Hello to everyone in this community and fellow craft lovers! As I've gradually started selling my creations at local markets, I've been preparing by making new products, including keychains. I've seen so many cute and creative ways to make keychains that I'm eager to try out all the ones that catch my eye 😉, like the butterfly keychains I'll show you how to make today. They're simple to make but have a beautiful finish. If you enjoy sewing and origami, this project is for you 🦋

To make these keychains, we'll need fabric scraps, ribbon, and keyrings. For the fabric, cut two rectangles measuring 9cm x 18cm (to make butterflies approximately 7cm tall). I chose one piece of patterned fabric and another solid-colored piece for contrast.

Next, sew both pieces of fabric together along the entire edge, leaving an opening to turn the piece right side out. Once this is done, sew over the opening to close it and flatten the butterfly. Alternatively, you can simply hand-sew the opening and iron the piece thoroughly so the seam is invisible.

Once this is done, we will proceed to create the butterfly shape using origami-style steps. We begin by folding the piece in half and then folding it again, reducing the size of the square.

Next, starting from the edges, make the following folds on both sides, so that it looks like the photographs:

With this shape in place, we turn the piece over and move on to the next folds. From the top inwards, we fold the fabric, thus obtaining the shape of the butterfly wing.

By folding both sides and arranging the fabric, we will have the beautiful shape of a fabric butterfly 🦋

As you can imagine, if we leave it like this, our butterfly will open, so we need to secure it. Instead of using glue, as we would when making the paper figure, we'll use a few small hand stitches. This way, we'll secure all the areas where we see it's necessary. Since it's going to be a keychain, we'll also sew the small piece of ribbon to the top of the butterfly.

Finally, attach the keyring to the ribbon you sewed, and your butterfly keyring is ready! 🦋🔑

I only made two keychains and I'm thrilled with how they turned out. I'd love to make many more and add beads and sequins. They can also be used to decorate bags or hats; with a small hook, they could even be used as a lovely hair accessory 😇

¡Hola a todos los integrantes de esta comunidad y amantes de las manualidades! Dado que poco a poco he estado incorporándome a las ventas de mis creaciones a través de mercadillos locales, me he estado preparando fabricando nuevos productos, entre ellos llaveros. He visto tantas formar lindas y creativas de hacer llaveros, que estoy buscando de realizar todas las que me llamen la atención 😉 como es el caso de los llaveros que les mostraré cómo realizar el día de hoy, los cuales tienen forma de mariposa y tienen un proceso de elaboración sencillo, pero un acabado precioso. Si te gusta la costura y el origami, este proyecto es para ti 🦋

Para realizar estos llaveros, vamos a necesitar retazos de tela, cinta y aros para llavero. En cuanto a la tela, se corta un par de rectángulos de 9cm x 18 cm (para obtener mariposas de 7cm de alto aproximadamente). Yo escogí un trozo de tela estampado y otro unicolor, para que hiciera contraste.

Lo siguiente, es coser ambas piezas de tela por todo el borde, dejando una abertura para voltear la pieza y una vez hecho esto, se procede a realizar una costura por encima, para cerrar la abertura y aplanar nuestra mariposa. Aunque, si se desea, se puede cerrar la abertura con una costura a mano y planchar muy bien la pieza, solamente, para que no se vea la costura.

Una vez hecho esto, procederemos a realizar la forma de la mariposa con unos pasos al estilo del origami. Comenzamos doblando la pieza por la mitad y luego, volvemos a doblar, reduciendo el tamaño del cuadrado.

Seguidamente, desde la zona de los bordes, realizamos los siguientes dobleces de ambos lados, para que quede como se ve en las fotografías:

Teniendo esta forma, giramos la pieza y pasamos a los siguientes dobleces. Desde arriba hacia adentro, doblamos la tela, obteniendo así la forma del ala de la mariposa.

Al realizar los dobleces de ambos lados y al acomodar la tela, tendremos la hermosa forma de la mariposa hecha con tela 🦋

Como es de imaginarse, si lo dejamos así, nuestra mariposa se abrirá, por lo cual, es necesario asegurarla. En lugar de usar pegamento, como se haría al hacer la figura en papel, usaremos unas pequeñas costuras a mano. De esa forma, se aseguran todas las zonas en donde veamos, sea necesario. Dado que va a ser un llavero, aprovechamos de coser también el trocito de cinta en la parte superior de la mariposa.

Para finalizar, se coloca el aro de llavero en la cinta que cosimos y de esa forma, nuestro llavero con forma de mariposa estará listo 🦋🔑

Apenas hice dos llaveros y quedé fascinada con el resultado. Me gustaría hacer muchos más y colocarle mostacillas y lentejuelas. Así mismo, se puede utilizar también para decorar bolsos o gorros, colocándole un pequeño ganchito, podría utilizarse como precioso un adorno para el cabello 😇
