Some cool buildings on County Street Near Grace Episcopal Church
Good morning, and have a great day. As I think I mentioned in a recent post, I recently, after a sunrise walk, stopped to take some photos of the Grace Episcopal Church here in New Bedford.
While there, I also walked up and down a couple of blocks and got some photos of the cool buildings in the area, which I will share today.
But before getting to them, I also mentioned that I had been invited to go into the church and get some photos of it. Well, between my own and my wife's medical appointments and the Church people I have been in contact with for scheduling, we haven't been able to do that just yet, but hopefully today, as you read this post, I will be going there.
First, here is 416 County Street, built in 1859.
Like many mansions along the natural ridge of County Street, the rear tower was not just decorative—it was built to give the Bartlett family a commanding view of the nearby harbor. and next 412 County Street
Built in 1842 for Samuel W. Rodman, a prominent member of New Bedford's wealthy merchant and whaling families who helped shape the economic and architectural landscape of the city.
It was designed in the grand Gothic Revival style; the three-level stone structure features notable period details, including original woodwork, multiple fireplaces, and classic craftsmanship typical of the upscale mansions lining County Street
