Hoy les quiero mostrar como hice una franela oversize para las damas,las franelas son una prenda fresca y varía para hacer combinaciones con otras prendas,como jeans o faldas. Es mi primera vez que cosi una franela,y parece algo sencillo de hacer pero me llevo varios días en hacerla,y si fue un poco confuso porque yo me confundo todavía en coser la parte de mangas y cuello,y eso me llevo a descoser y después volver a coser,por ese proceso me llevo unos días en terminarla porque cuando me equivocaba dejaba eso así y no la continuaba por la frustración,y de tanto descoser dañe la parte de la costura del cuello,por lo que obte por usar una tela para esa zona de otro color pero parecido al color de tela de la franela. Y bueno hoy llegó el día de terminarla y les dejaré compartido el paso a paso y el momento justo dónde me equivoqué,y el resultado final.

Hello everyone, how are you all doing today? Greetings and welcome to this new post. Today I want to show you how I made an oversized flannel shirt for women. Flannel shirts are a cool and versatile garment that can be combined with other pieces, like jeans or skirts. It's my first time sewing a flannel shirt, and it seems like something simple to do, but it took me several days to make. It was a bit confusing because I still struggle with sewing the sleeves and collar, which led me to unpick and resew. This process took me a few days to finish because when I made a mistake, I would just leave it and not continue out of frustration. And from so much unpicking, I damaged the collar seam, so I decided to use a different colored fabric for that area, but one similar to the flannel. Well, today I finally finished it, and I'll share the step-by-step process, the exact moment where I made a mistake, and the final result.

Paso 1/Step 1

Lo que hice para comenzar fue marcar el patrón guía de la franela para hacer la parte de la franela,lo siguiente que hice fue doblar la tela del lado que estira y preferiblemente del revés de la tela. Marque la parte de adelante dejando bien marcado la parte del cuello y hombros,luego marque la parte de la espalda,y está tenía que estar pendiente porque la parte del cuello no será cortado al igual que la parte de adelante, por lo que solo marte un linera reta y no una curva,y ya una vez me pasó que estaba cortando una camisa y corte los dos lados iguales,pero esta vez si estaba más atenta.

What I did to begin was mark the flannel pattern guide to make the flannel piece. Next, I folded the fabric on the stretch side, preferably with the wrong side facing out. I marked the front piece, clearly marking the neck and shoulders. Then I marked the back piece, and I had to be careful with this one because the neckline won't be cut the same way as the front. So I only marked a straight line, not a curve. I'd had a similar experience once where I was cutting a shirt and accidentally cut both sides the same, but this time I was much more careful.

Paso 2/Step 2

Continue por marcar también doblando la tela hacia el lado que estira,marque la parte de las mangas,está vez las mangas son más grandes porque las oversize tienen mucha caída desde el hombro hasta las mangas,y eso es lo que me gusta de estas franelas.

Continue by also marking by folding the fabric towards the side that stretches, mark the part of the sleeves, this time the sleeves are bigger because the oversized ones have a lot of drape from the shoulder to the sleeves, and that's what I like about these flannels.

Paso 3/Step 3

En esta parte marque la medida del largo que es el cuello y de ancho son de 4 cm,pero allí fue el error porque la tela no estiraba del lado que se necesita,por lo que tuve que buscar un pedazo de tela y encontré de un azul parecido,y después eso lo arregle,claro me hubiese gustado que toda la franela fuera del mismo color pero los accidentes pasan y espero que para una otra oportunidad tenga la tela suficiente para mejorar este tipo de franela.

In this part I marked the length measurement for the neck and the width is 4 cm, but that's where the mistake was because the fabric didn't stretch on the side needed, so I had to look for a piece of fabric and I found one in a similar blue, and then I fixed that. Of course, I would have liked the whole flannel to be the same color, but accidents happen, and I hope that next time I'll have enough fabric to improve this type of flannel.

Paso 4/Step 4

Ahora como ya tenía doto cortado,pase a coser primera la parte de los hombros para unir los dos lados de la franela,cosi primera con costura recta y después las orillas sobrantes de tela los cosi con zig zag.

Now that I already had the piece cut, I proceeded to sew the shoulder part first to join the two sides of the flannel, I sewed first with a straight stitch and then I sewed the excess edges of fabric with a zigzag stitch.

Paso 5/Step 5

Continue por coser el sesgo del cuello,con ayuda de alfileres para que así quede en su lugar,y después de coser el sesgo le pase una costura que se llama sobre puntada,que va ente la línea en dónde se une el sesgo del cuello con la franela.

Continue sewing the neck bias tape, using pins to hold it in place, and after sewing the bias tape, sew a stitch called an overstitch, which goes between the line where the neck bias tape joins the flannel.

Paso 6/Step 6

Cosi después las mangas,y también me equivoqué y no una vez,fueron dos veces que cosi la manga al revés,y entonces ya para la tercera la cosi bien. Y como ya habia cosida las mangas,de una vez cosi los lados de la franela,desde la parte de la orilla de la franela hasta la orilla de la mangas, también empareje las orillas de la franela por una estaba más larga que la otra. Ya con este paso listo ya la franela tiene todo cosido, ahora faltaba un último detalle.

Next, I sewed the sleeves, and I made a mistake again, not once, but twice. I sewed the sleeve inside out, and then on the third try, I sewed it right. Since I had already sewn the sleeves, I immediately sewed the sides of the flannel, from the edge of the flannel to the edge of the sleeves. I also evened out the edges of the flannel because one was longer than the other. With this step done, the flannel was completely sewn; now there was just one last detail.

Paso 7/Step 7

Ya para acabar con esta elaboración,pase a coser las orillas de las mangas y la franela,solo doble cada orilla hacia adentro de la franela para ocultar el borde y le cosi con una costura recta.

Finally, to finish this process, proceed to sew the edges of the sleeves and the flannel. Simply fold each edge inside the flannel to hide the raw edge and sew it with a straight stitch.

Y que les ha parecido está franela oversize,fue algo laborioso pero valió la pena porque aprendí a corregir detalles que no ví a la primera,ya para otra oportunidad que haga otra franela oversize estaré más al tanto, mientras tanto me siento feliz y satisfecha por el resultado,no parece que la haya descosido varias veces 🤭 y al punto de casi dañar la tela,pero salió bien todo. Hasta la próxima.

So, what do you think of this oversized flannel? It was a bit of a labor, but it was worth it because I learned to correct details I didn't see the first time. Next time I make another oversized flannel, I'll be more careful. In the meantime, I'm happy and satisfied with the result.
