Hello friends, long time without doing any analysis of a movie, the truth is that I had not seen a new title that caught my attention, however this new year I had the opportunity to see a new movie that is classified as a horror film . This is MEGAN (2022) produced last year and released a few days ago, by James Wan and Gerard Johnstone. In my opinion, this film was very well promoted and I think it took a step forward in terms of science cinema fiction is concerned, by including some scenes that could be considered as horror.
Hola amigos, mucho tiempo sin hacer ningún análisis de una película, la verdad es que no había visto un nuevo titulo que me llamara la atención, sin embargo este nuevo año tuve la oportunidad de ver una nueva película que esta catalogada como una película de terror. Se trata de MEGAN (2022) producida el año pasado y estrenada hace unos días, por James Wan y Gerard Johnstone. En mi opinión, esta película estuvo muy bien promocionada y creo que dio un paso adelante en cuanto al cine de ciencia ficción se refiere, al incluir algunas escenas que podrían ser consideradas como de terror.
Synopsis
Gemma is a brilliant robotics engineer, works for a large toy company, and has been the creator of a line that is soon to be replaced by something better. His most brilliant work will be MEGAN, a very realistic doll that is operated by an artificial intelligence, this doll is going to replace the company's previous toys and all toys in general, but in this beginning everything is going to get out of control when the doll takes its programming very seriously. In the middle of everything is little Cady, Gemma's niece, who lost her parents in an accident, and will now be under the guardianship of her aunt, who has no better idea than to make her a participant in the development of MEGAN.
Gemma es una brillante ingeniera en robótica, trabaja para una gran empresa de juguetes y ha sido la creadora de una línea que esta pronto a ser reemplazada por algo mejor. Su trabajo más brillante sera MEGAN, una muñerca muy realista que es operada por una inteligencia artificial, esta muñeca va a reemplazar a los juguetes anteriores de la empresa y a todos los juguetes en general, pero en este comienzo todo se va a salir de control cuando la muñeca se tome muy en serio su programación. En medio de todo está la pequeña Cady, sobrina de Gemma, quien perdió a sus padres en un accidente, ahora estará bajo la tutela de su tía, que no tiene otra mejor idea que hacerla partícipe del desarrollo de MEGAN.
Now, my opinion is that the film does not present anything new, neither in the plot nor in the special effects, but if it touches on topics that seem very interesting to me, I speak as a father. Although he talks about Artificial Intelligence, we have seen this before with the Terminator, Matrix, Yo Robot and an endless number of other very good films, the difference lies in my opinion that it presents us with a very interesting moral dilemma, the fact that that technology replace people, not only at a technical and work level, but also emotionally.
Ahora, mi opinión es que la película no presenta nada nuevo, ni en la trama ni en efectos especiales pero si toca temas que me parecen muy interesantes, hablo como padre. Si bien habla de la Inteligencia Artificial, esto ya lo hemos visto antes con Terminator, Matrix, Yo Robot y un sin fin de otras películas muy buenas, la diferencia radica a mi parecer a que nos presenta un dilema moral muy interesante, el hecho de que la tecnología reemplace a las personas, no solo a nivel técnico y laboral, sino también en la parte emocional.
The circle where the plot unfolds is very small, more than a circle it would be a triangle, in this figure are Gemma, Cady and MEGAN, as I see it it is a kind of family, since Cady will now be under Gemma's care, But she has some problems, one of them is her Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder that leads her to be only focused on her work and at the same time prevents her from taking care of Cady in the best way, and the other problem is her refusal to be a mother. . I think that this knot is the one that unleashes all the events that take place in the story: Gemma is a woman who resists being a mother, but due to things of fate she has to be the mother of her niece and at the same time, like Geppeto, she creates a murderous Pinocchio Titanium with superhuman strength, which becomes his own creation. His denial of his own nature flows, or manifests itself in another very disturbing way.
El círculo donde se desenvuelve la trama es muy pequeño, más que un círculo sería un triángulo, en dicha figura estan Gemma, Cady y MEGAN, como yo lo veo es una especie de familia, ya que Cady ahora estará bajo el cuidado de Gemma, pero ella tiene algunos problemas, uno de ellos es su Trastorno Obsesivo-compulsivo que le lleva a estar solamente enfocada en su trabajo y que a la vez le impide cuidar de la mejor manera a Cady, y el otro problema es su negación a ser madre. Creo que este nudo es el que desata todos los acontecimientos acaecidos en la historia: Gemma es una mujer que se resiste a ser madre, pero por cosas del destino le toca ser madre de su sobrina y a la vez como Geppeto, crea a un Pinocho asesino de titanio con fuerza sobre-humana, que se convierte en su propia creación. Su negacionismo a su propia naturaleza desemboca, o se manifiesta de otra manera muy perturbadora.
Cady is the victim in all this, she has suffered a great loss at her young age which leads her to feel withdrawn and very confused, she just wants someone to understand the pain she is carrying in her heart, and the one who fills that great void is Megan . A very personal opinion is that Cady represents the children and young people of today, the indifference of their parents and the little care they take towards their children leads them to have the great idea of buying objects for their children with the purpose of "entertaining" them. This was what I liked the most about the film and what caught my attention, a very well exposed metaphor about the responsibility of parents today. No object, no matter how intelligent it may be, will ever replace the presence of a father, it is not necessary for a killer robot to replace us, the internet, and so many other things could do it.
Cady es la víctima en todo esto, ha sufrido una gran perdida a su corta edad lo que la lleva a sentirse retraída y muy confundida, solo quiere que alguien entienda el dolor que esta llevando en su corazón, y quien llena ese gran vacío es Megan. Una opinión muy personal es que Cady representa a los niños y jovenes de ahora, la indiferencia de sus padres y el poco cuidado de estos hacia sus hijos les lleva a tener la gran idea de comprarle objetos a sus hijos con el propósito de "entretenerlos" esto fue lo que más me gustó de la película y que atrapó mi atención, una metáfora muy bien expuesta sobre la responsabilidad de los padres en la actualidad. Ningún objeto por más inteligente que sea nunca va a reemplazar la presencia de un padre, no es necesario que un robot asesino sea quien nos reemplace, internet, y tantas cosas más podrían hacerlo.
And speaking of MEGAN, I don't think this doll is bad like Skynet from Terminator or Chucky, although the latter has already become a supernatural entity. MEGAN does not hate humanity, nor does she want to exterminate it, she just wants to fulfill her purpose, which is to protect Cady. This is what leads her little by little down a path of death from which she will not stop, I like how MEGAN is conceived because she is not bad or an evil entity, she is only following a program and although she is a self-learning intelligence, all the knowledge he acquires is to fulfill his purpose. This killer robot is a reflection of the toy company, totally dehumanized, where everything is a product, it is interesting how it makes a good critique of an industry that spares no effort to manipulate the little ones with unimaginable amounts of advertising.
Y hablando de MEGAN, no creo que esta muñeca sea mala como Skynet de Terminator o Chucky, aunque este último ya se ha convertido en un ente sobrenatural. MEGAN no odia a la humanidad, ni quiere exterminarla, solo quiere cumplir su propósito el cual es proteger a Cady. Esto es lo que la lleva poco a poco por un camino de muerte del cual no se detendrá, me gusta como esta concebida MEGAN porque no es mala ni un ente de la maldad, solo esta siguiendo un programa y aunque es una inteligencia de autoaprendizaje, todo lo el conocimiento que adquiere es para cumplir con su proposito. Este robot asesino es el reflejo de la compañia de juguetes, totalmente deshumanizada, dondo todo es un producto, es interesante como hace una buena crítica de una industria que no escatima esfuerzos para manipular a los más pequeños con cantidades inimaginables de publicidad.
As a final opinion I must say that it is entertaining, it has some references to other films that I think are very good, the performances were also impeccable, especially MEGAN, when I saw the film I thought it was computer animation, but I was very surprised when I found out there was a little actress under that cold mask with menacing eyes. I think the story is refreshing, although it is a cliché, the moral dilemma is very good and perfect for debating and drawing conclusions. It doesn't have the terror that is expected from some films of this kind, but I think it doesn't need it, the suspense it has makes up for it very well, I recommend it to anyone who is interested in this type of story. Como opinión final debo decir que es entretenida, tiene algunas referencias a otras cintas que me parcen muy buenas, tambien las actuaciones fueron impecables, especialmente de MEGAN, al ver la película pensé que se trataba de animación por computadora, pero mi sorpresa fue muy grande cuando supe que había una pequeña actriz bajo esa fría máscara de ojos amenazadores. Creo que la historia es refrescante, si bien es un cliché, el dilema moral es muy bueno y perfecto para debatir y sacar conclusiones. No tiene el terror que se espera de algunas películas de esta clase pero creo que no le hace falta, el suspenso que tiene la compensa muy bien, la recomiendo a todo aquél que les interese este tipo de historia..
