I'm pretty sure a lot of you would have watched, or better still, heard of this movie. A very interesting, dark, weird, and lovely movie, I just say. I didn't really know what to expect in it when I began watching it, but in the long run, it had me glued till the very end. After watching an episode, I would just want to know what's going to happen next, and like that, I kept watching until I finished it. You know what I enjoyed most about it, it's how that none of those episodes ended in a way that you won't want to watch the next, each episodes ended in a way that you would immediately want to see what's going to happen next, promising yourself to just see the next five minutes of the next episode until you find yourself looking it up till the end.
Not to beat around the bush, the movie is titled "Wednesday." That title itself is somehow, but then Wednesday follows the story of a girl named Wednesday Addams; she happens to be a very intelligent, strange, and mysterious kind of girl, more like her mom. And as a teenager she was expelled from her school due to certain reasons, especially about how weird an she is, and that was how she found herself in Nevermore Academy, it is a school for outcasts and kids with supernatural abilities. You can tell it is the best school for her; she wasn't the only one with an ability. Now she's surrounded by different people, each with different abilities.
She has a roommate named Enid; they didn't get along so well initially. They even demarcated the room just so they would know each other's boundary, but sooner than later, they became friends, not as if Wednesday still didn't act weird; of course she does; weird is just who she really is. Upon resumption in Nevermore Academy, she began to do different things, one of which is she trying to figure out the various killings connected to Nevermore and it's environs, along the line, she was able to discover much more, about her family, about the school, and even about her own abilities.
I'd been hearing about this movie for a while before I finally decided to see it. Especially for how weird and dark I heard it was. And upon watching it, I now very well understand the reason a lot of people won't stop talking about it, and now I find myself talking about it too; it tells how interesting and good of a movie it is.
My most loved character in this movie is the weirdest one, and that is Wednesday herself. What a lovely, weird, adorable, brutal, strange, cold, and intelligent girl she is. You know, I can't just find myself wondering how she was able to fit perfectly into that role; I even thought for a while that she must be just like this in real life, but then I had to call myself back and remind myself it is just a movie and she's playing the character she was asked to. But then, she did excellently well, no doubt about that.
Another thing I love most about her is how she played being inhumane, like she would do something and you would wonder if this girl is actually human; I mean, if she has blood running through her veins... If she really has emotions. I don't think or don't know if any other person who could have played that role better, it can only be her. Even though she began to loosen up later and began to care in a way that she wouldn't want to make so obvious, that did help the movie too.
Also, another thing that had me glued till the end was the mystery surrounding Nevermore and how Wednesday is doing her best to figure it out; she has lots of suspects, especially amidst the students. There were times I would also think her guess was right, not until things would take another turn and you would find the whole evidence pointing at a completely different person.
Now, let's talk about the school itself, Nevermore Academy. It was a school, but then, I love how they made it; you can't just hear bells unnecessarily or students taking lectures each and every time. I also love the idea of having different kids, each with their own supernatural abilities, together in a place. For the lovers of black, I'm sorry, but black is just the whole of this movie; anything you can think of with the word "black," that is what this movie is... It is weird, dark, and strange. Mysterious and dark.
Before I conclude, I would love to make mention of Thing. Yeah, that's its name, Thing. The thing happens to be a hand-like creature; it signals, walks, talks, and does everything with its fingers. There was a time I went thought Thing was dead, but then it came back, all stitched up again. I don't really know why, but I love that Thing character.
As I write, I just find myself smiling. Want to know why? Well, it's because I remember that at a time, Enid and Wednesday began to switch. I mean, Enid became Wednesday and Wednesday became Enid; those scenes were very amazing. Two different people now having to switch bodies. I love this movie so much, and Wednesday is the reason. Yeah, I love how she acts as if she needs nobody; more like, she can do everything on her own, and she only decides whether to make use of you, use you, and then let you go when she's done with you.
Overall, Wednesday is a very interesting movie. And I would love for you to give it a watch if you haven't.
