Organizer for my rules / Organizador para mis reglas

As you can see from my cover photo, I certainly have a lot of rulers—of different sizes, colors, shapes, and uses, many even duplicates. I have three children, and they've always had their own school and university supplies, but two of them now work as digital illustrators, and my third daughter is studying systems engineering. So, they gradually stopped using those tools, and I've inherited them, since I currently work in creative stationery.

But I had them all in this basket, very tightly packed and a bit unsightly among my other materials. So today, I decided to make an organizer for my rulers that would harmonize with the rest of my workspace decor, with light colors, pinks, and cute themes. I'll show you the step-by-step process below... Welcome!

Como pueden ver en mi portada, ciertamente tengo muchas, muchas reglas, de diferentes tamaños, colores, formas, utilidad, muchas incluso repetidas. Y es que tengo 3 hijos, y siempre han tenido sus materiales de colegio y de universidad cada uno, pero ya dos de ellos trabajan como Ilustradores Digitales, y mi tercera hija estudia Ingeniería de Sistemas, de manera que progresivamente dejaron de usar esos útiles y los he heredado yo, ya que trabajo Papelería Creativa actualmente.

Pero tenía todas en esta cesta, muy apretadas y algo desagradables de ver entre mis materiales. Así que hoy, me decidí a hacer un Organizador para mis reglas, que estuviese en armonía con toda la decoración de mi lugar de trabajo, con colores claros, rosados y temáticas tiernas. Te muestro el paso a paso a continuación... Bienvenidos.

If you look closely, the photos in my posts always have my desk and wall in the background, and you can always see the projects I make to decorate my space, with very feminine, vintage elements. Little by little, I've incorporated kawaii and pink styles, which I've adopted quite spontaneously, simply because I love the colors and the atmosphere I create. It's very inspiring to work and see the creations that accompany me.

That's why my crafts have to turn out well, no matter what. I would never make something I wouldn't use in my own home; that's a fundamental principle in my life. But anyway... let's get to the tutorial.

Si se fijan un poco, las fotos de mis publicaciones siempre tienen de fondo mi escritorio y la pared, y en ellas siempre pueden ver los proyectos que hago para decorar mi espacio, con elementos muy femeninos, vintage, y poco a poco he incorporado estilos Kawaii, rosados, que he ido adoptando desprevenidamente, solo porque me encantan lo colores, y la ambientación que logro, es muy inspirador trabajar y ver las Creaciones que me acompañan.

Por eso, mis manualidades deben quedar bien si o si, nunca haría algo que no usaría en mi hogar, esa es una máxima en mi vida. Pero bueno... vamos al Tutorial.

🍩 Cut off one side of the box and glue the remaining sides securely to ensure its integrity during use.

🍩 Measure the width of the box and cut a thick pink strip that goes all the way around. If necessary, cut more strips to cover the entire box. It's best to use a ruler and craft knife for this cut to ensure a clean, neat edge.

🍩 Recortar uno de los lados de la caja y pegar bien los lados restantes, para garantizar su integridad en el uso. 🍩 Mide el ancho de la caja y recorta una franja gruesa rosada que abarque todo el alrededor, si es necesario corta las que puedan llegar a cubrir toda la caja. Este corte es recomendable hacerlo con regla y cúter, para lograr un corte prolijo.

🍩 Cut thinner strips for a design on top of the box, or however you like.

🍩 Have all the pieces ready to cover the box on all sides.

🍩 Corta franjas más delgadas para un diseño en la parte superior de la caja, o como sea tu gusto. 🍩 Disponer de todas las piezas necesarias para cubrir el tamaño de la caja por todos sus lados.

🍩 Glue with hot glue 🍩 Glue the necessary strips to create continuity, taking care to make the seams look as neat as possible.

🍩 Pegar con silicón caliente 🍩 Pegar las tiras necesarias para dar continuidad, teniendo cuidado para que se vean lo más prolijo posible en los empates.

🍩 Glue the glitter foam strips to the top using hot glue.

🍩 Cut much thinner strips, about 1 cm wide, to place around the edge of the box; this will give it a neater finish.

🍩 Pegar con silicón caliente las tiras de foami escarchado en la parte superior. 🍩 Cortar unas tiras mucho más delgadas, de 1cms aproximadamente, para colocar en la parte del borde de la caja, esto le dará un mejor acabado.

🍩 Use some figures or stickers to decorate the front.

🍩 Glue small pieces of foam to the back of the figures before attaching them to the box, as this will add dimension and interest to the design.

🍩 Disponer de algunas figuras o stickers para decorar la parte frontal. 🍩 Pegar trocitos de foami en el reverso de las figuras antes de pegarlas a la caja, ya que esto le dará más dimensión e interés al diseño.

This organizer for my rulers could have easily been left as is; it already looks great and is ready to sit on my desk. But I wanted the option of hanging it on the wall in case I needed to free up my desk space for crafts or sewing. So, I added a string for hanging it.

Este Organizador para mis reglas, bien hubiese podido dejarlo hasta aquí, ya luce muy bien y está listo para estar ubicado en mi escritorio, pero quería tener la opción de colgarlo en la pared, en caso de necesitar tener mi escritorio más disponible para trabajar con alguna manualidad o costura. Así que, procedí a incorporar un cuerda para colgarlo.

🍩 Cut a piece of string or cord the length of the box, plus a little extra for tying and hanging.

🍩 Make holes along the sides of the box.

🍩 Thread the string through the holes from the outside in, as it will be tied there.

🍩 Cortar un trozo de cordón o rabo de ratón, que sea el largo de la caja, más un poco más para amarres y poder colgarlo. 🍩 Realiza perforaciones en los laterales de la caja 🍩 Pasa el cordón desde afuera hacia adentro, ya que se amarrará ahí.

🍩 Place a stone or acrylic bead on both ends of the cord on the inside of the box; this will act as a stopper to prevent the cord from eventually coming out.

🍩 Coloca unas piedra o cuenta acrílica en ambos extremos del cordón por la parte interna de la caja, esto hará de tope para evitar que se salga el cordón eventualmente.

Now this beautiful organizer for my rulers is finally ready! The box was rectangular, which made it perfect for organizing them. Of course, I had to throw away the rulers that were in worse shape, but I still kept many.

These materials are very special to me, as I bought them years ago for my children. They took great care of them during their school years, and they gave them to me now that they're professionals and involved in other activities. They have a history and a lot of love.

Ahora si está listo este bello Organizador para mis reglas, la forma de la caja era rectangular y por ello me pareció perfecta para organizarlas dentro. Por supuesto, que tuve de decidir botar las reglas que estaban más feas, aún así conservé muchas.

Estos materiales son muy especiales para mí, ya que se las compré hace años a mis hijos, ellos las cuidaron mucho durante sus años de estudio, y me las regalaron ahora que ya son profesionales y están en otras actividades. Tienen historia y mucho amor.

If I ever need to clear my desk, this organizer has the option of a strip for hanging it on the wall. I hung mine next to my studio door; it's not in the way, doesn't take up extra space, and isn't obstructing anything else.

Being able to hang the organizer is a great feature. When everything is tidy, the problem isn't noticeable, but when you're working and have a lot of materials and tools scattered around, they can get in the way. Being able to simply hang the organizer, with all the necessary tools, is a huge plus for this project and makes working easier.

Si eventualmente necesito tener más despejado y libre mi escritorio, este Organizador tiene la opción de disponer de una tira para colgar la caja en la pared, aquí la colgué al lado la puerta de entrada de mi estudio, no molesta, no ocupa un espacio adicional, ni están estorbando en otro lugar.

Es una excelente opción poder colgar el Organizador, ya que cuando todo está ordenado no se ve el problema, pero cuando uno está trabajando y tiene un montón de materiales y herramientas regados, si terminan estorbando muchas cosas. Pero poder simplemente colgar el Organizados con todas las reglas, es un Plus en este proyecto para facilitar las dinámicas de trabajo.
