Certainly, we’re not talking about traveling to distant worlds or opening cosmic portals to reach them; rather, the plot takes place within an ordinary neighborhood, where utter madness breaks out in the wake of an astronomical event.
The passage of a comet will be the catalyst for unprecedented psychological turmoil, where each scene is stranger than the last, with no plausible explanation at hand. Without a doubt, the director has succeeded in creating an atmosphere of unease and suspense among the characters, pushing them to the brink of insanity—an effect he has also achieved in us, making us wonder if such a situation could happen to us as well. In short, once again, the film puts to the test just how fragile the human mind can be and how helpless we can be when faced with finding solutions to unexpected situations.
There’s something special about this film—something that, in my view, is a magical and fabulous touch brought to the forefront by the director. Of course, this master of cinema knows everything that happens and will happen in every scene, but what’s unsettling is that there was never a preconceived script; so the actors practically had to improvise much of their dialogue based on guidelines provided by the director. This makes the plot deeper, more human, and more surprising. From my perspective, we are definitely in the presence of a cinematic gem that transcends all the senses.

The on-screen action is driven by eight characters who gave incredible performances, especially considering they didn’t have a script to follow or memorize. All of this leads us to believe that each of them possesses a unique magic, which they’ve brought to life here in Coherence. Now, since the plot is so unsettling and disturbing, let’s focus on the names of the main characters before moving on to the context of the story—which, I assure you, is absolutely fantastic and a must-see. We have the eight friends: Em, Amir, Mike, Laurie, Kevin, Hugh, Beth, and Lee. As I said, each has their own particular story, and because of the madness that permeates their actions, they’ll be forced to seek out alternatives that could jeopardize some hidden secrets.
But, as is common among a group of friends, there are times when they get together, and right on the eve of Comet Miller’s passage, they planned a dinner at Mike’s house. Preparations were in full swing, and everyone was arriving at the meeting place; however, strange things were already happening, such as Em’s phone screen breaking for no apparent reason. During dinner, they began to talk, and crazy things kept happening; however, Em brought up past events specifically related to a comet’s passage and the things that happened as a result. For example, just like now, all technology stops working—but she adds something even crazier and more inexplicable. So she recounts that back then, during that comet’s passage, a woman called the police to say that the man in her house wasn’t her husband; the reason, she said, was that she had killed him the day before—oh my God.
Things are getting more unsettling, because suddenly strange noises are heard and the power goes out all at once. However, even though the entire neighborhood seems to be in darkness, only one house can be seen lit up in the distance. Each of them, desperate, looks for a way out and tries to find help, since the phones have stopped working. They argue a bit, and it seems that some kind of space-time rupture has been created, establishing certain parallel realities; this is what you can infer as the story unfolds, something you don’t immediately realize. Every moment becomes more dramatic, more terrifying, and could trigger some kind of uncontrolled violence in these characters. Some say they should wait, others say they should leave; but only two of them decide to go in search of help or try to figure out what’s happening.
Hugh and Amir are in charge of going out to find the house that has electricity and look for some answers there; however, they’ve been gone a long time, everyone is worried, and when they return, they reveal something surprising: apparently, they’ve come across a house where they’re having a dinner just like theirs, and everything is exactly the same. Hugh has the idea of going out again; he’s restless, desperate, and writes a note to leave behind when he returns home; but immediately someone knocks on the door—there’s no one there—and the very same note Hugh was writing appears taped to the door; there are two identical messages—how is that possible if he hasn’t even left yet? The way I see it, the astronomical event has created a kind of parallel reality, where the same house exists just a few steps away and where the same people—or their duplicates—exist inside those houses. The thing is, when they leave the house, we don’t know if the people returning are the same ones or if the residents of the houses have simply mixed together. What do you think? You’re going crazy, aren’t you?
It really is a very unsettling thing, even more so if you have the chance to encounter your own self; Could parallel realities be real?; Is it all just in each person’s mind?; Is it possible to stand face-to-face with your own self in the same space? Or are they all simply in a dream? These are things you’ll gradually discover, because here you won’t be faced with a single plot twist—instead, with every step of the action and as the story unfolds, the plot will take constant, unsettling, and mind-blowing turns. On the other hand, the subject at hand brings to light quantum theories that seem crazy; however, they might offer some logical explanation for what’s happening. You definitely have to watch this movie, pay close attention to the details, and figure out why, in the end, the focus shifts to one particular character. Get ready, because as a viewer, you’ll constantly be coming up with your own theories—it’s a puzzle with endless pieces that will definitely blow your mind; I just finished watching it and I’m still shaken up, hehehehehe.
The setting for the events couldn’t be more ordinary: a house in a seemingly quiet neighborhood where nothing ever happens. However, this ordinary place becomes the driving force behind the characters’ despair, as that very house turns into a sort of temporary prison that traps each person’s mind. I’m struck by every expression on the actors’ faces, as the camera directly captures every fear, every dread, and every drop of sweat they exude. From my perspective, the house serves as a disturbing example that brings everyone’s paranoia to the surface and drives them to commit senseless acts of madness. It demonstrates that something as simple as a power outage can subdue people’s minds, making them more insecure and hostile.
Something that comes to light amid so much darkness is the fragility of the human mind and how it can break under external pressures. And beyond physics and quantum theories, the truth is that it suggests to us that in life there are also multiple realities, and that we must know how to navigate toward them to reach our destiny—because within ourselves, we may harbor hidden realities that need only a simple crack to emerge; this implies that we may not know how to respond to them. Now, can we have collective trust in these times? Because just as happens in the house, the occurrence of a natural event was the cause of the mental breakdown of each of the characters, who were each seeking their own solutions. Definitivamente; el director ha logrado establecer un clima de inquietud y suspenso entre los personajes, que los lleva al borde del manicomio; cosa que también ha logrado en nosotros, al ponernos a pensar que dicha situación también nos puede ocurrir. En pocas palabras; nuevamente se pone a prueba lo débil que puede ser la mente humana y lo incapaz que podemos ser ante la búsqueda de solución a situaciones inesperadas.
Esta película tiene algo particular, que desde mi punto de vista ha sido un toque mágico y fabuloso puesto en el tapete por el director. Lógicamente; este maestro del cine sabe todo lo que ocurre y va a ocurrir en cada escena, pero lo inquietante, es que nunca existió un guion preconcebido; así que los actores prácticamente debían improvisar gran parte de sus diálogos, a partir de pautas dictadas por el director. Esto hace que la trama sea más profunda, más humana y más sorprendente. Definitivamente; mi perspectiva me indica, que estamos en presencia de una joya cinematográfica que trasciende todos los sentidos.

La acción en pantalla la ejercen 8 personajes que actuaron de manera increíble, tomando en cuenta que no existía un guion al cual debían apegarse y aprender. Todo esto nos lleva a pensar, que cada uno de ellos tiene una magia particular, la cual han puesto en práctica aquí en Coherence. Ahora; como la trama es tan inquietante y perturbadora, vamos a centrarnos en el nombre de los protagonistas para luego avanzar al contexto de la historia que les digo, es demasiado buena e imperdible. Tenemos a los ocho amigos; Em, Amir, Mike, Laurie, Kevin, Hugh, Beth y Lee; como dije, cada uno a su asunto particular y que debido a la locura que se imprime en las acciones; estarán obligados a la búsqueda de alternativas que pudieran poner en peligro algunos secretos ocultos.
Pero; como es común en un grupo de amigos, hay momentos de encuentro colectivo y justamente en víspera del paso del cometa Miller, planearon una cena en la casa Mike. Preparativos a la orden día y todos llegando al lugar de encuentro; sin embargo, ya hay cosas extrañas sucediendo, como la rotura sin sentido de la pantalla del teléfono de Em. Durante la cena empiezan a conversar y continúan pasando cosas locas; sin embargo, Em trae a colación eventos pasados precisamente sobre el paso de un cometa y las cosas que se produjeron a raíz de eso. Las cosas se van tornando más perturbadoras, porque de pronto se escuchan ruidos raros y de un golpe se va la luz. Sin embargo; a pesar de que todo el vecindario parece estar a oscuras, a lo lejos solo se ve una casa iluminada. Cada uno de ellos desesperado, busca la manera de salir y querer buscar ayuda, ya que los teléfonos han dejado de funcionar. Discuten un poco y al parecer, se ha podido crear una especie de ruptura de espacio tiempo estableciendo ciertas realidades paralelas; esto es lo que se puede presumir a medida que avanza la historia, cosa que no analizas de inmediato. Cada instante se vuelve más dramático, más aterrador y pudiera despertar en estos personajes algún tipo de violencia desmedida. Unos dices que se debe esperar, otros dicen que se debe salir; pero solo dos de ellos son los que deciden ir en busca de ayuda o intentar descubrir que es lo que esta pasando.
Hugh y Amir son los encargados de salir para dirigirse a la casa que tiene luz y allí buscar algo de respuesta; sin embargo, se han tardado mucho, todos están preocupados y cuando ellos vuelven, explican algo sorprendente; al parecer se han topado con una casa, donde justamente tienen una cena parecida a la de ellos y todo corresponde a una total similitud. Hugh tiene la idea de querer volver a salir, está inquieto, desesperado y escribe una nota para volver a la casa y dejarla; pero de inmediato tocan a la puerta, no hay nadie, la misma nota que Hugh estaba escribiendo es la que aparece pegada a la puerta; existen dos mensajes iguales, como es posible si aun no ha salido. A mi modo de pensar; el evento astronómico ha creado una especie de realidades paralelas, donde la misma casa existe a unos pasos y donde las mismas personas o sus duplicados existen dentro de esas casas. La cuestión es que, al momento de salir de la misma, no sabemos si los que vuelven son las mismas personas o simplemente los miembros de las casas se han mezclado; ¿Tú que crees, estás quedando loco verdad?
De verdad que es una cosa muy perturbadora, más aun si tienes las posibilidad de encontrarte con tu mismo yo; ¿Será cierto lo de las realidades paralelas?; ¿Todo está en la mente de cada uno de ellos?; ¿Es posible estar frente a tu propio yo en un mismo espacio?; o ¿O simplemente todos están en un sueño?; son cosas que poco a poco vas a descubrir, porque aquí no estarás en presencia de un giro, sino que en cada paso de las acciones y sobre la marcha, la trama dará giros constantes, perturbadores y alucinantes. Por otra parte; el tema en cuestión saca a luz teorías cuánticas que parecen locas, sin embargo, las mismas pudieran dar alguna explicación lógica a lo que está pasando. Definitivamente debes ver esta película, estar atento a los detalles y determinar por qué, al final de las cosas, el enfoque se torna alrededor de un personaje. Prepárate, porque las teorías por parte del espectador siempre estarán presente, es un rompecabezas con piezas infinitas, que definitivamente te van a volar la cabeza; la terminé de ver y aun estoy perturbado, jejejejeje.
El ambiente de las acciones no podría ser algo más común, que una casa en un aparente vecindario donde nada pasa. Sin embargo; ese sitio común será el motor de la desesperación, ya que esa misma casa, será una especie de cárcel momentánea que atrapa la mente de cada persona. Me impresiona cada expresión de los actores, donde tenemos una cámara que enfoca de manera directa cada miedo, cada temor y cada gota de sudor que ellos emiten. Desde mi punto de vista; la casa funciona como un ejemplo perturbador, que aflora la paranoia de todos y los lleva a cometer locuras sin sentido. Aquí se demuestra que algo tan sencillo como la ida de la luz, puede someter la mente de las personas, haciéndolas más inseguras y hostiles.
Algo que sale a la luz dentro de tanta oscuridad; es el sentido de debilidad de la mente humana y como se puede quebrar ante presiones externas. Y más allá de la física y de las teorías cuánticas; lo cierto es nos da a entender, que en la vida también existen múltiples realidades y que debemos saber caminar a ellas para obtener nuestro destino, porque dentro de nosotros mismos, podemos tener realidades ocultas que solo necesitan una simple fractura para emerger; implicando esto, que podemos no saber actuar ante ellas. Ahora; ¿En estos tiempos podemos tener confianza colectiva?; porque así como ocurre en la casa, la ocurrencia de un evento natural, fue el causante de la ruptura mental de cada uno de los personajes, quienes iban en busca de soluciones particulares.
