¡Hola amigos de Hive! En el día de hoy les voy a hablar de una película francesa que vi hace poco: Mystère.
Hello friends of Hive! Today I'm going to tell you about a French movie I saw recently: Mystère.
Este tipo de películas son un placer culposo para mí porque siempre me terminan conmoviendo hasta las lágrimas. Desde entrada sé que en determinado momento me voy a emocionar y, sin embargo, las miro. Es que siento que hay algo maravilloso en el vínculo que se puede formar con un ser vivo de otra especie, aunque a veces esa otra especie pueda ser "peligrosa". Hay muchos ejemplos verdaderos de esto, y está película es uno de ellos porque está basada en hechos reales.
These types of films are a guilty pleasure for me because they always end up moving me to tears. From the very beginning I know that at a certain moment I am going to get emotional and, nevertheless, I watch them. I feel that there is something wonderful in the bond that can be formed with a living being of another species, even if sometimes that other species can be "dangerous". There are many true examples of this, and this film is one of them because it is based on real events.
Trama - Plot
Victoria (Shanna Keil) es una niña de 8 años que acaba de perder a su madre y a causa de ese dolor ya no habla. Su padre, Sthèpane (Vincent Elbaz), piensa que es buena idea empezar de cero en otro lugar y decide dejar la ciudad para mudarse a un pueblo donde tiene una casa que le pertenece a su familia y solía pasar las vacaciones allí, en la región montañosa.
Victoria (Shanna Keil) is an 8-year-old girl who has just lost her mother and because of this pain she no longer speaks. Her father, Sthèpane (Vincent Elbaz), thinks it is a good idea to start from scratch somewhere else and decides to leave the city to move to a village where he has a house that belongs to his family and he used to spend his vacations there, in the mountainous region.
Un día Sthèpane convence a su hija para que lo acompañe a explorar la zona y se terminan perdiendo. Hasta que encuentran la casa de un granjero y van a pedirle ayuda. Victoria se entusiasma con los animales y en uno de sus recorridos por el lugar descubre a un pequeño cachorro durmiendo en un barril. El dueño del lugar se acerca y le dice que se llama Mystère (Misterio), como ve que el cachorro y la niña congenian muy bien decide regalárselo diciéndole que es un regalo del bosque.
One day Sthèpane convinces his daughter to accompany him to explore the area and they end up getting lost. Until they find a farmer's house and go to ask him for help. Victoria becomes enthusiastic about animals and on one of her tours of the place she discovers a small puppy sleeping in a barrel. The owner of the place approaches her and tells her that his name is Mystère (Mystery), as he sees that the puppy and the girl get along very well, he decides to give it to her as a gift, telling her that it is a gift from the forest.
Victoria en un principio lo esconde de su padre pero al final lo descubre, aunque este acepta que se lo quede porque la niña logró mejorar desde que ese cachorro llegó a sus brazos y de nuevo comenzó a hablar. Así Victoria y Misterio se hacen inseparables, van a todos lados juntos. Hasta lo presume en su nueva escuela. Sin embargo, el cachorro empieza a crecer de forma exponencial y en un momento, alertado por una mamá de la escuela donde asiste Victoria, Sthèpane empieza a sospechar que Misterio podría no ser un perro, sino un lobo.
At first Victoria hides him from her father but in the end she discovers him, although he agrees to keep him because the girl managed to improve since the puppy came into his arms and began to talk again. So Victoria and Misterio become inseparable, they go everywhere together. She even shows him off at her new school. However, the puppy begins to grow exponentially and at one point, alerted by a mother from the school where Victoria attends, Sthèpane begins to suspect that Mystery might not be a dog, but a wolf.
Lo que trae graves repercusiones en el pueblo porque los granjeros están en contra de estos animales salvajes porque se comen sus ganados y salen a matarlos. Ahora Sthèpane se ve en la difícil decisión de tener que hacer lo correcto y separar a su hija del cachorro, para proteger tanto a ella como al lobo, a riesgo de que esta vuelva a encerrarse en sí misma.
This has serious repercussions in the village because the farmers are against these wild animals because they eat their livestock and go out to kill them. Now Sthèpane is faced with the difficult decision of having to do the right thing and separate her daughter from the cub, in order to protect both her and the wolf, at the risk of her going back into herself.
Opinión personal - Personal opinion
Si con tan solo escribir el párrafo de arriba me hizo acordar a esa parte difícil y se me estrujó el corazón. Sin lugar a dudas es una película muy conmovedora, sobre todo si les gustan los animales tanto como a mí. Lo es todavía más si involucra niños con traumas que necesitaban un compañero como este para salir adelante.
Just writing the above paragraph reminded me of that difficult part and my heart was squeezed. It is without a doubt a very touching movie, especially if you like animals as much as I do. It is even more so if it involves children with traumas who needed a companion like this to help them through.
Es maravilloso ver cómo crece el vínculo entre Vicky y Misterio. Ambos se necesitaban porque los dos habían perdido a sus madres. Ese paralelismo estuvo acertado. El lobo tomó a la niña como parte de su manada, dormían hasta juntos. Jamás le hizo daño a ella ni a ningún otro humano. Me resultó curioso que el resto del pueblo no hubiera notado antes que el supuesto perro era un lobo, siendo un lugar donde es común encontrarse con estos animales. Al parecer Victoria sí lo sabía.
It is wonderful to see the bond between Vicky and Misterio grow. They both needed each other because they had both lost their mothers. That parallel was spot on. The wolf took the girl as part of his pack, they even slept together. He never hurt her or any other human. I found it curious that the rest of the town hadn't noticed before that the supposed dog was a wolf, being a place where it is common to encounter these animals. Apparently Victoria did.
Pienso que ese lobo vino no solo a ayudar a la niña, sino que a Sthèpane también. Porque él cargaba con la culpa de no haber sido el cirujano que operó a su esposa, a pesar de que no podría haberlo hecho, pero siente que sí lo hubiera hecho quizá se habría salvado. En algún momento de la película va a tener su revancha y salvar la vida de Misterio.
I think that wolf came not only to help the girl, but Sthèpane as well. Because he was carrying the guilt of not having been the surgeon who operated on his wife, even though he couldn't have done it, but he feels that if he had done it maybe he would have been saved. At some point in the film he is going to have his revenge and save Mysterio's life.
El crecimiento de Victoria también es muy notable porque al final entiende que lo mejor es que Misterio viva con otros de su misma especie para hacer vida de lobo y que ella no podría ser parte de su manada. Además de que él corría peligro si se quedaba con ellos.
Victoria's growth is also very noticeable because in the end she understands that it is best for Mystery to live with others of her own kind to make wolf life and that she could not be part of their pack. Plus he was in danger if he stayed with them.
Está película sabe tocar una fibra sensible al espectador. Nos habla sobre la pérdida, el duelo, el valor, la fortaleza para salir adelante y aceptar que a veces tenés que dejar ir.
This film knows how to strike a chord with the viewer. It talks about loss, grief, courage, the strength to move forward and to accept that sometimes you have to let go.
Palabras finales - Closing words
Cuando terminé de ver esta película la vi a mi perra durmiendo al lado mío y no pude más que sentirme agradecida de poder compartir mi vida con ella, por el tiempo que sea. Me resultó una historia muy hermosa, justo del tipo que me encanta. Así que si piensan que la pueden disfrutar los animo a que la miren. También les cuento que la película dura 1 hora y 24 minutos aproximadamente. Dentro de todo es corta, cosa que aprecio porque a veces cuando son muy largas me cuesta encontrar el tiempo ideal para verlas de un tirón. Y a pesar de ser corta creo que estuvo bastante bien desarrollada. No dejó ningún clavo suelto. Sin dudas es de esas películas que recomendaré a partir de ahora.
When I finished watching this movie I saw my dog sleeping next to me and I couldn't help but feel grateful to be able to share my life with her, for however long. I found it to be a very beautiful story, just the kind I love. So if you think you might enjoy it I encourage you to watch it. Also, the movie is about 1 hour and 24 minutes long. All in all it is short, which I appreciate because sometimes when they are very long I find it hard to find the ideal time to watch them in one sitting. And despite being short I think it was quite well developed. It didn't leave any loose nail. Without a doubt it is one of those movies that I will recommend from now on.
