Although I have read the books at least seven times and I have seen the films seven times more, it will never be enough, I love the Harry Potter universe madly, these days I have just re-watched The Goblet of Fire, because it is the film that is most broadcasted on television at this time of year, perhaps because of the Christmas ball that appears on screen only a few minutes in the whole film. I like this film, although I don't consider it the best adaptation of the books.

A pesar de que he leído los libros al menos unas siete veces y he visto las películas unas siete veces más, nunca será suficiente, amo con locura el universo de Harry Potter, en estos días precisamente volví a ver El Cáliz de Fuego, debido a que es la película que más transmiten en televisión en estas fechas, quizá por aquello del baile de navidad que aparece en pantalla solo unos minutos en toda la película. Me gusta esta película, aunque no la considero la mejor adaptación con respecto a los libros.

Harry Potter begins his fourth year at Hogwarts, however this time he will have to face the "Tri-wizard Tournament" which brings together the three best schools of magic and wizardry in Europe: Beauxbatons, Durmstrang and of course Hogwarts, for some reason, Harry's name appears among those selected, and because of this he will have to compete although he is not prepared, however, while Harry is facing one by one the of task the tournament, he is also realizing that Voldemort (his archenemy) is slowly gaining strength and intends to return, so it is one more task he will have to face to try to survive.

There were many things that I loved in this film such as the photography, I think that Mike Newell, the director, did a good job with the light and shadows, images that brim with clarity and colour in the happy moments of the protagonist and that are dark when it is required to generate an oppressive or anguished feeling, the scenery was unbeatable, as well as the special effects and the performances, all did their job very efficiently in this film.

Hubo muchísimas cosas que me encantaron en esta película como por ejemplo la fotografía, creo que Mike Newell, el director, hizo un buen manejo de las luces y sombras, imágenes que rebosan de claridad y colore en los momentos felices del protagonista y que se muestran oscuras cuando se requiere generar una sensación opresiva o de angustia, la escenografía estuvo insuperable, al igual que los efectos especiales y las actuaciones, todos hicieron su trabajo de forma muy eficiente en esta película.

Why do I think it wasn't the best adaptation? Well, because although overall the production did a great job, the script left a lot to be desired, there were a lot of things they left out that would have been great to see on the big screen, for example the S.P.E.W. (Society for the Promotion of Elfish Welfare). We didn't even see the house elves or the Hogwarts kitchens in this movie, something that fans would have loved to see, we didn't even see Dobby helping Harry with the gillyweed, in order to give more relevance to the character, his place was taken by Neville in the movie. The fact that the film version of Hermione doesn't even mention the P.E.D.D.O. doesn't allow us to get to know the revolutionary or rebellious side of the character we normally see so obedient.

But if there's one thing I have to mention is that I loved how they adapted the first and second events of the tournament, in the first one, they even added more details that don't appear in the book but that made Harry's participation more exciting, the fact that he flew out of the area where he was supposed to be, or that Hermione went to support Harry to the champions' tent where Rita Skeeter surprises them. There is one scene that I particularly like because both the camera filter, and Dumbledore's voice in the background narrating what is happening outside the tent, as well as the expression on Daniel Radcliffe's face, makes us feel immersed in the plot, as it perfectly conveys the anguish that Harry must be feeling at that moment. On the other hand, the design of the dragon is superb, absolutely great.

I also loved the second task, the setting under the black lake was simply amazing, also the design of the mermaids, although I would have liked to see the little houses where the people of the water lived, which allows us to understand that they had a civilisation down there, that they were not wild creatures. The scene where Harry rescues his friends is great because they allow us to see the incantations that Cedric Diggory and Krum use to stay underwater, the wax figures they used to replace the actors look real and therefore generates a lot of anguish knowing that the champions only have an hour to rescue them all. The design of the grindylows and the scene where they attack Harry I also loved, I have no complaints about this, it was really great.

La segunda prueba también me encantó, la ambientación debajo del lago negro fue sencillamente alucinante también el diseño de las sirenas, aunque sí que me hubiese gustado ver las casitas donde vivía la gente del agua, lo cual nos permite entender que tenían una civilización allí abajo, que no eran criaturas salvajes. La escena donde Harry rescata a sus amigos es genial porque nos permiten ver los encantamientos que usan Cedric Diggory y Krum para permanecer bajo el agua, las figuras de cera que usaron para sustituir a los actores, se ven reales y por lo tanto genera mucha angustia al saber que los campeones solo cuentan con una hora para rescatarlos a todos. El diseño de los grindylows y la escena donde atacan a Harry también me encantó, no tengo ninguna queja sobre esto, de verdad fue genial.

I think there were characters that should not have been omitted in this film, such as Bertha Jorkins, as she was the key for Voldemort and Pettigrew to get the necessary information that allowed them to know that there would be a special event at Hogwarts, and based on that they built their plan. On the other hand, at the end of the film it is not even clear what Harry was going to do with the money obtained after winning the tournament, in fact I don't even think it is said that the winner would get a monetary prize, and it is important to know this because it allows us to understand how the twins (coming from a family as poor as the Weasleys) were able to open a joke shop in the sixth film.

Creo que hubo personajes que no debieron omitir en esta película, como Bertha Jorkins, ya que fue ella la clave para que Voldemort y Pettigrew obtuvieran la información necesaria que les permitió saber que en Hogwarts habría un evento especial, y en base a eso construyeron su plan. Por otra parte, al final de la película ni siquiera queda despejada la duda de lo que Harry iba a hacer con el dinero obtenido tras ganar el torneo, de hecho creo que ni siquiera se dice algo respecto a que el ganador obtendría un premio monetario, y sí que es importante saberlo porque esto nos permite entender como fue que los gemelos (proviniendo de una familia tan pobre como los Weasley) pudieron abrir una tienda de artículos de broma en la sexta película.

One of the scenes I enjoyed the most was Voldemort's return, although the design of Voldemort himself is not what I expected after reading the book, I must admit that he looks great and Ralph Fines' performance was one of the best in the whole movie, the way he holds his wand, the tone of his voice, his cold look, wow! He is the perfect Voldemort, but the scene where we see him transfigure after being thrown over the cauldron is very impressive, and the same goes for the scene where "Alastor Moody" finally takes the form of Barthy Cronch.

All the performances were great in this film, but if I have to highlight one of them is Brendan Gleeson's, as he was playing two characters in one, Barthy Crounch Jr and Alastor Moody, he could look suspicious but at the same time you dismissed that he had something to do with what was happening, until you see him lose control in the last scene where he showed himself as he was, the fury of his look generated panic, the silky but threatening tone of his voice denoted how unhinged he was.

Todas las actuaciones estuvieron geniales en esta película, pero si debo resaltar alguna es la de Brendan Gleeson, ya que estaba interpretando dos personajes en unos solo, Barthy Crounch Jr y Alastor Moody, podía parecer sospechoso pero al mismo tiempo descartabas que tuviese algo que ver con lo que estaba pasando, hasta que lo ves perder el control en la última escena donde se mostró tal cual era, la furia de su mirada generaba pánico, el tono sedoso pero amenazante de su voz denotaba lo desquiciado que estaba.

I really love this movie even though it's not my favourite, which is "The Prisoner of Askaban" I think they could have done a better job in terms of adapting the script, but still, overall it's great and for that reason I never get tired of watching it. Realmente me encanta esta película aunque no es mi favorita, que es "El prisionero de Askaban" creo que podrían haber hecho un mejor trabajo en cuanto a la adaptación del guión, pero aun así, en general es genial y por eso nunca me canso de verla.
