Hola querida comunidad de Movies & Tv el día de hoy vengo a compartir con ustedes mi reseña de una película de A24 dirigida por Darren Aronofsky muy esperada por la audiencia y el regreso del actor Brendan Fraser a la actuación. Tenía mucho tiempo después de haber visto el tráiler de The Whale que me dejó con muchas ganas de verla. Yo no he visto ni una sola película de Brendan Fraser hasta ahora y puedo decir que me dejó seca de tanto llorar y impresionada con su gran desempeño en el rol que protagoniza en The Whale.
Hello dear Movies & Tv community today I come to share with you my review of an A24 movie directed by Darren Aronofsky much awaited by the audience and the return of actor Brendan Fraser to acting. I had a long time after seeing the trailer of The Whale that left me really looking forward to see it. I haven't seen a single Brendan Fraser movie so far and I can say that it left me dry from crying and impressed with his great performance in the role he stars in The Whale.
Charlie (Brendan Fraser) es un profesor que debido a problemas de salud por su obesidad extrema nunca sale de casa y solo pasa sus días encerrado, en el sillón con su laptop dónde trabaja mediante videollamadas dando cursos para jóvenes que quieren aprender a escribir. El nunca muestra su rostro porque le da vergüenza que los demás vean su aspecto y sientan repulsión hacia él.
Charlie (Brendan Fraser) is a teacher who, due to health problems because of his extreme obesity, never leaves his house and only spends his days locked up, on the couch with his laptop where he works via video calls giving courses for young people who want to learn to write. He never shows his face because he is ashamed that others see his appearance and feel repulsion towards him.
La única compañera y persona que se preocupa por Charlie es Liz una mujer de carácter fuerte, que se encarga de darle de comer y de llevar un control de su salud tomándole la tensión arterial cada día. Ambos tienen algo que los une y por eso Liz se mantiene a su lado al pendiente de cada una de sus cosas.

Charlie tuvo una hija la cual dejó con su madre tras separarse de ella porque descubrió que estaba enamorado de otra persona. Su hija se llama Ellie y un día reaparece en su casa con una actitud desafiante debido al dolor y rencor que siente hacia su padre Charlie por haberla abandonado. Ella es una adolescente más que rebelde y está apunto de ser expulsada de la escuela de la cual se va a graduar por su mal comportamiento. Charlie le da la opción de hacerle todos los trabajos que le piden para poder graduarse y además le ofrece dinero a lo que ella acepta solo con la condición de que visite a Charlie y se puedan conocer un poco mejor. Charlie hace esto con la intención de retomar la relación con su hija.
Charlie had a daughter who he left with her mother after separating from her because he discovered he was in love with someone else. His daughter's name is Ellie and one day she reappears at home with a defiant attitude due to the pain and resentment she feels towards her father Charlie for having abandoned her. She is a rebellious teenager and is about to be expelled from the school she is graduating from because of her bad behavior. Charlie gives her the option of doing all the work she is asked to do in order to graduate and also offers her money to which she accepts only on the condition that she visits Charlie and they can get to know each other a little better. Charlie does this with the intention of resuming his relationship with his daughter.
En esta historia también destaca un joven que aparece un día en la puerta de la casa de Charlie llamado Tomas el cual viene con la intención de predicar la palabra de Dios y ayudar a mejorar la vida de Charlie pero el tiene un pasado oculto y es bastante interesante lo que se llega a conocer de el cuando vemos la película, es clave su papel casi al finalizar la historia.
In this story also highlights a young man who appears one day at the door of Charlie's house called Tomas who comes with the intention of preaching the word of God and help improve Charlie's life but he has a hidden past and it is quite interesting what we get to know about him when we see the film, his role is key almost at the end of the story.
Esta pelicula habla acerca de cómo los duelos mal gestionados pueden llevar a las personas a caer en situaciones muy decadentes. En el caso de Charlie, el no supo gestionar varios duelos en su vida por lo que encontró un refugio en la comida lo que lo llevo a la obesidad. El romper la relación con su hija y que está lo maltratara en el presente por sus acciones es otra puñalada a su salud mental. Brendan Fraser hizo un papel increíble como Charlie, dónde demostró que el aún es un gran actor a pesar de todo lo que tuvo que pasar en el pasado por lo cual no pudo estar en el mundo del cine por más de 15 años. Sadie Sink que hace a Ellie la hija de Charlie también me encantó como actuó aunque por momentos me dolió demasiado la actitud con la que trataba a su padre a pesar de que se puede llegar a comprender porque ella también tenía mucho dolor en su corazón, recalcando en la película muchas veces que fue abandonada por Charlie cuando solo tenía 8 años.
This movie talks about how mismanaged grief can lead people to fall into very decadent situations. In Charlie's case, he did not know how to manage several duels in his life so he found refuge in food, which led him to obesity. Breaking off his relationship with his daughter and having her mistreat him in the present for his actions is another stab at his mental health. Brendan Fraser did an amazing role as Charlie, where he showed that he is still a great actor despite all he had to go through in the past for which he couldn't be in the movie business for more than 15 years. Sadie Sink who plays Charlie's daughter Ellie I also loved her performance although at times it hurt me too much the attitude with which she treated her father even though you can come to understand because she also had a lot of pain in her heart, emphasizing in the film many times that she was abandoned by Charlie when she was only 8 years old.
Simplemente quedé sin palabras solo mis lágrimas pudieron hablar y salir por si solas durante toda la película, creo que no podría verla de nuevo al menos que pase un buen tiempo pero es una película tan buena que no creo que la pueda olvidar ni que pasen años. Se las recomiendo pero tienen que estar preparados para el drama, porque tiene mucho drama y si eres sensible como yo seguro sentirás el corazón roto de tantas escenas fuertes que tendrás que ver. Está película está siendo estrenada en algunas plataformas de streaming y tambien se encuentra en páginas online, tiene una duración de casi dos horas pero vale muchísimo la pena.
I was simply speechless only my tears could speak and come out by themselves during the whole movie, I don't think I could watch it again unless a long time passes but it is such a good movie that I don't think I could forget it even if years go by. I recommend it but you have to be prepared for the drama, because it has a lot of drama and if you are sensitive like me you will surely feel heartbroken from so many strong scenes that you will have to see. This movie is being released in some streaming platforms and it is also available in online pages, it has a length of almost two hours but it is very worth it.
