Hola amantes del cine y la televisión en hive, hoy una vez más les comparto mi opinión sobre el cuarto episodio de la serie basada en el videojuego, The Last Of Us y si aún no lo han visto pues los invito a hacerlo ya que hablaré con spoilers en este post. Espero les guste y los invito a leerme! 🎬✨
Hello movie and TV lovers in hive, today once again I share with you my opinion about the fourth episode of the series based on the video game, The Last Of Us and if you haven't seen it yet then I invite you to do so as I will talk with spoilers in this post. Inicio/Beginning
Comenzando el capítulo nos encontramos con una ellie practicando en frente de un espejo apuntando con una pistola, mostrando que cada vez más está intentando ganar confianza ya que sabe que debe proteger a Joel así como este la proteje a ella. En camino a Wyoming, en donde según Joel estará su hermano y que quizás éste los ayude a dar con las luciérnagas se encuentran con algunos inconvenientes como desde buscar gasolina a dormir en lo profundo del bosque para protegerse por una amenaza mayor que el propio cordyceps, las personas. Poco a poco se va tejiendo la relación entre Joel y Ellie a medida que ésta cuenta algunos chistes de un libro de chistes que tomo de casa de Bill, tratando de derribar una vez más las paredes de la indiferencia de Joel aún así este le deja claro que solo es una carga que debe entregar ya fue una promesa que le hizo a Tess.
Una vez más recreando las escenas de ellie y sus chistes malos en el videojuego y no solo ésta escena forma parte de las escenas idénticas al juego sino que la escena en la que Ellie le muestra a Joel que tiene una revisa para adultos bromeando un poco con Joel, además de la escena del casette de música, en dónde los diálogos son exactamente iguales a los del videojuego, mostrando una vez más el compromiso de los directores y creadores de la serie de adaptar bien la serie.
Beginning the chapter we find Ellie practicing in front of a mirror pointing a gun, showing that she is increasingly trying to gain confidence as she knows she must protect Joel as he protects her. On their way to Wyoming, where Joel says his brother will be and that maybe he will help them find the fireflies, they encounter some inconveniences from finding gas to sleeping deep in the woods to protect themselves from a bigger threat than the cordyceps itself, people. Gradually the relationship between Joel and Ellie is woven as Ellie tells some jokes from a joke book she took from Bill's house, trying to once again break down the walls of Joel's indifference even as he makes it clear to her that she is just a burden to deliver as it was a promise he made to Tess.
Once again recreating the scenes of Ellie and his bad jokes in the video game and not only this scene is part of the scenes identical to the game but the scene in which Ellie shows Joel that she has a review for adults joking a little with Joel, in addition to the scene of the music cassette, where the dialogues are exactly the same as the video game, showing once again the commitment of the directors and creators of the series to adapt the series well.
El cuarto episodio titulado "Por favor toma mi mano" se estrenó el domingo 5 de febrero a las 10 pm (Venezuela) tanto en los canales HBO cómo en su plataforma HBOMAX y cuenta con una duración de 45 minutos (siendo así uno de los más cortos de la serie). En este episodio nos centramos en nuestros protagonistas quienes luego de tener algunos inconvenientes para cruzar parte del país se ven envueltos en una emboscada en Kansas City por lo que parece ser un grupo de sobrevivientes, estos se ven obligados a huir y esconderse en un edificio abandonado, mientras tanto el grupo que lidera en la ciudad se da cuenta de los nuevos visitantes y forman un plan para atraparlos, a su vez intentan dar con el paradero de Henry y Sam, quienes son considerados una amenaza.
Nuevos personajes se unen a ésta increíble serie como lo son Kathleen (interpretada por Melanie Lynskey) quien es la líder de un grupo rebelde, Perry (Interpretado por Jeffrey Pierce, quien hace al personaje de Tommy en el videojuego) y dos apariciones que aunque no tuvieron mucho diálogo se consideran importantísimos para el próximo capítulo como lo son Henry (interpretado por Lamar Johnson) y Sam (interpretado por Keivonn Woodard).
The fourth episode entitled "Please, hold my hand" premiered on Sunday, February 5 at 10 pm (Venezuela) both on HBO channels and on its platform HBOMAX and has a duration of 45 minutes (being one of the shortest of the series). In this episode we focus on our protagonists who after having some problems to cross part of the country are involved in an ambush in Kansas City by what appears to be a group of survivors, they are forced to flee and hide in an abandoned building, meanwhile the leading group in the city becomes aware of the new visitors and form a plan to catch them, in turn try to find the whereabouts of Henry and Sam, who are considered a threat.
New characters join this incredible series such as Kathleen (played by Melanie Lynskey) who is the leader of a rebel group, Perry (played by Jeffrey Pierce, who plays the character of Tommy in the video game) and two appearances that although they did not have much dialogue are considered very important for the next chapter such as Henry (played by Lamar Johnson) and Sam (played by Keivonn Woodard).
Un episodio lleno de muchísimas acción y referencias, que van desde el gusto de Joel por el café y el cual ellie odia hasta el intento de charla de Joel para hacerle entender a ellie que a pesar de las circunstancias ella no debió haber pasado por todo aquello refiriéndose a cuando ella le disparo a un atacante. La forma de mostrar como el atacante de Joel se arrepentía y gritaba por su vida demostrando que solo era un muchacho temiendo por su vida y que estaba atrapado bajo las circunstancias donde solo debía sobrevivir a toda costa, fue increíble ver como lograron mostrar el otro lado de una persona la cual se arrepintió de sus actos.
Además de las increíbles escenas de el viaje y la ciudad, las cuales dieron una sensación de nostalgia y esperanza, nos dieron una probada a lo que vendría siendo un nuevo infectado, el cual en los juegos es uno de los más molestos y difíciles de matar, este solo ha salido en uno de los trailers por lo que aún no tenemos una vista completa de el.
An episode full of a lot of action and references, ranging from Joel's taste for coffee and which Ellie hates to Joel's attempt to talk to Ellie to make her understand that despite the circumstances she should not have gone through all that referring to when she shot an attacker. The way they showed how Joel's attacker repented and screamed for his life showing that he was just a boy fearing for his life and that he was trapped under the circumstances where he just had to survive at all costs, it was amazing to see how they managed to show the other side of a person who regretted his actions.
In addition to the incredible scenes of the journey and the city, which gave a sense of nostalgia and hope, we were given a taste of what would become a new infected, which in the games is one of the most annoying and difficult to kill, this has only been in one of the trailers so we still do not have a full view of it.
Algo fascinante dentro de éste capítulo es como se ve la cercanía de nuestros protagonistas, los cuales se ven forzados a trabajar juntos pero que a la vez se ven las primeras señales de afecto entre ambos. La adaptación consigue que se cree este vínculo sin parecer que Joel está buscando sustituir a su hija Sarah, poniendo una raya y comentando que ellie es solo una carga, un trabajo que debe realizar, una promesa a cumplir.
Lo que me gusta tanto de ésta serie a parte de lo fiel que es en adaptar cosas del juego es que te hace ver que no necesitas ver tantas muertes ni destrucción para que te afecte lo que están viviendo los personajes, creando puntos de vista opuestos dónde para ellie parece todo fascinante pero para Joel es solo algo que quedó después de tanta destrucción y miedo, un recuerdo amargo mientras que para ella es algo que mira desde la inocencia y el asombro, el guión de Craig Mazin recuerda que la pérdida de todo lo conocido es mucho más que los edificios bombardeados o los pueblos vacíos, también se trata de las carreteras agrietadas, llenas de maleza que se extiende a través del pavimento.
Something fascinating within this chapter is how we see the closeness of our protagonists, who are forced to work together but at the same time we see the first signs of affection between them. The adaptation manages to create this bond without seeming that Joel is looking to replace his daughter Sarah, putting a line and commenting that Ellie is just a burden, a job to do, a promise to fulfill.
What I like so much about this series apart from how faithful it is in adapting things from the game is that it makes you see that you don't need to see so much death or destruction to be affected by what the characters are going through, creating opposing points of view where for ellie it seems all fascinating but for Joel it's just something left over after so much destruction and fear, a bitter memory while for her it is something she looks at from innocence and awe, Craig Mazin's script reminds us that the loss of everything known is much more than the bombed buildings or the empty towns, it is also about the cracked roads, full of weeds spreading across the pavement.
Algo que hizo a los fans del videojuego pensar un poco fue el cambio de ciudades ya que en el juego en vez de llegar a Kansas City llegaban a Pittsburgh, el creador y director Mazin quería acortar camino debido a que el viaje a Pittsburgh tomaba mucho recorrido y tiempo dentro de la historia así que decidió acortar esto y también explico que la otra razón fue que querían acercarse a lo que venía, comenta que fue un cambio superficial porque lo importante es las decisiones y lo que sucede en esa ciudad. Muy pronto se vendrá un completo desarrollo del personaje de Joel al tratar de tomar una gran decisión la cuál solo causará daño emocional para nuestra protagonista.
Something that made the fans of the video game think a little was the change of cities since in the game instead of arriving to Kansas City they arrived to Pittsburgh, the creator and director Mazin wanted to shorten the way because the trip to Pittsburgh took a lot of travel and time within the story so he decided to shorten this and also explained that the other reason was that they wanted to get closer to what was coming, he says that it was a superficial change because the important thing is the decisions and what happens in that city. Very soon there will be a complete development of Joel's character as he tries to make a big decision which will only cause emotional damage to our protagonist.
Ya como últimas observaciones de este capítulo me destrozó el hecho de que ellie notará que Joel tiene un problema en su oído derecho y siento que este es un pequeño detalle que le da muchísima más humanidad y realismo a nuestros personajes, ya que después de tantos años peleando por sobrevivir han dejado una marca en la vida de ellos. Otro dato que resaltó es que Joel le pregunta a Ellie por qué haberle disparado a su atacante no fue su primera vez a lo que ella contesta que no quiere hablar de ello, haciendo alusión a lo que ocurrió en el DLC del juego The Last Of Us: Left Behind y del cual pronto veremos un poco de el en la serie también ya que es parte importante para saber de la historia de Ellie y de como fue mordida.
Un último dato es que una de las canciones del soundtrack original del juego "All gone" de Gustavo Santaolalla suena en la escena del campamento en el bosque, siento que es un detalle pequeño pero yo siendo fan y amante del soundtrack de los juegos me llenó de mucha emoción. Al igual que al final del capítulo en los créditos podemos escuchar un fragmento de la canción "True Faith" cantada por Lotte Kestner, canción que fue usada para el tráiler del segundo videojuego The Last Of Us: Part II.
Already as last observations of this chapter I was crushed by the fact that Ellie will notice that Joel has a problem in his right ear and I feel that this is a small detail that gives much more humanity and realism to our characters, since after so many years fighting for survival have left a mark on their lives. Another fact that stood out is that Joel asks Ellie why having shot her attacker was not her first time to which she answers that she does not want to talk about it, alluding to what happened in the DLC of the game The Last Of Us: Left Behind and of which we will soon see a bit of it in the series as well since it is an important part to know about Ellie's story and how she was bitten.
One last fact is that one of the songs from the original soundtrack of the game "All gone" by Gustavo Santaolalla sounds in the scene of the camp in the forest, I feel it is a small detail but me being a fan and lover of the soundtrack of the games filled me with much emotion. As well as at the end of the chapter in the credits we can hear a fragment of the song "True Faith" sung by Lotte Kestner, song that was used for the trailer of the second video game The Last Of Us: Part II.
