Sublime and Beautiful Sunday Watching the Azorean Whale boat crew head out

This post is for #SublimeSunday is inspired by @c0ff33a and #BeautifulSunday is initiated by @ace108.

Good morning I hope your weekend is going well

Yesterday morning, I headed out at around 5AM, as I had been in contact with a member of the Azorean Whaling boat community or club here in New Bedford, and he had told me that one of the crew would be heading out for a row at around 5:45.

I went earlier as I knew the humidity was high and it would fog up my camera lens, but I hoped getting there half an hour before it would settle down by the time the crew arrived, which it did to a degree, but not completly, and add to that it was also misty and foggy yesterday the photos I got are not that great but I am going to share them anyway.

The crew leader did offer for me to go out on the boat with them, but I wasn't feeling that great yesterday, so I declined and stayed on the shore.

I took a couple of my heavier lenses with me, and the extra weight in my arms and camera bag seemed to both the incision from my recent surgery, so I didn't stay out to long, and later in the day I was feeling nauseous and light headed, so it wasnt a great day, I am feeling a bit better this mornig, but taking it easy today.

Anyway onto the photos, this first one a couple of their boats tied up at the dock before the crew arrived.

and since I was not so happy with the photos from yesterday, here's a Shot of when the Portuguese tall Ship Sagres visited the port of New Bedford, and one of the Azorean whaling boats is in this photo.

I'm so sorry to hear you weren't feeling well and that the heavy lenses bothered your surgical incision. Listening to your body and heading back early was definitely the right call!

  • Cool shots of the whale boat crew 👍 even if they aren't up to your standard they look great to the rest of us 🙂 I love the shots of the brightly painted interiors. The local college practices rowing on Lake Dunmore but those are light weight racing shells totally different that heavy whaling boats and two person oars. Hope you are feeling better today.

Love, love, love that last photo of the canoes on the water. That bright pink just pops!

    Good morning, dear friend @tattoodjay.

It's great that you were able to go to the port to see these rowers in action.

    Excellent shots. Beautiful boats.

    Have a wonderful Sunday.

  • Good morning, Mr. @tattoodjay.
