Black Widow o Viuda Negra es la más reciente película de Marvel Studios estrenada en Cines y Disney Plus en julio del 2021, después de varios meses de retraso debido a la pandemia del Covid-19. Es dirigida por Cate Shortland y estelarizada por Scarlett Johansson, acompañada de un reparto compuesto por Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz y David Harbour. La película, según la cronología del Universo Cinematográfico de Marvel, está ambientada después de lo sucedido en Capitán América: Guerra Civil, con Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) siendo ahora una fugitiva, teniendo que regresa a Budapest para destapar una conspiración ligada con su pasado.
Desde la primera secuencia, además de los créditos iniciales, la película de Black Widow establece un tono sombrío y altamente político, como buena película de espías que pretende homenajear, manteniéndolo hasta el final; demostrando que los guionistas y productores de Marvel Studios han aprendido a no forzar el humor en sus historias, destinándolo a momentos específicos donde es necesario aliviar la tensión. A esto le sumamos un mayor desarrollo del personaje de Black Widow a diferencia de otras películas de la franquicia, dándonos a conocer mucho más sobre su pasado y sus motivaciones. Ésta última mantiene además una buena química e interacción con los personajes secundarios, teniendo cada uno su lugar en la historia, la cual goza de un ritmo constante a través del cual sabe a dónde nos quiere llevar. Y como ya nos tiene acostumbrados Marvel Studios, las escenas de acción están ejecutadas de tal forma que buscan ser lo más sorprendentes que puedan, alternando entre explosiones, peleas, tiroteos y persecuciones.
Sin embargo, la acción, en su búsqueda de ser grandilocuente, lleva a resultados muchas veces inverosímiles, como por ejemplo que la protagonista salga con daños mínimos después de un ataque que debería ser mortal o al menos de alto riesgo para ella. Por otro lado, Dreykov, el villano principal de la película e interpretado por Ray Winstone, muy inspirado en los antagonistas clásicos de James Bond, resulta ser un personaje sin profundidad ni desarrollo, quedando relegado a ser simplemente “el malo”.
Pese a tener fallas propias de las producciones de su estilo, Black Widow cumple su cometido de mantenerte entretenido, además de contar con muy buenas actuaciones, personajes carismáticos, acción deslumbrante y de sentirse como una historia mucho más madura dentro del género de los superhéroes. . . From the very first sequence, besides the opening credits, the Black Widow movie establishes a somber and highly political tone, as a good spy movie it intends to pay homage to, maintaining it until the end; demonstrating that the screenwriters and producers of Marvel Studios have learned not to force humor into their stories, allocating it to specific moments where it is necessary to relieve tension. To this we add a greater development of the character of Black Widow unlike other films in the franchise, giving us to know much more about her past and her motivations. The latter also maintains a good chemistry and interaction with the secondary characters, each having their place in the story, which enjoys a steady pace through which it knows where it wants to take us. And as we are used to from Marvel Studios, the action scenes are executed in such a way that they seek to be as surprising as possible, alternating between explosions, fights, shootouts and chases.
However, the action, in its quest to be grandiloquent, often leads to implausible results, such as the protagonist coming out with minimal damage after an attack that should be deadly or at least high-risk for her. On the other hand, Dreykov, the main villain of the film and played by Ray Winstone, very much inspired by the classic James Bond antagonists, turns out to be a character without depth or development, being relegated to being simply "the bad guy".
Despite having flaws typical of productions of its style, Black Widow does its job of keeping you entertained, as well as having very good performances, charismatic characters, dazzling action and feeling like a much more mature story within the superhero genre.
