It is #BeerSaturday time of week again like it has been for just over 9 years! We haven't heard from ur good friend @detlev in well over a month and it is about to drive us to drink! At #beersaturday, however, the show must go on and the beer must flow.

This week, east vs west is no longer just a rap territory battle, it is a contrast of styles and tastes in IPA.

First, the Shorty of the Week!

Short cans are increasingly rarer here as pint cans have taken over as the delivery vessels of choice. So, 355ml cans like this one from Short Finger Brewing is not only rare, but usually result in an uncommon beer. Even better when it is a combination of east and west coast styles.

True Believer APA (American Pale Ale) is a par for the course for this very small and exclusive brewery. Not listed on their website, is seems every beer is a one-off surprise you have to enjoy while you can. A little light on the alcohol for an APA for me, it was plenty hazy and unique. If I find it again, I would definitely take a few home for the fridge. Most likely, I will just have to enjoy their next batch and unique recipe.

# Left Hand Path! Westy!

Lately it seems, sessions have been in front of the baseball game on television as the Toronto Blue Jays desperately cling to hopes for the last wildcard spot into the playoffs. A baseball game usually means a few beers and I often don't remember to take pics. I did with this [Left Hand Path](www.thirdmoonbrewing.com/products/west-coast-ipa-4-pk-of-left-hand-path-mosaic-tall-cans) from Third Moon Brewing. It is one of those fantastic discoveries from the local bottle shop with the amazing curator.

I am a big fan of West Coast style IPAs as I discovered them before East Coast, and I enjoy a solid bitterness and bit of malt to thicken up the body. Plus, Mosaic hops are in my top 3 and I was happy to see their goal of "west coast drinkability while showcasing the highly fruit-forward hops we love in hazy IPAs" This is a hit and I look forward to more Third Moon!

# HornCackler East Coast IPA

And in the east corner, [Badlands Brewing](www.badlandsbrewing.ca) with another terrific, new school hazy east coast IPA. These are generally a little sweeter with fruit notes where dry and pine is pushed to the background flavour. I have really enjoyed their other beers and the design / branding is really up my alley.

Horncackler is not only come and gone, it packs a wild tale of lore. Listed as an APA, the Citra and Peacharine hops, yellow colour and haze make it an east coaster for me. A Horncackler is a beast of a 3-year-old's imagination and is as good a brand as any other in the wild west of craft beer themes. Definitely hazy and tropical and delicious. Again, another breewery I have only recently discovered and have enjoyed every one of their widely various beers I have had so far. Can't wait for the next one.

# Back to Brewing

Tomorrow is a big brewery day here. Plenty of fixin' and maintenenace while we brew 2 full batches. I am aiming to craft up an east coast in the big brewer while another west coast brews in the little one. I only have 2 taps at home and I just love having a west coast on the left and and east coast on the right tap.

Many will pick a winner between east and west but I love them both for all each offer.
