Hello friends, today I want to share with you the review of a movie that caught my attention since I saw the trailer, with a good plot twist that kept me in tension for a while, and that if you are suspense movie lovers you will enjoy a lot.
Hola amigos, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes la review de una película que llamó muchísimo mi atención desde que vi el trailer, con un buen giro de trama que me mantuvo en tensión por un buen rato, y que si son amantes del cine de suspenso disfrutarán muchísimo.
Overview/Resumen
It all starts with a kind of story time in which Loreta tells us part of her life in front of the camera, she says that at 19 she fell in love with her teacher and left her parents' house, but she keeps something to herself that she says she wouldn't like to tell her children, Tayler and Becca, the latter is a big movie buff, Therefore we see her in many scenes in the foreground, because she is filming a documentary of what is supposed to be a great experience for her, because both she and her brother will spend time with their grandparents, whom they have never seen before, while Loreta will go on a cruise with her new partner. Through Becca (Loreta's daughter) we learn that both she and her brother Tyler have had some emotional shortcomings since their father abandoned them, and that since then Tyler has developed a strong phobia of germs. However, when they arrive at their destination and meet their grandparents Frederick and Maya, everything seems to go smoothly.
Todo comienza con una especie de Story time en el cual Loreta nos cuenta parte de su vida frente a la cámara, ella dice que a los 19 años se enamoró de su profesor y se fue de casa de sus padres, pero se reserva algo que dice que no le gustaría contarle a sus hijos, Tayler y Becca, esta última es una gran aficionada del cine, por lo tanto la vemos en muchas escenas salir en primer plano, debido a que está grabando un documental de lo que supone será una gran experiencia para ella, debido a que tanto ella como su hermano pasarán un tiempo con sus abuelos, a los que jamás han visto antes, mientras tanto Loreta iniciará un viaje en crucero con su nueva pareja. A través de Becca (la hija de Loreta) conocemos que tanto ella como su hermano Tyler han tenido algunas carencias afectivas desde que su padre los abandonó, y que desde entonces Tyler desarrolló una gran fobia a los gérmenes. Sin embargo cuando llegan a su destino y conocen a sus abuelos Frederick y maya todo parece ir de maravilla.
The grandparents seem like nice people, they tell the children that they work in the countryside and occasionally volunteer at a psychiatric centre. At first they all get along very well and live together in harmony, but later both children begin to notice certain strange situations and changes in their grandparents' behaviour that will turn what Becca thought would be a wonderful experience into a terrifying one.
Los abuelos parecen gente amable, le cuentan a los niños que trabajan en el campo y de vez en cuando prestan ayuda como voluntarios en un centro psiquiátrico, al principio todos se llevan muy bien y conviven en armonía, pero posteriormente ambos niños comienzan a notar ciertas situaciones extrañas y cambios en la conducta de sus abuelos que harán que esa experiencia que Becca pensaba que sería maravillosa, se convierta en una aterradora.

My Opinion/Mi Opinión
There are so many things to highlight here that I don't even know where to begin, but I think I'll start with the performances, Wow! There is no doubt that in this film participated great actors, able to convey without any difficulty the emotions of their characters, especially it strikes me how Maya (the grandmother) can go from being so sweet and tender, always with a smile and a kind tone of voice, to a strange woman, with an erratic behaviour that borders on terrifying, there are moments of such tension that made my heart beat very fast, like the scene where the children play hide and seek under the house and suddenly they find Maya who acts like a wild animal that intends to hunt them, my God! I felt like I was going to have a heart attack at that moment 😨 😱 but that's how a good thriller and horror movie has to be.
Hay tantas cosas que resaltar aquí que no sé ni por donde empezar, pero creo que iniciaré por las actuaciones, Wow! No cabe duda que en este film participaron actores grandiosos, capaces de transmitir sin dificultad alguna las emociones de sus personajes, sobre todo me llama la atención como Maya (la abuela) puede pasar de ser tan dulce y tierna, siempre con una sonrisa y un tono de voz amable, a una mujer extraña, con un comportamiento errático que raya en lo aterrador, hay momentos de tanta tensión que hacía latir el corazón muy deprisa, como la escena donde los niños juegan al escondite debajo de la casa y de pronto se encuentran con Maya que actúa como un animal salvaje que pretende cazarlos, ¡Dios mío! Sentí que me iba a dar un infarto en ese momento 😨 😱 pero es así como tiene que ser una buena película de suspenso y de terror.
The first-person shots that we see in the previous scene give it an extra value, as it gives us the sensation of living the experience together with the characters, making the scene more intense and real.
Los planos en primera persona que vemos en la escena anterior le dan un valor extra, ya que nos provoca la sensación de estar viviendo la experiencia junto a los personajes, vuelve la escena más intensa y real.
The story is tremendously dynamic, although at the beginning I found it a bit weak, but thank goodness my sister and I decided to give it a chance and continued watching it because as you discover new things and strange situations with the main characters, you feel like you can't stop watching it, and to top it off, almost all the strange events happen at night 😨.
La historia es tremendamente dinámica, aunque al inicio la percibí un tanto floja, sin embargo menos mal que mi hermana y yo decidimos darle una oportunidad y continuamos viéndola porque a medida que vas descubriendo cosas nuevas y situaciones raras junto a los personajes principales, sientes que ya no puedes parar de verla, para colmo casi todos los eventos extraños suceden por las noches 😨
But best of all is that plot twist at the end, something we are used to from M. Night Shyamalan, who directed films like Sixth Sense and the more recent Knock the Cabin from 2023. Night Shyamalan, who was the same guy who directed films like Sixth Sense and the most recent "Knock the Cabin" from 2023, he always makes the stories go in one direction and at the end something happens that makes your head explode, you end up shocked and incredibly surprised, because, even when you know you are watching a Shyamalan film and that there will be a plot twist, you don't know what it will be like, you have no idea what it will be that will leave you with an open wedding.
Pero lo mejor de todo es ese giro de trama del final, algo a los que nos tiene acostumbrados M. Night Shyamalan, que fue el mismo que dirigió películas como Sexto Sentido y la más reciente "Knock the Cabin" del 2023, él siempre hace que las historias se orienten en un sentido y al final sucede algo que hace que te explote la cabeza, terminas conmocionado e increíblemente sorprendido, porque, aún y cuando sabes que estás viendo una película de Shyamalan y que habrá un giro de trata, no sabes como será, no tienes idea de que será eso te dejará con la boda abierta.
