Hoy quisiera compartir con ustedes mi opinión sobre otra de mis películas animadas de Disney favoritas desde mi infancia: Mulan, la cual fue estrenada en 1998 y cuenta con las voces de Ming-Na Wen, Eddie Murphy, BD Wong y Miguel Ferrer en los papeles principales. Espero les guste.
Plot / Trama
Mulan is a young woman who decides to disguise herself as a man, run away from home and enlist in the army since by order of the emperor before the inevitable invasion of the Huns whose leader is Shan Yu, he orders that a man for each family be recruited in the army but, she does not allow her father to enlist since he is old and sick. When his family finds out, they pray to their ancestors to protect Mulan, but although their ancestors' intention was to send the powerful great stone dragon, the responsibility falls on a small dragon named Mushu because he decides to go protect Mulan. without the ancestors knowing, since he accidentally breaks the statue of the great dragon into pieces when he tried to wake it up with a gon. Mushu goes with Mulan accompanied by Cri-Kee, a nice lucky cricket who also decides to go.
Mulan es una joven la cual decide disfrazarse de hombre, huir de su casa y enlistarse en el ejercito ya que por mandato del emperador ante la inevitable invasión de los hunos cuyo lider es Shan Yu, ordena a que un varón por cada familia sea reclutado en el éjercito pero, ella no permite que su padre se enliste ya que está viejo y enfermo. Cuando su familia se da cuenta oran a sus ancestros para que protejan a Mulan, pero aunque la intemción de sus ancestros era el de enviar al poderoso gran dragón de piedra, la responsabilidad cae sobre un pequeño dragón llamado Mushu porque decide ir a proteger a Mulán sin que los ancestros lo sepan, ya que este por accidente rompe en pedazos la estatua del gran dragón cuando trataba de despertarlo con un gon. Mushu va con Mulan acompañado de Cri-Kee, un simpático grillito de la suerte el cual también decide ir.
When he arrives at the recruiting camp, he manages to fool the men by posing as a boy named "Ping" but at first he has trouble socializing, especially with Yao, Ling and Shen-Po who wanted to fight at first. Although at first they were quite useless, as the days go by, everyone in the camp improves and manages to complete their training led by General Li Shang, so Mushu and Cri-Kee decide to disguise themselves and deceive the captain by delivering a false letter asking Shang to direct your troops to join the rest of the army so they leave the next morning but, upon arrival they discover that the rest of the army has been massacred as well as the capital Li, Shang's father. Committed to his duty, Shang leads his troops to the imperial city but on the way they meet the Huns so they decide to fight.
Cuando llega al campamento de reclutamiento logra engañar a los hombres haciéndose pasar por un muchacho llamado "Ping" pero al principio tiene problemas para socializar, en especial con Yao, Ling y Shen-Po los cuales quisieron pelear al principio. Siguiendo los consejos de Mushu, Mulán actúa como un hombre para evitar ser descubierta. Aunque al principio eran bastante inútiles conforme pasan los días todos en el campamento mejoran y logran completar su entrenamiento liderados por el general Li Shang, así que Mushu y Cri-Kee deciden disfrazarse y engañar al capitán entregando una carta falsa donde se pide a Shang que dirija sus tropas para integrarse al resto del ejercito por lo que salen la mañana siguiente pero, al llegar descubren que el resto del ejercito ha sido masacrado al igual que el capital Li, padre de Shang. Comprometido con su deber, Shang dirige sus tropas hacía la ciudad imperial pero en el camino se consiguen a los hunos por lo que deciden pelear.
Mulan (Ping) manages to beat the Huns by using a cannon to cause an avalanche in which a large number of Huns perished. Shang, grateful to Ping for saving his life during the battle and for defeating the Huns, tells him that he owes him his life and that he has his trust, but then they realize that Ping was injured during the battle and he faints, so they call a doctor to help him, but later it's discovered. Shang is forced to kill her for her betrayal, but he decides to spare her life and continue with her army, leaving Mulan expelled from the troop. The rest of the recruits continue on their way without knowing that they are closely followed by the surviving Huns of the avalanche, when Mulan realizes that some Huns survived, she decides to continue to the Imperial City to warn Shang and the army.
Mulán (Ping) logra ganarle a los hunos usando un cañón para provocar una avalancha en la cual perecieron una gran cantidad de hunos. Shang, agradecido con Ping por haberle salvado la vida durante la batalla y por haber derrotado a los hunos, le dice que le debe la vida y que tiene su confianza pero, luego se dan cuenta de que Ping resultó herido durante la batalla y se desmaya, por lo que llaman a un doctor para auxiliarlo, pero después resulta descubierta. Shang es obligado a matarla por la traición pero, decide perdonarle la vida y continuar con el ejercito dejando a Mulán expulsada de la tropa. El resto de los reclutas continúan su camino sin saber que son seguidos de cerca por los hunos supervivientes de la avalancha, cuando Mulán se da cuenta de que algunos hunos sobrevivieron decide continuar a la Ciudad Imperial para advertirle a Shang y al ejercito.
Once in the Imperial City, Mulan tries to warn the troops and Shang, but he does not believe his word and they continue their celebration, but then the Huns who were hiding appear, so without paying attention to Shang, he decides to fight face to face. again with the Huns to defend the Emperor and the city, and in the process they are joined by Yao, Ling and Shen-Po who, disguised as women, fool 2 Hun guards and manage to infiltrate the palace to rescue the Emperor and then, Shang also joins Mulan. After an intense battle, Mulan manages to defeat Shan Yu with the help of Mushu. The victory of Mulan and the others is celebrated in the Imperial City and the Emperor recognizes the great contribution of Mulan and also that he has saved them all, for which he, the army and the entire City bow. The Emperor presents Mulan with gifts to let the world know what she has done for him and for China. Back home, her father is happy to see her and gives her a big hug, her mother and her grandmother are also happy to see her but the grandmother says that she should have brought home a man instead of a sword. Immediately afterwards, Shang arrives asking for Mulan to give him her helmet, and she invites him to dinner. Mushu is also honored by the ancestors for having contributed to Mulan's victory.
Una vez en la Ciudad Imperial, Mulán intenta advertirle a la tropa y a Shang pero, el no cree en su palabra y continúan su celebración, pero luego los hunos que estaban escodidos aparecen por lo que sin hacer caso a Shang, decide luchar cara a cara de nuevo con los hunos para defender al Emperador y a la ciudad, y en el proceso se les une Yao, Ling y Shen-Po los cuales disfrazadas de mujeres engañan a 2 hunos guardias y logran infiltrarse en el palacio para rescatar al Emperador y luego, Shang también se une a Mulán. Luego de una intensa batalla, Mulán logra derrotar a Shan Yu con ayuda de Mushu. La victoria de Mulán y los demás es celebrada en la Ciudad Imperial y el Emperador reconoce la gran contribución de Mulán y también que los ha salvado a todos, por lo que él, el ejercito y la Ciudad entera la reverencia. El Emperador le entrega a Mulán obsequios para que el mundo sepa lo que ha hecho por él y por China. De vuelta a casa, su padre se alegra al verla y le da un gran abrazo, su madre y su abuela también están felices de verla pero la abuela dice que debió traer a casa un hombre en lugar de una espada. Acto seguido, Shang llega preguntando por Mulán para entregarle su casco, y ella lo invita a cenar. Mushu también es honrado por los ancestros por haber contribuido a la victoria de Mulán.
My Opinion / Mi Opinión
I saw this movie for the first time when I was about 8 or 9 years old and I remember that I was hooked, my dad gave it to me on VHS and I remember that it was one of the ones I watched the most. I really liked the story which is based on a poem called "The Ballad of Hua Mulan" written in the 6th century. It is unknown if Mulan really existed in real life since it is not known if the poem has a historical basis or not, however the legend of this brave warrior has become very popular and has inspired not only this but also many other works of cinema. . I love the development of the characters, my favorite character is Mushu, who is quite funny and Eddie Murphy did a great job playing him. Other characters like the trio of warriors Yao, Ling and Shen-Po are also very funny so one manages to empathize with them from the first moment, and in general, the work done with the characters is really very good.
Esta película la ví por primera vez cuando tenía como 8 o 9 años y recuerdo que quedé enganchada, mi papá me la regaló en VHS y recuerdo que era de las que más veía. Me gustó mucho la historia la cual está basada en un poema llamado "La Balada de Hua Mulan" escrito en el siglo VI. Se desconoce si realmente Mulán existió en la vida real ya que no se sabe si el poema tiene o no base historica, sin embargo la leyenda de esta valiente guerrara se ha vuelto muy popular y ha inspirado no solo esta sino también muchas otras obras del cine. El desarrollo de los personajes me encanta, mi personaje favorito es Mushu, el cual es bastante gracioso y Eddie Murphy hizo un gran trabajo interpretandolo. Otros personajes como el trío de guerreros Yao, Ling y Shen-Po también son muy graciosos por lo que uno logra empatizar desde el primer momento con ellos, y en general, el trabajo realizado con los personajes es realmente muy bueno.
I also loved the character of Mulan since she is one of the few female protagonists in Disney movies who does not need a man to shine and who is independent, who shows her true value to the world no matter what others think of her and this is something important. I really loved the animation of this movie, in my opinion Disney never disappoints with such beautiful animation, and the color palette which works perfectly with the movie. My favorite part of the animation is the beautiful places and landscapes seen during the movie. Thanks to movies like this, I like this type of animation much more than computer animation.
El personaje de Mulán también me encantó ya que es una de las pocas protagonistas femeninas de las películas Disney que no necesitan de un hombre para brillar y que es independiente, que demuestra su verdadero valor al mundo no importa lo que los demás piensen de ella y esto es algo importante. La animación de esta película realmente me encantó, en mi opinión Disney nunca decepciona respecto a la animación tan hermosa, y la paleta de colores la cual funciona a la perfección con la película. Mi parte favorita de la animación, son los hermosos lugares y paisajes que se ven durante la película. Gracias a películas como esta, es que me gusta mucho más este tipo de animación que la que es por computadora.
The soundtrack is what I like the most about the movie, I really like the songs in English and Spanish, especially the version of "Reflection" sung by Christina Aguilera, as well as the voice of Lea Salonga as the singing voice of Mulan. I confess that I did not like at all that they have removed the songs from the remake of this film released in 2020 as well as the exclusion of characters like Mushu and Cri-kee who gave the film a great touch of comedy and are something like "the soul of the party". I admit that in part they damaged my childhood for having made it quite different, however, this does not mean that I do not like this live action, but I do admit that I like this animated version much more and I would like to recommend it to all those who have not seen it yet. I assure you that you will love her as much as I do.
El soundtrack es lo que más me gusta de la película, me gustan mucho las canciones en inglés y español en especial la versión de "Reflection" cantada por Christina Aguilera, así como la voz de Lea Salonga como la voz cantarina de Mulán. Confieso que no me gustó para nada que hayan quitado las canciones del remake de esta película estrenado en el 2020 así como la exclusión de personajes como Mushu y Cri-kee los cuales le daban un gran toque de comedia a la película y son algo así como "el alma de la fiesta". Reconozco que en parte dañaron mi infancia por haberla hecho bastante diferente sin embargo, esto no quiere decir que no me guste igual este live action pero reconozco que me gusta mucho más esta versión animada y me gustaría recomendársela a todos los que todavía no la han visto, les aseguro que la van a amar tanto como yo.
