A few Historic Buildings around New Bedford MA

I know yesterday I went out of my way not to share some historic buildings, but today has been a crazy morning with seemingly everything going wrong if it can LOL Well, not as bad as that sounds. I did get out for a walk yesterday morning, which I will share photos from that walk tomorrow, but even though I thought I paced myself and didn't walk too much yesterday morning, later in the day I felt drained, so taking it easy today

So I am going back to Historic buildings, which we have so many of here in New Bedford MA.

The New Bedford Main Post Office I start with, which was built in 1915 and is at 695 Pleasant Street in downtown New Bedford, Massachusetts.

And next this is the New Bedford Free Pulic LIbrary, Originally built in 1839 as New Bedford's second town/city hall designed by architect Russell Warren, the Greek Revival structure later became home to the municipal library.

it was established in 1852, the institution is recognized as one of the earliest free municipal public libraries in the United States.

Carter’s Clothing & Footwear (established in 1947), a long-standing local staple known for workwear and outerwear.

This is the historic Bourne Warehouse & Auction Room and is located at 47–49 North Second Street.

It was built in 1887, it is a striking example of late 19th-century commercial brick architecture

It once hosted bustling auctions selling everything from antique furniture to maritime goods.

The building was acquired and saved by the Waterfront Historic Area League (WHALE) in 1975 before being restored for contemporary commercial and community

And I had to slip in one shot of a Belgian block street; this is Center Street

featuring 18th- and 19th-century brick and timber buildings, and traditional gas-style streetlamps

Great looking old buildings. I love active work like WHALE to preserve older buildings. I still like big impressive buildings like the first two even if that style has fallen out of favor. They don't build them like that anymore.
