No es casualidad que las tres últimas series que he visto han sido de Apple: Silo, The Crowded Room y ahora Hijack y es que para nadie es un secreto de la inmensa calidad que hay detrás de las producciones de este gigante del streaming. Yo se que parezco un disco rayado con este tema pero cuando les digo que busquen migrar de Netflix o Disney a Apple TV y a la misma Prime Video no se los digo en vano, la diferencia, por lo menos para mi, es notable y suficiente como para saber cual servicio es mejor que el otro. Habiendo dicho esto el turno del día de hoy es para lo nuevo de Idris Elba, una historia que es una sola tensión y angustia desde el primer minuto hasta literalmente el último instante del capitulo final.

I know I sound like a broken record with this topic but when I tell you to migrate from Netflix or Disney to Apple TV and Prime Video I am not saying it in vain, the difference, at least for me, is remarkable and enough to know which service is better than the other. Having said that, today's turn is for Idris Elba's new movie, a story that is a single tension and anguish from the first minute to literally the last moment of the final chapter.
Hijack es una trama que como su nombre lo dice gira en torno al secuestro de un avión comercial, creo que de las situaciones más aterradoras que se pueden vivir cuando se está volando es precisamente que una banda de secuestradores tomen el control de la aeronave. Si les digo que se sufre y se pasa un poco mal cuando se está viendo esto porque el grado de impotencia y desesperación que experimentan las personas a bordo es notable al punto que es muy fácil que esas sensaciones traspasen la pantalla. Afortunadamente ese vuelo tenía a un Idris Elba para lidiar, de una forma diferente, tanto con la gente como con los mismos secuestradores. Pero bueno, vayamos y hablemos un poco más a fondo de esta gran serie.
Hijack is a plot that as its name says revolves around the hijacking of a commercial airliner, I think that one of the most terrifying situations you can experience when you are flying is precisely that a gang of hijackers take control of the aircraft. I can tell you that you suffer and feel a bit bad when you are watching this because the degree of helplessness and desperation experienced by the people on board is remarkable to the point that it is very easy for those feelings to go beyond the screen. Fortunately that flight had an Idris Elba to deal, in a different way, with both the people and the hijackers themselves. But well, let's go and talk a little more in depth about this great series.
Comenzamos con Sam Nelson (Idris Elba), uno de los pasajeros de este avión que va desde Dubái hasta Londres. Sam es un negociador nato, a eso es a lo que se dedica pero dentro del mundo financiero, aconseja a grandes empresas sobre que hacer y la manera en como deben actuar. Esto lo digo porque estas habilidades serán claves para el desarrollo de todo lo que ocurrirá dentro de ese avión. Todo parecía ir en calma y sin novedades hasta que un hecho en concreto desencadena el caos antes de lo previsto y da inicio a la peor pesadilla de las más de 200 personas a bordo por las próximas 6/8 horas de vuelo. En un abrir y cerrar de ojos dicho avión ya estaba secuestrado y con eso el miedo y el terror inundaría los pasillos y asientos.
We start with Sam Nelson (Idris Elba), one of the passengers on this plane going from Dubai to London. Sam is a born negotiator, that's what he does but within the financial world, he advises large companies on what to do and how they should act. I say this because these skills will be key to the development of everything that will happen inside that plane. Everything seemed to be calm and uneventful until one particular event triggers chaos ahead of schedule and starts the worst nightmare of the more than 200 people on board for the next 6/8 hours of flight. In the blink of an eye the plane was already hijacked and with that, fear and terror would flood the aisles and seats.
Pero el único que parecía no estar en este estado de angustia colectiva era Sam y es que en vez de caer bajo esa histeria lo que estaba haciendo era calcular la forma en como podía acercarse y dialogar con esta banda de secuestradores. Una vez hecho el primer movimiento se desencadenarían una serie de sucesos que marcarían el rumbo de todas las personas a bordo mientras que la tensión de la que les hablé en un principio cada vez era mayor e iba en aumento. En paralelo, desde tierra, comienzan a atar cabos gracias a unas pistas que surgen desde el aire y se comienza una investigación. La trama es como una montaña rusa de emociones o sentimientos, puedes sentir rabia, indignación, angustia, euforia, de nuevo la impotencia, y es que de verdad la historia no da tregua, no hay espacio para la relajación.

Esta es una serie que no necesitó de grandes cosas ni locaciones para lograr transmitir que lo que pretendían, que el espectador se enganchara de tal forma que por instantes se sintiera un pasajero más de aquel avión. La trama se lleva a cabo en un avión y un par de oficinas, uno que otro exterior pero nada grande, es cero ostentosa en ese sentido, creo que tampoco hacia falta. Las escenas dentro del avión pueden llegar a ser medio claustrofóbicas, ahora entiendo un poco el miedo de algunas personas a volar, no lo digo en un mal sentido sino en uno que más bien ayuda a que todo sea más angustiante e intenso; como es posible que en un espacio tan reducido 5 personas puedan tener el control sobre 200? - es acá en donde entra la impotencia.
This is a series that did not need big things or locations to convey what they intended, that the viewer was hooked in such a way that for moments he/she felt like a passenger on that plane. The plot takes place in an airplane and a couple of offices, one or two outside, but nothing big, it is not ostentatious in that sense, I think it was not necessary either. The scenes inside the plane can be a bit claustrophobic, now I understand a little the fear of some people to fly, I don't mean it in a bad way but in a way that helps to make everything more distressing and intense; how is it possible that in such a small space 5 people can have control over 200? - This is where the impotence comes in.
Hay dos tramas que se llevan a cabo, en los cielos y la tierra, esto suena místico pero es tal cual así. Las dos van a velocidades alarmantes porque todo se mueve a contrarreloj, hay un avión secuestrado del que no se sabe cual es su verdadera intención. Esto lleva a que veamos como es el manejo de estas crisis a nivel burocrático y gubernamental, que intereses hay detrás, que decisiones se toman, como se toman; la desesperación está en el avión pero lo que se vive en tierra es demás estresante también. De verdad que es una serie muy completa, hay manejo de rehenes, asesinatos, detectives haciendo búsquedas, realmente es muy complicado aburrirse.
There are two plots that take place, in the skies and on earth, this sounds mystical but it is just like that. Otra de las cosas super interesantes es que cada cabeza es un mundo. Ver como es cada quien, como cada persona reacciona y como se comporta ante una situación como esta es de lo más curioso que vemos. Que harías tu en su lugar? - creo que es imposible responder porque podemos decir algo desde la comodidad de nuestras casas pero cuando realmente estamos dentro de la tormenta la mente es otra, se transforma por completo, lo que la hace impredecible. El gancho de esta serie es sin dudas eso, la expectativa de esperar que tanto pueden hacer las personas para preservar sus vidas mientras batallan con la angustia de tomar una u otra decisión y es que pensar claramente cuando alguien está apuntando un arma imagino es difícil por no decir imposible. Pues bueno la historia esta, tomar decisiones bajo un ambiente hostil y de amenaza pura.

Idris Elba es calidad garantizada, la verdad es uno de los actores que más me convencen con sus trabajos, Luther y Suicide Squad es de lo que más me ha gustado de él. En esta oportunidad es un papel un tanto diferente, es un tipo que siempre sabe lo que está haciendo, anticipa los pasos, está siempre adelantado a las posibles reacciones, muy calculador. La columna vertebral de esta historia. Es un elenco en su mayoría británico que en líneas generales lo hacen muy bien. Los secuestradores son detestables, sinceramente te dan ganas de caerles a batazos a los cinco, se ven inexpertos pero con el objetivo entre ceja y ceja. Esto último hace que vivas la serie más intensamente y con más profundidad lo que al final es bueno.
Idris Elba is guaranteed quality, the truth is one of the actors who most convince me with his work, Luther and Suicide Squad is what I liked most of him. This time it is a somewhat different role, he is a guy who always knows what he is doing, he anticipates the steps, he is always ahead of possible reactions, very calculating. The backbone of this story. It's a mostly British cast who generally do very well. The kidnappers are obnoxious, honestly they make you want to beat the crap out of all five of them, they look inexperienced but with the target between the eyebrows. The latter makes you live the series more intensely and with more depth, which in the end is a good thing.
En lo personal me gustó bastante, como dije, otro buen producto de Apple TV, un 8/10 porque cumple con todo lo que uno espera de una historia que involucre un secuestro. Buenas actuaciones, algunos giros inesperados en la trama que hace que todo sea un poco más interesante y una angustia de principio a fin que no cesa. Recomendada a todos sin duda alguna. Personally I liked it quite a bit, as I said, another good Apple TV product, an 8/10 because it fulfills everything you expect from a story involving a kidnapping. Good performances, some unexpected twists in the plot that makes everything a little more interesting and an angst from beginning to end that never lets up. Recommended to all without a doubt. Autopublicidad 😁 vendo pantallas y también digo que Prime Video es muy buena. Ahora, siguiendo sobre esta serie me interesa que es corta, tengo rato que no veo algo tan largo, ya no me da el tiempo y suena muy bien la historia de la trama en el avión.

Weepa. Los dos primeros episodios me gustaron , esa sensación de que se desarrolla en tiempo real, al estilo de la excelente serie 24 fue el gancho. Pero ya en el tercer episodio todo se fue desinflando para mi. Por cierto, esa enfrentamiento final en el ultimo episodio, estuvo muy malo. Todo lo que se monto con el secuestro para mi fue perdiendo fuerza con situaciones que no le encontré sentido, especialmente como el líder de los secuestradores en el avión, se le mostro como alguien clamado, calculador, o se aun villano cojonudo, pero después era todo un bobolongo que dudaba cada vez que Idris Elba le decía algo. No soportaba eso. Te dije que cada vez estoy mas viejo y por eso mas quisquilloso jajajaja de todas formas la recomiendo para pasar el rato. Pudo ser algo mejor.
