Tuesday - some more properties on Mechanics Lane New Bedford

Good morning, and have a great day, today I will share a few more of the historic buildings on Mechanics Lane here in New Bedford, MA.

Mechanics Lane is the oldest Alley in the city apprently, First appearing on an 1834 map of New Bedford Village, the narrow street was referred to in the 1836 city directory as both Mechanics Lane and Mechanics Row.

Unlike some other streets with larger, almost mansion-like properties, it was a Working-Class area.

Originally running from County Street east to Purchase Street but with only the block between North Sixth and Eighth streets remaining intact today.

The lane featured modest 1830s homes where tradesmen, laborers, bakers, mariners, and mechanics lived and worked.

They may be modest properties but I find them still charming and great that this historic street is maintained

Such as this beautiful house.

or the B&W version- which do you think fits this property better, I am on the fence but leaning towards the B&W version myself.

as well as maintaining the properties, the street lamps and street itself are also well maintained, with all keeps the historic feel of this street

And another cool property on this street, not as big as some of the others, but even if a modest property for the working class it still has some cool details to make it stand out
