea de la mandíbula. Cómo está es una cabeza en tres cuartos y mirando ligeramente hacia arriba lo que hice fue inclinar ligeramente hacia arriba la línea horizontal y desde allí me guíe para trazar la línea por el resto de la esfera y esa línea nos indica donde van las cejas.
After finding the center of the oval, I also drew a vertical line right down the middle; this will serve to place the ears and the jawline. Since this is a head in a three-quarter view and looking slightly upwards, what I did was tilt the horizontal line slightly upward and used it as a guide to draw the line across the rest of the sphere. That line indicates where the eyebrows go.
Luego traze la línea del nacimiento del cabello, y la base de la nariz. Para saber hasta donde llega la barbilla lo que hice fue medir desde el nacimiento del cabello hasta la línea de las cejas y desde la línea de las cejas hasta la base de la nariz, ambas partes deben medir lo mismo, entonces esa medida la transfiero a la parte de abajo para saber hasta donde debe llegar la barbilla.
Then I drew the hairline and the base of the nose. To figure out where the chin ends, I measured the distance from the hairline to the eyebrow line, and from the eyebrow line to the base of the nose—both sections should measure the same. I then transferred that measurement to the bottom section to find out where the chin should go.
Y así queda hecha la estructura de la cabeza, estoy conciente de que me enredo mucho explicando pero hago mi mayor esfuerzo por hacer el tutorial 🤭 la verdad necesitaba mucho está práctica ya que lo aprendí hace mucho pero necesitaba refrescar ese conocimiento, me alegra mucho poder compartir este proceso con ustedes y pronto volveré con más de esta práctica de dibujo realista. 🥰
