ENGLISH VERSION

My review of Enchanted (2007)

Hello Scrobble community, today I bring you this movie about princesses, princes, and fairy tales, hehe, but with a different style.

Go grab some popcorn and let the movie begin.

🎬 A little context

Giselle is a young woman who dreams of one day finding her true love, getting married, and living happily for the rest of her life. One day she dreams that she has found him and that he is the one, but upon waking up she realizes it was all a dream.

But he couldn't get his face out of his head, so to remember him, he started making a kind of doll to keep him in mind.

One day, while walking through the forest, she encounters a large monster that starts chasing her. At that moment, a knight appears and saves her. They see each other and fall in love quickly, so they decide to get married.

But Giselle didn't know that this young prince had a stepmother who was very obsessed with power, so she was going to do everything possible to prevent her stepson from marrying and, consequently, for this young woman to steal her crown.

Before reaching the church, Giselle encounters an old woman who takes her to a wishing well so she can make her wish, but while she is thinking about her wish, the old woman pushes her and sends her to a world completely different from her own.

Giselle wakes up super confused and very scared, but decides to see where she was and, above all, to go back to her boyfriend to get married.

Where did this old woman send Giselle? Will she be able to return to her world?

If you want to know what happens, I invite you to watch the movie; you will see that the story takes an unexpected turn.

TRAILER:

⚠ ALERT: From now on, there will be many spoilers, so you have been warned.

♥ What I liked the most

This is a movie with an unusual story. It's about a young woman who falls into the real world and faces the harsh reality. Giselle realizes that everything she had learned and seen in her world is very superficial and unreal.

This is like a bucket of cold water that falls on this young woman: in the real world, everything seems dark, there is no happiness, and everything seems to have very strict rules.

I really like the scene where Giselle, after wandering through various places, finds herself exhausted, and when it seems she sees a castle, she realizes it was just an advertisement. At that moment, a young man named Robert Philip, along with his daughter Morgan, helps Giselle.

To not leave her alone, they let her sleep in their house so that, the next day, they could help her return to the place she belongs, but obviously, it wasn't going to be possible because apparently, Giselle had come out of a fairy tale.

In that, she gets to know better the customs and traditions of the real world. He realizes that everyone seems to live sad or without any kind of dream, and that seems super sad to him. But at the same time, he also knows the beautiful things about that place, like the music, the dance, and very kind people.

That's where Giselle starts to sing and dance. I really like that scene because the lyrics of the song are very catchy but beautiful. Elderly people dance, newlywed couples dance, all so that Robert can be more romantic and express his feelings toward his girlfriend, Nancy.

Another very nice scene is when Morgan helps Giselle get ready for the dance: she uses a credit card to buy clothes, shoes, accessories, and go to the hairdresser, while they talk about life, like not having a mom and having a stepmother, and about men, hehe.

Then come the parts where Robert starts to fall in love with Giselle: he remembers her because she tore up her curtains to make a dress, or when she sang to him, or when she shared some ideas about what love should be like.

There is also the scene where Edward goes to find Giselle in the real world, accompanied by the squirrel Pip. He searches for her everyplace, and when he arrives at a large park while singing and dancing, he bumps into several cyclists passing by.

This scene happened by mistake, but they decided to keep it since it fit perfectly with the moment, besides being super funny, hehe.

Finally, there's the part where Giselle saves Robert from the dragon and then they end up getting married and living in the real world. And, on the other hand, Edward falls in love and stays with Nancy in the fairy tale world.

☁ Some reflections

It's a story that takes an unexpected turn, haha, because at first Giselle had already dreamed of her ideal love, and it did turn out to be true, but she had confused him: in reality, the one she had seen was Robert.

Now, the queen, like in typical princess stories, doesn't want another girl to take her throne, so she does everything to prevent it. In this case, she not only ruins Giselle but also enchants her stepson so that he doesn't marry her.

I like the idea that the couples who formed lived in the worlds they wanted: on one hand, Nancy wanted a fairy tale love, so she goes to live in that world.

Meanwhile, Giselle, after having experienced and learned about real life, decides to stay and live new things that go beyond what was usually perfect in fairy tales.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this movie and I would like you to tell me in the comments which scene you liked the most.

See you in the next post.
