🇪🇸 ~ ¡Feliz NeedleWorkMonday a todos! ପ꒰⋆°͈꒳°͈꒱ 🎈 Amigos ha hecho un calor espantoso por aquí, hemos tenido días con sensación térmica de 45 a 55 grados, los días así son difíciles porque el calor es sofocante y sobre todo debilitante.
He estado preocupada por la salud de mi máquina de coser, he tenido que moverla de habitación porque en el actual cuarto para costura tanto el techo como las paredes se calientan tanto que todos los muebles y cosas dentro del cuarto se calientan también, y como la carcasa de mi Singer es plástica, imaginaran mi preocupación.
Coser en estas condiciones es muy incomodo, pero he encontrado la manera de cumplir con los favores que he recibido las ultimas semanas acomodando mi horario para coser entre el final de la tarde e inicio de la noche.

🇺🇸 ~ Happy NeedleWorkMonday, everyone! ପ꒰⋆°͈꒳°͈꒱ 🎈 Friends, it’s been terribly hot around here—we’ve had days with a heat index of 45 to 55 degrees. Days like these are tough because the heat is stifling and, above all, exhausting.
I’ve even been worried about the health of my sewing machine—I’ve had to move it to another room because in my current sewing room, both the ceiling and the walls get so hot that all the furniture and items inside the room heat up too, and since my Singer’s casing is plastic, you can imagine my concern.
Sewing under these conditions is very uncomfortable, but I’ve found a way to fulfill the favors I’ve received over the last few weeks by adjusting my schedule to sew between late afternoon and early evening.

Este clima es terrible para la creatividad, quieres hacer muchas cosas pero el calor limita los lugares de la casa donde puedes estar, y como los gatitos en casa dejan pelitos por donde pasa, no es muy saludable sacar los materiales de costura y sobre todo las telas, porque todo después debo higienizarlo.
He pasado algunas tardes libre bastante aburrida, tengo muchas ganas de coser, pero por ahora los proyectos siguen a la espera de circunstancias mejores, me niego a sentarme a coser de mala gana, menos aquellas ideas que nacieron con mucho amor y de las que he recopilado materiales con cuidado y dedicación.

This weather is terrible for creativity—you want to do so many things, but the heat limits where you can go in the house, and since the kittens at home leave little hairs everywhere they go, it’s not very healthy to bring out my sewing supplies—especially the fabrics—because I have to sanitize everything afterward.
I’ve spent a few pretty boring free afternoons; I really want to sew, but for now, my projects are on hold until circumstances improve. I refuse to sit down and sew half-heartedly—especially when it comes to those ideas that were born out of so much love and for which I’ve gathered materials with care and dedication.

Viendo la otra cara de la moneda, he encontrado algo de consuelo desglosando proyectos en pequeñas sesiones de estudio de composición de atuendos.
Por ejemplo una amiga muy linda quiere hacer el traje de Wind Master (de la novela TGCF) y nos encontramos hace unos días conversando sobre cómo llevar esa idea del papel a la tela de forma efectiva, considerando los materiales que se pueden conseguir en los almacenes de nuestra ciudad.

Looking at the other side of the coin, I’ve found some comfort in breaking down projects into small sessions dedicated to studying costume design.
For example, a very sweet friend of mine wants to make the Wind Master costume (from the novel TGCF), and a few days ago we got together to talk about how to effectively bring that idea from paper to fabric, taking into account the materials available at the stores in our city.
✦ A historically accurate costume has more pieces; this is a simple concept that aims to imitate the layered style ✦
✦ I really enjoy drawing these sketches to go along with my explanation of how I would sew this outfit ✦
✦ I start by sketching some basic silhouettes in pencil without getting too technical; the “the simpler, the better” approach has worked well for me ✦
✦ I've included brief explanations of the length of each piece for my friend, as well as the order in which they are placed ✦
✦ Given the weather where we live, wearing a faux-collar to skip a layer is more of a necessity than a whim ✦
✦ I think it is understandable, in a very simplified way ✦
✦ This type of outfit worn by the characters in the novel is almost the same—the typical pleated hanfu skirt ✦
✦ I think this would be the most fun part to make—it has narrow sections, and it's the one you can decorate the most since it's the final layer between the tunics ✦

"Descomponer" para entender cómo hacer este tipo de trajes me entretiene mucho, los latinos tenemos un cuerpo diferente a los asiáticos y eso tiene influencia en cómo recreamos estos personajes, en caso que al modelo le preocupe el tema de la similitud física.
Mi amiga parecía muy contenta cuando le envié estas fotos, me emociona imaginarla cosiendo porque sé que este personaje le quedara hermoso, como todo lo que ha usado antes.
Espero todos estén bien en casa, y espero que el clima mejore por acá, qué malo es sentirte tan restringido por factores que no puedes controlar ʅ(๑ ᷄ω ᷅ )ʃ
“Breaking it down” to understand how to make these kinds of costumes really entertains me. We Latinos have a different body type than Asians, and that influences how we recreate these characters—in case the model is concerned about physical resemblance.
My friend seemed really happy when I sent her these photos. I get excited just imagining her sewing because I know this costume will look beautiful on her, just like everything she’s worn before.
I hope everyone is doing well at home, and I hope the weather gets better around here. It’s so frustrating to feel so restricted by factors you can’t control ʅ(๑ ᷄ω ᷅ )ʃ
