Hello dear internet people! I hope you are very well, I want to tell you that today I decided to take the afternoon off and finally I was able to watch the netflix series "Wednesday" (Merlina in Latin America) in a marathon since I had it pending for several days, so today I want to share my opinion with all of you. I hope you like it!

Espero estén muy bien, les cuento que hoy decidí tomarme la tarde libre y finalmente pude ver la serie de netflix "Wednesday" (Merlina en latinomérica) en maratón ya que la tenía pendiente desde hace varios días, así que hoy les quiero compartir mi opinión con todos ustedes. ¡Espero les agrade!
Brief Plot / Breve Trama
This time I won't go too far talking about the plot, since surely many people have not seen it yet. Basically it is about Wednesday Addams, whose parents Gomez (Homer) and Morticia take her to the Nevermore Academy where they studied many years ago, although at first she was reluctant to stay and tries to escape several times, then she decides to stay since she must learn to use his psychic abilities, solving the mystery of a mysterious number of murders and also a murder that hit his parents as it happened when they were studying there. Although the serie is very different from what I used to watch it from the Addams Family, it was pretty good.
Esta vez no me extenderé mucho hablando de la trama, ya que seguro mucha gente todavía no la han visto. Básicamente se trata de Wednesday Addams, cuyos padres Gomez (Homero) y Morticia la llevan a la academia Nevermore donde ellos estudiaron muchos años atrás, aunque al principio estaba reacia a quedarse e intenta escapar varias veces, luego decide quedarse ya que debe aprender a usar sus habilidades psiquicas, resolver el misterio de una misteriosa cantidad de asesinatos y también un asesinato que salpicó a sus padres ya que ocurrió cuando ellos estudiaban allí. Aunque la serie es muy diferente a lo que estoy acostumbrada a ver de la familia Addams, estuvo bastante bien.
My Opinion / Mi Opinión
This series caught my attention at first, since it is directed by my favorite director Tim Burton, and I also really liked seeing well-known actors like Jenna Ortega, who I met in a Disney Channel series called "Caught in the Middle" , also Catherine Zeta Jones who is one of my favorite actresses since my childhood, Gwendoline Christie who I met in the "Game of Thrones" series and my favorite Wednesday from my childhood Christina Ricci. The performances in general were good, I really liked the characterization of Jenna as Wednesday, since they kept her sour, sociopathic and sinister personality but, this time they decided to make her a little more emotional which is not bad at all. Although the participation of Merlina's parents and brother does not appear much to be said, I must say that I really liked the characterization of each one since, this time Gomez is more similar to her appearance in the comics, Catherine looks spectacular as Morticia and Pugsley also had a good characterization, although their participation was practically nil. In terms of makeup and costumes, I think they did a great job.
Esta serie me llamó la atención en un principio, ya que está dirigida por mi director favorito Tim Burton, y también me gustó mucho ver a actores conocidos como Jenna Ortega, la cual conocí en una serie de Disney Channel llamada "Atrapada en el Medio", también a Catherine Zeta Jones la cual es una de mis actrices favoritas desde mi infancia, Gwendoline Christie la cual conocí en la serie de "Juego de Tronos" y a mi Wednesday favorita de mi infancia Christina Ricci. Las actuaciones en general estuvieron bien, me gustó mucho la caracterización de Jenna como Wednesday, ya que conservaron su personalidad agría, sociópata y siniestra pero, en esta oportunidad decidieron hacerla un poco más emocional lo cual no está del todo mal. Aunque la participación de los padres y el hermano de Merlina no aparecen mucho que se diga, debo decir que me gustó mucho la carzcterización de cada uno ya que, esta vez Gomez es más parecido a su apariencia en los comics, Catherine se ve espectacular como Morticia , y Pericles también tuvo buena caraterización aunque su participación fué prácticamente nula. En terminos de maquilaje y vestuario, pienso que hicieron un gran trabajo.
Before watching this series, I was very used to a Wednesday like Christina Ricci's, and I liked that here they made her quite similar in terms of her character and personality, but this time they make some changes, for example, since this time Wednesday is good at everything like fencing and combat, and he also comes to feel affection for his friends, and even romantic attraction for someone which surprised me since if there is something I always remember about Wednesday it is his total dislike for a couple. Also in this version, we see her a little more sociable which, although it's really weird, it's not entirely annoying but what I really missed about Wednesday, are the experiments she did with her brother whom she tried to kill countless times. . Regarding the new characters, such as her friends, I would say that I only liked Enid, since I felt that the others were included only as filler and because they do not contribute anything important to the plot, I simply saw them as the typical companions that at the same time At first they annoy Wednesday but then as the story progresses they begin to sympathize. On the other hand, I liked that this time Wednesday had a friend who, although she was very contrary to her, was close. I also really liked seeing Thing which is one of my all time favorite characters.
Antes de ver esta serie, estaba muy acostumbrada a una Wednesday como la de Christina Ricci, y me gustó que aquí la hicieran bastante parecida respecto a su cáracter y personalidad pero esta vez hacen algunos cambios por ejemplo, ya que esta vez Wednesday es buena en todo como en esgrima y combate, y también llega a sentir cariño por sus amigos, e incluso atracción romántica por alguien lo cual me sorprendió ya que si hay algo que siempre recuerdo de Wednesday es su total desagrado por una pareja. También en esta versión, la vemos un poco más sociable lo cual, aunque es realmente raro, no es del todo molesto pero lo que realmente extrañé de Wednesday, son los experimentos que hacía con su hermano al cual trataba de matar en incontables ocasiones. Respecto a los nuevos personajes como por ejemplo sus amigos, diría que solamente me gustó Enid, ya que a los demás sentí que los metieron únicamente como relleno y ya porque no aportan nada importante a la trama, simplemente los ví como los típicos compañeros que al principio molestan a Wednesday pero luego al avanzar la historia empiezan a simpatizar, en cambio me gustó que esta vez Wednesday tuviese una amiga que aunque fuese muy contraria a ella, fuesen cercanas. También me gustó mucho ver a Thing el cual es uno de mis personajes favoritos de siempre.
The plot in general is good, but what I don't really like is that it's full of clichés typical of current youth series and I feel like I'm seeing more of the same, for example, this time we see Wednesday as the typical girl who doesn't fit in At her new school, the popular girl can't stand her and envy her because her ex-boyfriend notices her, and the typical roommate who becomes the unconditional friend which I've already seen in several series I've seen this year but with other characters, however, the series is still entertaining and pleasant to pass the time. What I did not like at all was the love triangle on Wednesday with Tyler and Xavier, which not only seemed unnecessary to me but also very strange from what I told you before. I feel there would be no need to pair Wednesday as as I said before, in my opinion she is not characterized by having interest in romantic relationships. There are lots of funny scenes like the part where Wednesday puts piranhas in the school pool, or the competition to win the Edgar Allan Poe cup (I loved the references to Edgar as he is one of my favorite writers). as well as suspense and horror. I think that although the CGI special effects were not entirely bad, they could have been better since in my opinion, for example, the murderous monster seemed very artificial to me and in my opinion the series lent itself to something better, however I loved the work that Tim Burton did with the photography, which is excellent since it has a monochrome color palette that works very well for this type of series, filters that work great, also the setting so characteristic of the Addams, and the scenarios that show what throughout the series are extraordinary. I feel that the story lent itself to get more out of it, however, it is still good and entertaining.
La trama en general es buena, pero lo que no me gusta mucho es que está llena de clichés típicos de las series juveniles actuales y siento que estoy viendo más de lo mismo por ejemplo, esta vez vemos a Wednesday como la típica chica que no encaja en su nueva escuela, la chica popular no la soporta y la envidia porque su ex novio se fija en ella, y la típica compañera de cuarto que se convierte en la amiga incondicional lo cual ya he visto en varias series que he visto este año pero con otros personajes, sin embargo la sere no deja de ser entretenida y agradable para pasar el tiempo. Lo que si no me gustó para nada fué el triángulo amoroso de Wednesday con Tyler y Xavier el cual no solamente me pareció innecesario sino también muy raro por lo que les dije anteriormente. Siento que no habría necesidad de emparejar a Wednesday ya que como dije antes, en mi opinión no se caracteriza por tener interés en relaciones románticas. Hay muchas escenas divertidas como por ejemplo, la parte en la que Wednesday pone pirañas en la piscina de la escuela, o la competencia para ganar la copa Edgar Allan Poe (me encantaron las referencias a Edgar, ya que es uno de mis escritores preferidos), así como también de suspenso y terror. Pienso que aunque los efectos especiales CGI No estuvieron del todo mal, pudieron haber estado mejor ya que a mi parecer, por ejemplo el monstruo asesino me pareció muy artificial y en mi opinión la serie se prestaba para algo mejor, sin embargo me encantó el trabajo que hizo Tim Burton con la fotografía la cual es excelente ya que tiene una paleta de colores monocrómaticos que funcionan muy bien para este tipo de series, filtros que funcionan genial, también la ambientación tan característica de los Addams, y los escenarios que muestran a lo largo de la serie son extraordinarios. Siento que la historia se prestaba para sacarle más provecho sin embargo no deja de ser buena y entretenida.
The soundtrack composed by Danny Elfman and Chris Bacon in general is what I like the most about the series, especially the ones played on cello, which is one of my string instruments. Listening to songs like Paint It Black by The Rolling Stones on cello is really spectacular, since this song is one of my favorites. Also listening to songs like La Llorona by Chavela Vargas and Physical by Dua Lipa was excellent and they match perfectly with the film. In general terms, I think the series is well done but if you watch it thinking about what the movies will be like, you will surely be disappointed since the changes were tremendous, however, it is still a great movie and it is really worth watching. Another thing that I liked about the film is that they brought Christina Ricci back, since she is my favorite Wednesday Addams, her participation really made me very nostalgic. In conclusion, although it is full of details like the ones I explained to you, it is a pretty good series loaded with humor, suspense, and some terror, with characters that, although they are filler more than anything, and you don't know if they are really good or bad because of the twists that the story takes as the chapters progress, I would like to recommend this series to all those who have not seen it yet, I assure you that it is worth watching.
El soundtrack compuesto por Danny Elfman y Chris Bacon en general es lo que más me gusta de la serie, en especial las interpretadas en cello el cual es uno de mis instrumentos de cuerda. Escuchar canciones cómo Paint It Black de The Rolling Stones en cello es realmente espectacular, ya que esta canción es de mis favoritas. También escuchar canciones como La Llorona de Chavela Vargas y Physical de Dua Lipa fué excelente y combinan a la perfección con la película. En términos generales, pienso que la serie está bien hecha pero si la ves pensando a que será cómo las películas seguramente saldrás decepcionado ya que los cambios fueron tramendos, sin embargo no deja de ser una gran película y de verdad que vale la pena verla. Otra cosa que me gustó de la película es que trajeran nuevamente a Christina Ricci, ya que como es mi Wednesday Addams favorita realmente me dió mucha nostalgia su participación. En conclusión, aunque está llena de detelles como los que les expuse, es una serie bastante buena cargada de humor, suspenso y algo de terror, con personajes que aunque son relleno más que todo y tu no sabes si son realmente buenos o malos por los giros que da la historia mientras avanzan los capitulos, me gustaría recomendar esta serie a todos los que aún no la han visto les aseguro que vale la pena verla.
