Marea Baja (2019): Criminal Brotherhood. Although the film we’re analyzing today is certainly a thriller, it’s also steeped in deep drama—and as you know, I’m not the kind of person who sits glued to the screen just to enjoy moments when relatively nothing is happening. That said, I also feel that, even without knowing anything about the plot, there was something—that certain something—that drew me in, and honestly, I watched it from start to finish. I don’t regret it, because the story conveys profound messages—some hidden, others plain to see. I’m talking about Low Tide, released in 2019. It’s a film that really grabs you from the very first moment, because we don’t know what happened to their friendship in a hostile world marked by inequality and that harsh transition into adulthood. What seemed like a simple summer could have become the trigger for something much worse for everyone.
Low Tide, written and directed by Kevin McMullin, a filmmaker whose approach is to subtly explore themes such as the loss of innocence, friendship, and the way hasty decisions are made—decisions that completely change the course of the story. What’s important about the director’s choices is that things aren’t revealed abruptly, much less through long dialogues; on the contrary, revealing glances and well-placed silences are the key elements that lend the plot that touch of suspense and drama.

All of this leads to hostile reactions, causing everything the protagonists have built to crumble completely; secrets will be the cornerstone that proves just how strong their friendship is. Even with its deep sense of drama, I enjoyed this film because of the message it conveys and the way it makes us think about how events will unfold; here, you don’t know what’s going to happen, which leaves room for speculation on our part, and naturally, we inevitably find ourselves fully immersed in the story.

"Low Tide" isn't a story about young people enjoying the summer after a long school year; these young people experience summer as a kind of freedom—some to do good and work, like Peter (Jaeden Martell), Alan's brother—a hardworking, gentle boy who lost his mother but remains steadfast in his beliefs; he's very intelligent, which leads him to take incredible actions. Alan (Keean Johnson) is more vulnerable but tenacious, a dreamer and impulsive, which leads him to take actions that could endanger the family.

Smitty (Daniel Zolghadri) is another one of the friends; he’ll side with the highest bidder just to avoid going to prison—he’s a blackmailer and a snitch. At first, Alan, Red, and Smitty are the ones involved in the initial actions, forming a trio where one of them always wants to prove something to the whole group, knowing that Red is like their boss.

These three characters are part of a small gang of thieves; Red, Smitty, and Alan set out in a small boat toward abandoned houses to rob them. They break into one of the houses and begin looting; however, the owners suddenly arrive, and they have to run away. There seems to be no escape; Red and Alan jump, but Smitty is afraid—he manages to jump but breaks his leg. Everyone manages to get out, but they leave behind some evidence. From there, secrets and the desire for more gradually come to light; money is a powerful catalyst, and as they say, money is nobody’s friend. Things proceed as usual, but ambition has no friends, and they want more—especially Alan, who is obsessed with buying a car he obviously can’t afford.

If we stop to think about it, the younger brother always stays home and plays no part in the stories; however, Peter is much more mature than everyone else, he’s smart, and even though he’s just a kid, he wants to experience the adult world. Now, they need to pull off another heist at the cabin of a man who has already passed away; Smitty is injured and can’t take part. In this case, there’s no other choice, so Alan takes his brother Peter with him; they arrive on the other side of the island and start stealing; the brothers find a sort of treasure, which they hide from Red. Suddenly, the police arrive; it seems someone is a snitch. Red escapes in the boat, leaving Peter to fend for himself; Alan has been arrested and is interrogated with the intention of getting him to turn in Red, who appears to be not just a thief but something more. Peter’s intelligence knows no bounds—he hides the treasure and takes only one item with him; Peter manages to make his way back as best he can.

It turns out that this treasure is worth a lot, and it will be the cause of major conflicts among the friends—friends who begin to doubt one another; money is worth more than anything else. Alan and Peter, without the others knowing, go to a pawn shop, pawn that part of the treasure, and manage to get a large sum of money; then Alan’s greed is so great that he makes another trade specifically to buy a car; this, of course, piques everyone’s curiosity—where did Alan get all that money for it if he didn’t have a single penny to his name? Peter is upset and takes unpredictable actions that you’ll have to discover for yourselves. The truth is that when the others find out, that treasure acts like a bomb and becomes the trigger for a series of crazy and reckless actions, creating a lot of tension in the plot—a plot that, I must say, completely captivated me, even though I’m not usually a fan of them. Summer ceases to be a season of friendship and turns into the agony of wanting what the other person has; no one knows who to trust.

Life is just like the title suggests: when the tide is high, everything remains hidden without a hitch, life goes on, and people carry on with their daily routines. However, when the tide goes out, everything is laid bare and the darkest intentions emerge, with the aim of destroying one another; you can’t trust anyone, especially when it comes to money; because those who don’t have it crave it madly, and those who do just want to have more. Without a doubt, money completely changes people’s emotions, because friendship has its limits when there is deceit and material possessions that should have been shared. Friendship is fleeting and self-serving—that’s what we see in Low Tide; it’s every man for himself.

In short, the film is set in spectacular locations; the town is beautiful, the island incredible—elements that combine with the stillness of the night to create a magical contrast. The town serves as a spacious setting where the action unfolds seamlessly. The characters, the plot, the atmosphere, and the events—all of these elements together convey a very profound message about the meaning of friendship and how it can be corrupted by external factors. This suggests that true friendship can never exist when it is conditioned by orders and mistreatment. Simply put, they believe they are friends because they think they want the same things; take care, and see you soon.

No me arrepiento de ello, por que la historia presenta mensajes profundos, unos ocultos y otros que se reflejan a simple vista. Les hablo de Low Tide originaria del año 2019. Un filme que desde el primer momento realmente nos atrapa, porque no sabemos que pasó con la amistad entre ellos dentro de un mundo hostil, con desigualdad y esa dura transformación hacia la madurez. Lo que pareciera un simple verano; pudiera haberse convertido en el detonante de cosas mucho peor para todos.
Low Tide escrita y dirigira por Kevin McMullin; un cineasta, cuyo enfoque es el de dar a conocer con total sutileza, temas como la pérdida de la inocencia, la amistad y la forma como se toman decisiones apresuradas, que cambian por completo el sentido de la historia. Lo importante de las acciones de dirección, es que las cosas no se descubren de manera abrupta, mucho menos a través de largos diálogos; al contrario, las miradas que delatan y los silencios cuando deben existir, son los elementos claves que le dan ese toque de suspenso y drama a la trama.

Todo esto conlleva a reacciones hostiles, haciendo que todo lo que han construido los protagonistas se desmorone por completo; donde los secretos serán el pilar fundamental, para demostrar que tan fuerte es la amistad entre ellos. Un filme que aun con su carga profunda de drama, me ha gustado por el mensaje que transmite y por la forma en que nos hace pensar sobre el desarrollo de otras acciones; aquí no sabes lo que va a suceder, por lo que da paso a las especulaciones de nuestra parte y lógicamente; de forma inevitable nos metemos de lleno en la historia.

Low Tide no es una historia de jóvenes que viven el verano luego de una larga jornada escolar; estos jóvenes viven el verano como una especie de libertad, unos para hacer el bien y trabajar como lo hace Peter (Jaeden Martell) hermano de Alan; un chico trabajador, apasible, perdieron a su madre pero eso no le permite salir de sus creencias; muy inteligente, cosa que lo lleva a ejecutar acciones increíbles. Ahora; se necesita dar otro golpe en una cabaña de un hombre que ya ha fallecido; Smitty está lesionado y no puede participar. En este caso no hay más remedio y Alan se lleva a su hermano Peter; llegan a la otra parte de a isla, empiezan a robar; los hermanos encuentran una especie de tesoro, cosa que esconden de Red. Lo cierto es; que al enterarse los demás, ese tesoro funciona como una bomba y será el detonate de acciones siguientes muy locas y desmedidas, generando mucha tensión en la trama; trama que les digo, me cautivó por completo, ya que no soy amante de ellas; ya el verano deja de ser una estación entre amigos, para pasar a la agonía de querer lo que el otro tiene; nadie sabe en quien confiar.

La vida es como el título; cuando la marea está alta, todo se encuentra oculto sin problemas, la vida sigue y las personas continúan con lo cotidiano. Sin embargo; cuando la marea baja, todo se puede descubrir y las más oscuras intenciones emergen, con el fin de destruirse unos a los otros; no se puede confiar en nadie, más un si se trata de dinero; porque los que no tienen, lo desean con locura y los que tienen; solo quien tener más. Definitivamente; el dinero cambia por completo las emociones de las personas, porque la amistad tiene sus límites cuando existe engaño y cosas materiales que debieron ser compartidas. Esto indica, que jamás hay amistad cuando la misma está condicionada por órdenes y malos tratos. Trying to live a normal life while dealing day after day with a constant feeling of terror and suspense may seem impossible, but there is a fictional reality in which surviving an atrocious danger requires enduring the agonizing task of not making even the slightest sound in order to live in a silent world...

Delving into horror cinema, John Krasinski proves to be a true professional by directing and starring in “A Quiet Place” (2018). It is unusual to see the star of “The Office” lead a family drama in a film whose suspense is pushed to the extreme. But I realize that he is a very talented actor, standing out in his role while managing the production of a film that had the potential to become a franchise.

His portrayal of Lee Abbott remains memorable. Being the protective father of a family in a horror film carries enormous narrative weight, something that is often used as an excuse in action movies to turn the protagonist into an action hero. Krasinski, however, keeps his feet on the ground, and although he is the director, he does not seek to glorify himself or become the center of attention. Through a performance grounded in anguish-filled looks, he conveys very effectively what it means to be a desperate father trying to keep his family alive in a world overrun by monsters. He is one of those artists with creative vision, and I respect that greatly.

The story takes place in a post-apocalyptic world, where we closely follow the Abbott family as they struggle each day to survive another day on an isolated farm in upstate New York. Remaining silent is normally an option, but in this film it is practically torture because of the risks involved in staying completely quiet. The Death Angels are relentless creatures that can be anywhere. It does not matter if you are a kilometer away—they will be able to hear you. And if you are standing in front of one, it will hear your breathing, leaving you no chance to escape its claws.

Something I value greatly in a good story is world-building: the construction of a fictional world. Its quality lies in the details that build its context. An apocalyptic reality is seen far too often in cinema, but it does not matter how frequently an idea has been used; what matters is how stylishly it is implemented. For example, a desolate world in which survivors have had to redesign every aspect of their existence to eliminate noise is something truly original. It is fascinating and, at the same time, disturbing, since here even a simple cold could be a death sentence.

Observing the methods used to adapt and remain silent is ingenious: paths covered with fine sand to muffle footsteps, the essential use of sign language to communicate, and even hiding beneath a waterfall—a natural source of noise—to mask smaller sounds. This atmosphere was innovative in its exploration of a new kind of psychological horror, since it can make you feel intense anxiety when a branch accidentally cracks underfoot or the simple fall of an object gives away your position. This is the horror of carelessness: every sound can be a deadly trap, making silence both a safe refuge and a prison sentence.

“A Quiet Place” is not exactly a silent film, but it has a remarkable narrative power that is mostly visual, to the point that it does not need sound or extensive dialogue to be fully understood. The director placed complete trust in the audience’s intelligence and in cinema’s golden rule: “show, don’t tell.”

The rules of survival, the family dynamics, and the traumas of the past are communicated exclusively through the actors’ body language. I must say that this may also be one of the film’s weaknesses, since I highly doubt the average viewer knows sign language. Fortunately, most versions of the film are subtitled. But the appeal of this story lies precisely in that: breaking away from spoken language. The absence of dialogue reminds us that the rawest human emotions transcend any words.

But what turned this film into a franchise were its monstrous antagonists, the terrifying Death Angels. Their design is simply horrifying: they are alien beings without the sense of sight, armored from head to toe with impenetrable plates. They are extremely fast and agile, and, like dogs, possess hypersensitive hearing. The terror they inspire comes from the fact that they are nearly invincible and can kill anyone in the blink of an eye. There is nowhere to hide or escape; if they hear you, death is immediate.

“A Quiet Place” is what I would call a suspense drama. It is not simply a monster movie; it is a story about the inherent fears of parenthood and the tension created by an unprecedented latent threat, like hunters lying in wait. That is what makes it such an appealing film. The ingenuity of its premise is executed to perfection. Tratar de vivir una vida normal conviviendo día a día con un constante sentimiento de terror y suspenso puede parecer imposible, pero hay una realidad ficticia en dónde para sobrevivir a un peligro atroz todos los días hay que someterse a la angustiante tarea de ni siquiera hacer el más mínimo ruido para vivir en un lugar en silencio...

Incursionando en el cine de terror, John Krasinski demuestra ser todo un profesional al dirigir y actuar en "A Quiet Place" (2018). Es raro ver al tipo de "The Office" protagonizar un drama familiar en una película cuyo suspenso es extremo a más no poder. Pero me doy cuenta de que es un actor muy talentoso al destacarse en su papel y manejar la producción de una cinta que tuvo el potencial de convertirse en una franquicia.

Su interpretación como Lee Abbott sigue siendo memorable, ser el padre protector de una familia en una película de terror tiene un peso narrativo enorme que suele ser una excusa en las películas de acción para convertir a su protagonista en un héroe de acción, pero Krasinski tiene los pies puestos sobre la tierra, y aunque sea el director, no busca vanagloriarse para ser el centro de atención. Por lo que el suspenso escala a niveles casi insoportables, en especial por el hecho de que la madre, Evelyn, está en la recta final de un embarazo. (Ese factor desencadena una de las secuencias más tensas que he visto en una película de terror)

Hola cinéfilos, espero que estén teniendo un hermoso día. Hoy les traje esta película animada que nunca había visto hasta hace poco y la verdad me gustó.

Creo que no suele hablarse mucho de esta peli como otras sobre princesas y reinos, pero esta se basó en algunos detalles verdaderos, porque en la historia sí hubo una joven desaparecida a la que estuvieron buscando, pero creo que nunca encontraron.

🎬 Un poco de contexto

Todo inicia en Rusia cuando una joven llamada Anya sale del orfanato a probar suerte como adulta porque ya tenía 18 años y ya no podían tenerla ahí.

Lo poco que se recuerda de su historia es que de pequeña fue abandonada por su familia y la recogieron las personas del orfanato. Nunca conoció a ningún familiar y la verdad su vida en ese lugar era muy triste y solitaria.

Al salir se sintió como liberada de todo eso, era como empezar de nuevo y ella tenía el control de su vida, en eso se encuentra con un pequeño perrito el cual parecía quererla llevar hasta un castillo abandonado.

Ella entra y mientras va caminando y conociendo el lugar, empieza a sentir que ya había estado ahí, le vienen a la mente algunos recuerdos de un baile con su familia, pero es interrumpida por un joven llamado Dimitri quien le dice que se vaya.

En eso Dimitri ve que la chica se parecía mucho a alguien que había conocido en el pasado. Justamente estaban buscando a esta chica por todas partes porque su abuela estaba buscándola y aquel que la trajera con ella iba a recibir una gran recompensa monetaria.

En eso aparece el amigo de Dimitri, Vladimir, quien también parece recordar la cara de esta chica y que su nombre era Anastasia. A ambos se les ocurre una gran idea, pedirle a Anya que se haga pasar por esta chica y a cambio ellos le llevarían a conocer París.

Anya quería ir a esa ciudad porque según ella había pistas de que su familia podría estar ahí, ya que siempre cargó con ella una pequeña cajita musical con el nombre de esa ciudad y estaba segura de que al ir podría saber más de su pasado.

Entonces los tres emprenden el viaje a París, mientras tanto le enseñan a Anya sobre cómo ser alguien de la realeza para que la actuación y todo sea creíble.

♥ Lo que más me gustó

Me costó encontrar esta película y en buena calidad jeje, pero al fin se dio el día de verla, había visto varios resúmenes al respecto, pero no es lo mismo verla a que te cuenten.

Una de las escenas que más me gustó fue cuando Anya entra a este gran castillo y empieza a recordar el último baile al que había asistido. Estaban sus padres y hermanos, se la veía muy feliz de estar ahí y también estaba su abuela.

A lo que averigüé esta película sí se basó en varias cosas de la vida real, a pesar de que en la vida real no se encontró a Anastasia, pero sí hubo una mujer que aseguraba al 100% ser ella, pero cuando le hicieron las pruebas de sangre, los resultados indicaron que no tenía la misma sangre.

Eso sí me decepcionó un poco jeje porque me hubiera gustado saber que sí era ella en verdad. En la película sí aparece como si fuera ella, pero ojo no es lo que en verdad pasó.

Es muy triste lo que le pasó a su familia, pero al menos Anastasia pudo reencontrarse con su abuela, la Emperatriz María Fiódorovna.

Durante su viaje hacia París le empiezan a pasar cosas raras a esta joven, porque resultó ser que un hechicero llamado Rasputín, quien le había provocado todo eso a su familia, ahora decidió tomar venganza sobre ella, haciendo de todo para matarla y así también que su alma pase a otro plano.

En uno de sus intentos, la hace sonámbula haciéndola creer que su familia la espera en el mar, pidiéndole que salte para estar con ellos. Anastasia casi se lanza al mar helado desde el barco en el que iban, si no la salvaba Dimitri.

Ellos empezaron a conocerse mejor, en un principio habían empezado con el pie izquierdo, pero luego empiezan a ver que tenían varias cosas en común y es así que se empiezan a gustar. Justo se ve eso cuando Anastasia usa un lindo vestido celeste y con un poco de arreglos parecía ser realmente la joven que estaban buscando.

Otra escena bonita es cuando le enseñan a caminar, a comportarse y sobre las políticas y cosas familiares para pasar las pruebas que tenía la Emperatriz. Resulta que ya habían intentado suplantar la identidad de su nieta varias jóvenes y algunas con ayuda de Dimitri y Vladimir, por eso se les hacía preguntas sobre su pasado para que no fueran engañados por una impostora.

Cuando llegan a París, se reportan con Sofía, la prima de la Emperatriz, quien manejaba todo este tema. La Emperatriz ya había decidido no recibir a nadie más, dando por concluida su búsqueda, pero al lograr convencer a Sofía de que era la verdadera joven, esta consigue que la Emperatriz acceda a verla.

La abuela ve a Anastasia y se sorprende al ver el parecido que tenía, pero antes de entusiasmarse empieza a preguntarle cosas de su pasado. Ella responde todo correctamente hasta cosas que ni Dimitri ni Vladimir le habían enseñado.

Pero además se percata del collar que llevaba y las inscripciones que tenía, Anastasia le dice que cuando la abandonaron solo tenía eso y una pequeña cajita musical y con esa prueba la abuela se da cuenta de que en verdad es su nieta y se pone muy feliz.

Al ver esta escena, Dimitri decide regresar a su ciudad. Si bien se había enamorado de Anastasia, sabía que no podían estar juntos porque no tenía nada que ofrecerle y además no estaba seguro de los sentimientos de ella hacia él.

Anastasia lo detiene. En eso aparece Rasputín, quien estuvo a punto de matarla, pero sólo provocó que se rompiera el antiguo relicario al que estaba unida su vida mágica, lo que finalmente lo destruye para siempre. Luego de haberlo vencido, Dimitri y Anastasia se besan y deciden volver juntos a Rusia.

Si bien encontró a su abuela que era lo que más ansiaba, Anastasia ahora quería estar con Dimitri, se despide de su abuela, deja su título como duquesa y se va. Pero le promete a su abuela que la visitará y le contará todo lo que viva.

🌌 Algunas partes que me hicieron pensar

Hay partes que me parecieron muy interesantes, por ejemplo, la historia de Rasputín. En los libros siempre se habló de este personaje como consejero del Zar, parecía ser alguien bueno porque curaba la enfermedad de uno de sus hijos, pero lo que quería era destronar a esta familia y gobernar él solo.

Se dice que le hizo muchas brujerías a esta familia, pero no contó con que una hija del Zar seguiría viva, porque él, ya muerto, no podía trascender entonces si mataba a Anastasia posiblemente podría al fin ser liberado.

Siempre mencionaron que lo trataron de matar varias veces, pero siempre sobrevivía, por esos raros poderes que tenía. Esa es una historia aparte que me parece interesante seguir leyendo porque existen varias versiones legendarias sobre los detalles exactos de su muerte.

Por supuesto la otra parte que me hizo pensar fue que en la película sí se reconoció a Anastasia como la nieta de la Emperatriz, pero en la vida real indicaron que no fue esa joven. Lo que me hace pensar en que quizá sí era la hija, pero quizá de otro padre (ahí entra un poco de mi parte conspirativa jeje).

Porque esa joven recordaba todo de su vida pasada pero lo único que no encajó bien fueron los resultados de sangre y otros para determinar que era realmente de la realeza. Eso sí que me decepcionó, pero yo creo que podría haber pasado algo así.

Anastasia (1997): The Young Woman Who Could Be

Hello movie lovers, I hope you are having a beautiful day. Today I brought you this animated movie that I had never seen until recently, and honestly, I liked it.

I think this movie doesn't get talked about much like other ones about princesses and kingdoms, but this one was based on some true details, because in the story there really was a young woman who went missing and they were looking for her, but I think they never found her.

Go get your popcorn, some tissues, and let's get started.

🎬 A little context

Everything starts in Russia when a young woman named Anya leaves the orphanage to try her luck as an adult because she was already 18 years old and they could no longer keep her there.

The little that is remembered about her story is that as a child she was abandoned by her family and was taken in by the people at the orphanage. She never met any family members, and the truth is her life in that place was very sad and lonely.

Upon leaving, she felt liberated from all of that; it was like starting anew, and she had control over her life. In that moment, she came across a small puppy that seemed to want to lead her to an abandoned castle.

She enters and as she walks around getting to know the place, she starts to feel like she had been there before, some memories of a dance with her family come to mind, but she is interrupted by a young man named Dimitri who tells her to leave.

At that moment, Dimitri sees that the girl looks very much like someone he had met in the past. They were actually looking for this girl everyplace because her grandmother was searching for her, and whoever brought her to her would receive a large monetary reward.

At that moment, Dimitri's friend, Vladimir, appears, who also seems to remember the girl's face and that her name was Anastasia. They both come up with a great idea: to ask Anya to impersonate this girl, and in return, they would take her to see Paris.

Anya wanted to go to that city because, according to her, there were clues that her family might be there, as she always carried a small music box with the name of that city and was sure that by going, she could learn more about her past.

So the three of them set off on the journey to Paris, while in the meantime they teach Anya how to be someone of royalty so that her performance and everything else is believable.

Will they manage to convince the grandmother that this girl is her true granddaughter, or will they fail in their attempt?

♥ What I liked the most

It was hard for me to find this movie and in good quality haha, but finally, the day came to watch it. I had seen several summaries about it, but it's not the same as watching it to being told about it.

One of the scenes I liked the most was when Anya enters this grand castle and starts to remember the last ball she had attended. Her parents and siblings were there, she looked very happy to be there, and her grandmother was also there.

From what I found out, this movie was indeed based on several real-life events, even though in real life Anastasia was never found. However, there was a woman who claimed 100% to be her, but when they did blood tests, the results indicated that she didn't have the same blood.

That did disappoint me a bit haha because I would have liked to know that it was really her. In the movie, she does appear as if it were her, but be careful, it's not what really happened.

It's very sad what happened to her family, but at least Anastasia was able to reunite with her grandmother, Empress Maria Feodorovna.

During her journey to Paris, strange things start happening to this young woman, because it turned out that a sorcerer named Rasputin, who had caused all that to her family, now decided to take revenge on her, doing everything to kill her and thus ensure that her soul passes to another plane.

In one of his attempts, he makes her sleepwalk, making her believe that her family is waiting for her in the sea, asking her to jump to be with them. Anastasia almost jumped into the icy sea from the ship they were on, if Dimitri hadn't saved her.

They started to get to know each other better; at first, they had started off on the wrong foot, but then they began to see that they had several things in common, and that's how they started to like each other. You can see that when Anastasia wears a lovely light blue dress, and with a few adjustments, she truly seemed to be the young woman they were looking for.

Another beautiful scene is when they teach her to walk, behave, and about politics and family matters to pass the tests set by the Empress. It turns out that several young women had already tried to impersonate her granddaughter, some with the help of Dimitri and Vladimir, which is why they were asked questions about their past to avoid being deceived by an impostor.

When they arrive in Paris, they report to Sofia, the Empress's cousin, who was handling all of this. The Empress had already decided not to receive anyone else, considering her search concluded, but after managing to convince Sofia that she was the true young woman, Sofia got the Empress to agree to see her.

The grandmother sees Anastasia and is surprised by the resemblance she has, but before getting excited, she starts asking her questions about her past. She answers everything correctly, even things that neither Dimitri nor Vladimir had taught her.

But she also notices the necklace she was wearing and the inscriptions it had. Anastasia tells her that when they abandoned her, she only had that and a small music box, and with that proof, the grandmother realizes that she is indeed her granddaughter and becomes very happy.

Upon seeing this scene, Dimitri decides to return to his city. Although he had fallen in love with Anastasia, he knew they couldn't be together because he had nothing to offer her and he wasn't sure of her feelings toward him.

Anastasia stops him. At that moment, Rasputin appears, who was about to kill her, but only caused the ancient locket to break, to which her magical life was bound, ultimately destroying him forever. After defeating him, Dimitri and Anastasia kiss and decide to return to Russia together.

Although she found her grandmother, which was what she longed for the most, Anastasia now wanted to be with Dimitri. She says goodbye to her grandmother, gives up her title as duchess, and leaves. But she promises her grandmother that she will visit her and tell her everything she experiences.

🌌 Some parts that made me think

There are parts that I found very interesting, for example, the story of Rasputin. In the books, this character was always portrayed as the Tsar's advisor; he seemed like a good person because he cured one of the Tsar's children's illness, but what he really wanted was to dethrone this family and rule by himself.

It is said that he did many witchcrafts to this family, but he didn't count on one of the Tsar's daughters still being alive, because he, already dead, couldn't transcend, so if he killed Anastasia, he could finally be freed.

They always mentioned that they tried to kill him several times, but he always survived, due to those rare powers he had. That is a separate story that I find interesting to keep reading about because there are various legendary versions regarding the exact details of his death.

Of course, the other part that made me think was that in the movie, Anastasia was indeed recognized as the granddaughter of the Empress, but in real life, they indicated that it wasn't that young woman. Which makes me think that maybe she was indeed the daughter, but perhaps of another father (that's where my conspiratorial side comes in, hehe).

Because that young woman remembered everything from her past life, but the only thing that didn't quite fit were the blood and other tests to determine that she was truly of royal blood. That did disappoint me, but I think something like that could have happened.

Well, I hope you liked this movie and I would like to know what you think about this last part I mentioned, do you think she was the girl they were looking for or not?

War Room - Indeed A Space of War
Was this really a movie or an encounter? I can't really explain what this movie did to me because I'm so speechless right now but not because I don't know what to say or type but because I feel overwhelmed by the awakening this movie brings.

It's not always about how strong you are at times that makes it vivid to not need to be awakened but some things, events, or what we see and come across just seem to arouse what's inside us to stir it up the more and for the better and for whoever who's even weak and not strong, they get awakened to request and receive more strength. These are the boxes War room ticked and I wondered why it stayed there in my playlist for so long before watching it.

If you're a believer, non-believer or backslider, I bet it that this movie would stir something up in you. War room was supposed to be a fighting and action movie based on my reasoning from the title and with the way the first scene started with definition of wars graphically and how it's done but I never knew it was a strategy to the plot of the movie.

War room is about a once failed bride who has grown to an aged woman called Clara and lost her husband into the consequences of the work he chooses to do as a military but the sad part is that they never had peace and harmony in their marriage till the husband passed away of which Mrs. Clara only had the chance to realize how she failed God and her marriage only when her husband was late. Fortunately she became like a best friend to God in prayers.

On the other hand was Elizabeth and Tony her husband, whom also had no peace in their marriage and it was obvious they're both tired of themselves already of which their daughter Danielle also is getting affected with no cooperate love and affection from both parents. Not until God brought Elizabeth also known as Liz to Mrs Clara's doorstep and the journey to spiritual warfare began.

The war room I was expecting to be a movie of physical fights and weapon turned out to be a movie of spiritual fight weaponized by prayers right from a closet that was meant to be for wardrobe but turned to a room of prayer warfare and word of God. I won't lie that this movie got me crying at some point not because I'm strange to what God can actually do, even the ones we least expect that can ever happen but because it actually happened and served as a proof that prayer still works even if we may feel tired to continue because we are yet to receive the answers.

One of the moments for me was when Tony was about cheating on Liz, like almost but the work of prayer stopped that, touched the heart of a man that had turned stone already and brought back Liz's home to her, not her husband alone but also her daughter. Moment of losing job and about to be jailed and so more...

I love the twist in the title to the story, I love the work put into place by the actors who are Karen Abercrombie as Clara Williams, Priscilla C. Shirer as Elizabeth Jordan, T.C. Stallings as Tony Jordan, Alena Pitts as Danielle Jordan, and many more other actors who made this movie. Crews also are not left out in this amazing project as it was directed by Alex Kendrick and written by Stephen Kendrick.

This movie proves that prayer still works like wonders especially when you believe in the name of the one whom you take your requests to. War room is an interesting, impactful, and educating movie on family, love, and marriage in general. Some fights can't be fought alone as a woman but need God to fight for you.

I'll recommend War room a thousand times and you can only understand the passion behind this decision only after you're done watching it.

I was tired but decided to watch a movie tonight after a long day when I came across this movie. I have been skipping it but decided to look at it once again and if I must be honest with myself, it wasn’t a waste of time at all. I can still remember watching this blockbuster back in the day, and to be honest I did not really understand the movie itself then, I just loved the actions and the way Neo fought, menh back then it was thrilling. Still thrilling, but back then there was nothing like it. However, looking at it now, I can really understand the movie. I wish I rewatched part 1 now LOL, but either way I watched this one so I will review it.

So this looked like it happened six months after part one, Neo was already one of the most powerful humans fighting in the war against machines, the way he manipulated the matrix was just so insane that you would think he will be the savior of humanity. The machines however are already planning an attack on Zion, the last human city to survive and they attacked with such ferocity that it left the humans with almost no way to fight back. This made Neo, Trinity and Morpheus return to the matrix to seek answers for a way out which was when they met the Keymaker.

The Keymaker just happened to be a program that could open doors that were normally inaccessible within the matrix. And even with everything happening at the same time, Neo was having continuous visions of Trinity dying which in a way made him conflicted and started trying to find ways to save Trinity while Morpheus was trying to get him to see saving Zion was the ultimate priority. At a point Neo had to choose between saving Zion or saving Trinity and he chose Trinity in place of Zion which made the machines almost take over Zion completely. But everything exploded when Neo realized a crucial detail, he could actually use his power outside of the matrix.

Heartfelt Story In "Me Before You" Review
I'm surprised to see that this movie was released in such a long time, considering how I still remember my experience seeing it after a long time because of the story it tells and the lessons shared. The movie was recommended to me long ago because I had seen a movie of the male lead.

Another reason I decided to see the movie was the plot I read, finding out that it's a romantic story. I'm still a lover for good love stories because I am learning about love and appreciate the power of real love from God and hoping to experience it from the one I'll spend a lifetime with. That's by the way, I liked this movie's plot.

"Me Before You" was released in 2016 in the genre of epic and tragic romance starring Emilia Clarke as Lou Clark and Sam Claflin as Will Traynor. Lou Clark, a cheerful and seem to know everything about herself meets Will who have lost the will to live after a road accident took his freedom to do things by himself. As a caregiver with a weird sense of fashion, Clark slowly crashes into Will's world, changing each other.

I love the accent of Emilia, I was totally into how they both conversed especially after they understood that they loved each other. But I didn't like that their love seemed to be too unlikely, which is like actually everything love should be about. Still it was totally worth my time on it.

While I may have decided to see the movie because I wanted to see some good romance as the plot promises, the movie opened my eyes to a love that can be true and still not work out for a happy ending or go on for a lifetime. I honestly couldn't stop hoping through out the story that the male lead would make it through somehow.

It's a story that delivers in magical on-screen chemistry and beautiful performances, it was so good that it almost moved me to tears at some point. It's not the type you'd love the ending but it's an end of a story that makes sense to the story that had been told. And then, there is the lesson learned from being a light to a darkness.

I would recommend the movie if you're yet to see it but be ready to feel a lot of emotions just after the light side of the story, when the female lead was playful and cheerful to an angry crippled man. Let me know what you think about it.

Well, we are all well aware—and were around a couple of years ago—when a series arrived that defined a new generation of Netflix shows, yet also evoked nostalgia for those of us who grew up with an animated series full of adventure and life lessons. I still remember when this series became a massive hit; it made me reflect on how different the reaction was compared to that 2010 movie—the one many people still prefer to ignore and forget. Even so, it is worth mentioning; the show has been very well received, and having finished it just last night, I naturally couldn't resist sharing my thoughts with you all.

Bueno, todos somos conscientes y estuvimos presentes hace un par de años cuando llegó una serie que marcó una nueva generación en series para Netflix, pero que al igual nos trajo nostalgia a nosotros, quienes crecimos con una serie animada llena de aventuras y enseñanzas. Aún recuerdo cuando esta serie se hizo demasiado popular; me hizo considerar lo diferente que fue la reacción en comparación con aquella película del 2010 que hasta ahora muchos prefieren ignorar y no recordar. Aun así, está aquí en mención; sí tiene una recepción sumamente aceptable y yo, que la terminé de ver anoche, obvio no me iba a quedar con las ganas de compartir mi opinión con ustedes.

It really cannot be dragged out any further; given how long productions take these days, a series featuring young characters is difficult to sustain, as physical changes eventually become apparent that no longer align with the story being told. Actualmente, esta cuenta con dos temporadas, solamente faltando una para darle fin a este ciclo. Realmente, esto no se puede alargar más, pues con lo tardías que son las producciones hoy en día, una serie con personajes jóvenes es difícil de mantener porque a la larga se van notando diferencias que no van a ir acorde a la historia que quieren contar. Yo de una capté el cambio de los actores, quienes en su mayoría cambiaron un poco, siendo más notable la adolescencia en cada uno de ellos. Mas sin embargo, supieron mantener intactas sus esencias; sigue siendo muy fascinante de ver, notándose la alta calidad que estos manejan. Finally, I have to mention that one of the things I enjoyed most was the creation of all the fantastical creatures, as well as the cast and the masterful precision with which all the characters were portrayed. I decided to watch the whole series because I’d been seeing a lot of videos about trivia from the Avatar world on Facebook lately, so I looked it up right away. Not A Stranger (2026) Review
If you enjoy Turkish dramas with real suspense, this one will hold your attention from start to finish. Netflix just released it, and it is already making waves.

The story follows Funda, a painter who wanted to return to her career after having her baby. Needing help at home, she employed a nanny, Nazlı, to assist with the baby so she could focus on her work again.

At first, everything looked perfect. Nazlı was competent, warm, and clearly good at her job. But that was exactly where the trouble began. The more the family relied on her, the deeper she worked her way into their lives. Before long, she had become the one everything in the house seemed to revolve around the baby, and eventually, even Funda's husband.

There was no violence or supernatural element driving the fear in this series. The tension came from how close everything felt to real life. A nanny occupies a unique position in a home close enough to know your routines, your weaknesses, even the cracks in your marriage, yet still someone you barely know. It was this closeness the series used to build unease, gradually, until you could no longer be sure who to trust in that house.

Elçin Sangu, known mostly for romantic roles, proved she could handle something different here, she played a woman slowly losing control of her own home, and she did it convincingly. Melis Sezen and Ozan Dolunay also delivered strong performances, and the director, Mert Baykal, did not rush the story. He allowed the tension to build steadily, the way real-life situations often do.

The series has 8 episodes in total, and by the end, what I loved was how ordinary the whole situation was. Many families do exactly what Funda did, bring someone they barely know close to their child. That is simply how life works sometimes.

If you enjoy slow-building, psychological suspense rather than jump-scare thrillers, this series is a solid choice. It earns its TV-MA rating through genuine tension rather than shock value.

Bitch X Rich is one of those Korean school dramas that do takes the usual rich versus poor setup and adds a murder mystery on top, and somehow it actually works, this is a story that follows Kim Hye-in, a girl from a poor background, the type of student who has to fight for every single opportunity while her classmates are out here living lives she can only imagine, her whole world flips upside down after she witnesses something horrifying, a student getting pushed off the rooftop at a prestigious school, now, in most dramas, being a witness to something like that would just mean trouble, statements, police involvement, the usual....

But this show takes it in a completely different direction. Instead of just reporting what she saw, Hye-in ends up being offered a full scholarship to Cheongdam International High School, this elite institution built for the seriously wealthy, basically as a way to keep her quiet.

Picture this, a girl who has never had access to that kind of privilege suddenly finds herself walking the halls of a school where everybody around her comes from money she can not even fathom that alone would be enough tension for an entire series, adjusting to a world that was never built for people like her, but then she meets Baek Jena, and this is where things get really interesting, Jena is not just some random rich mean girl, she is a full chaebol heiress, the most powerful and feared student at the entire school.... and guess what, she also happens to be the prime suspect in the exact murder Hye-in witnessed.

So now you have these two girls, from completely opposite worlds, forced into each others orbit because of one horrifying secret that is hanging between them, and what follows is basically, a slow burning psychological war, the kind where nobody is fighting with their fists, they are fighting with information, manipulation, blackmail, shifting loyalties, all while trying to figure out who they can actually trust in a school built entirely on status and image, Hye-in has to walk this tightrope of trying to hold onto her scholarship, trying to survive socially in a place that clearly does not want her there at ll, all while quietly chasing the truth about what really happened on that rooftop, meanwhile, Jena is dealing with her own pressure, trying to protect her reputation and her family name while this poor scholarship girl keeps getting closer and closer to something she would rather keep buried...

And just when you think you have settled into the rhythm of their rivalry, season two then throws in a whole new death, then, also shaking up the already fragile hierarchy, at the school all over again, new characters get introduced, old loyalties get tested, and the power dynamics between Hye-in and Jena keep shifting in ways that keep you on your toes...

What I find compelling about this whole setup is how it uses the murder mystery as a lens to examine something much bigger, this idea of class division and how money can literally decide who gets protected and who gets sacrificed, Hye-in is not just fighting to prove her innocence or find a killer, she is fighting an entire system that was built to keep girls like her in their place, silent and grateful for whatever scraps of opportunity they are handed, this is definitely not your typical school drama.

Film Review: Margin Call (2011)
**

Certain historical events—despite their epochal, far-reaching consequences—present peculiar challenges to filmmakers. The 2008 collapse of Wall Street and the subsequent global financial crisis, which in many ways laid the groundwork for much of the trouble our world finds itself in today, falls squarely into this category. The mechanisms of financial catastrophe are abstract, the villains often wear expensive suits rather than twirl moustaches, and the victims are dispersed across continents rather than gathered in one convenient location. Small wonder, then, that most attempts to dramatise this meltdown for mainstream audiences have fallen flat. Adam McKay's 2015 film The Big Short stands as the notable exception—a rare success that managed to make collateralised debt obligations somehow entertaining. Yet amongst the also-rans, J.C. Chandor's 2011 drama Margin Call deserves attention as one of the more interesting efforts, even if it ultimately proves somewhat underwhelming.

Chandor, making his feature directorial debut, also penned the screenplay. His inspiration came from personal experience—an abortive stint in New York's real estate industry and his family background as the son of an investment banker. This insider perspective lends the film an authenticity that many Wall Street dramas lack, though one might question whether familiarity breeds a certain unwillingness to cast a sufficiently critical eye over the proceedings.

The narrative unfolds over twenty-four hours in 2008, presumably shortly before the major crash. The setting is an unnamed investment bank—widely interpreted as a fictional composite of Goldman Sachs and Lehman Brothers. The day begins badly for most employees: management has decided to conduct a massive purge of the workforce. Among those handed their walking papers is Eric Dale (Stanley Tucci), head of risk management. In a moment of exquisite dramatic irony, he is told to clear his desk and leave the building precisely when he has stumbled upon something important. Before departing, he cryptically directs his young subordinate Peter Sullivan (Zachary Quinto) to examine the matter further.

Sullivan does precisely that, and what he discovers is deeply troubling. The historical models the firm has relied upon for trading are fundamentally flawed; the assets are catastrophically over-leveraged, and a wrong market move could bankrupt the company overnight. Sullivan passes his concerns up the chain to Will Emerson (Paul Bettany), head of credit trading, who in turn contacts his superior Sam Rogers (Kevin Spacey). Chief risk management officer Jared Cohen (Simon Baker) convenes an emergency night-time meeting whilst simultaneously scrambling to bring Eric Dale back to the office—if only to confirm Sullivan's alarming findings. The gathering is joined by CEO John Tuld (Jeremy Irons), who approves Cohen's desperate plan to save the company through a fire sale of its toxic products. Rogers disagrees with this course of action, arguing that it would destroy both the company's reputation and that of every trader involved.

What makes Margin Call particularly impressive is how it was made. Produced on a relatively modest budget, the film bears all the hallmarks of independent cinema—a quality that endeared it to critics. Its premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival came when memories of the crash remained fresh and American public sentiment towards Wall Street was still decidedly hostile. This timing guaranteed a warm reception, and the film indeed turned a decent profit at the box office, no small feat for a talk-heavy drama about financial instruments.

The cast is equally noteworthy. Chandor assembled an impressive ensemble including two Oscar winners—Kevin Spacey and Jeremy Irons. Zachary Quinto, who plays the wide-eyed Sullivan, also served as one of the film's producers, presumably using his Star Trek clout to help get the project off the ground.

It is the work of these actors, portraying a diverse set of characters, that keeps the film afloat. Irons is magnificent as the ruthless corporate overlord, delivering his exposition-heavy dialogue with a predator's charm. Spacey does more than solid work as an executive wrestling with his conscience, though one wonders how much of this performance now carries unintended baggage. Quinto is perfectly serviceable as the young yuppie who spends the film wondering whether he'll still have a job in twenty-four hours—a fear that ultimately proves justified. Paul Bettany shines as their immediate superior, and in a brief but candid interlude away from the office conference rooms, he delivers the film's most honest moment: admitting that even a seven-figure yearly salary is not quite what it is cracked up to be.

Yet for all this insight, the audience is subjected to a plot that consists mainly of business discussions. The occasional profanity and raised voice are meant to pass for drama. Rogers's frustration over the death of his pet dog seems like a character trait added merely to provide some extra human dimension—and an excuse for the melodramatic epilogue that closes the film. The same criticism applies to the subplot involving the search for Eric Dale, which is supposed to generate suspense but ultimately fizzles into nothing, with the ex-executive simply agreeing to take another Faustian bargain.

There are very few surprises in the film, even for those somehow unaware of how Wall Street's story ended in 2008. The characters explain, extensively and sometimes repetitively, what is happening with mortgage-backed securities and leveraged positions. They outline scenarios whereby they might save the firm at the expense of their unfortunate employees, naive customers who purchase worthless financial products, and ultimately a world thrown into decades of poverty and geopolitical tensions.

Then there is the rather thorny issue of the film attempting to empathise with Wall Street players who, even when losing their jobs, can expect lives well beyond the means of the majority of 2008 crisis victims. The film never quite resolves this tension—whether it wants us to pity these masters of the universe or revile them.

Chandor directs with competence, extracting fine performances from his cast and maintaining tension despite the static setting. But the general impression left by Margin Call is slightly underwhelming. It is a film that knows the world it depicts intimately but cannot quite decide what it wants to say about it. In the end, it is a polished, well-acted curiosity—worth watching for the performances, particularly Irons's scene-stealing turn, but unlikely to linger in the memory as either definitive document or compelling drama.

🤖 Iron Man 2 (2010) – Being Iron Man Has a Price
Iron Man 2 isn't as strong as the first movie for me, but I still have a lot of fun with it. What I like most is seeing the consequences of Tony revealing his identity. Everyone wants his technology, his health is deteriorating, and behind all that confidence we see a man who knows he might be running out of time.

Iron Man 2 no me parece tan sólida como la primera película, pero todavía me divierte mucho. Lo que más me gusta es ver las consecuencias de que Tony revelara su identidad. Todos quieren su tecnología, su salud se está deteriorando y detrás de toda esa seguridad vemos a un hombre que sabe que quizá se le está acabando el tiempo.

The introduction of Black Widow is another reason I enjoy this movie. Scarlett Johansson doesn't have a huge role yet, but Natasha immediately feels different from everyone around Tony. Knowing how important she eventually becomes in the MCU makes these first scenes even more enjoyable now.

La introducción de Black Widow es otra razón por la que disfruto esta película. Scarlett Johansson todavía no tiene un papel enorme, pero Natasha inmediatamente se siente diferente a todos los que rodean a Tony. And I really like the evolution of Rhodey. Seeing him finally put on the armor and become War Machine gives us one of the most entertaining relationships in the movie. The story tries to do too many things at once, but Tony and Rhodey fighting together makes the final act worth it for me.

Y me gusta mucho la evolución de Rhodey. Verlo finalmente ponerse la armadura y convertirse en War Machine nos da una de las relaciones más entretenidas de la película. Iron Man 2 has too many subplots and a villain that could have been better developed, but Robert Downey Jr.'s charisma carries it. It's not one of my favorite MCU movies, although it's an entertaining chapter that expands the universe in important ways.

My Take On What If... Series.
This is how I sat down and went through all three seasons of Marvel's What If...?, and I have thoughts, plenty of them.

For the people who haven't touched this one, the whole concept is simple but genius, every episode takes a major moment from the MCU we already know and completely flips it, showing us how differently things could have gone with just one small change, It is narrated by this cosmic being called The Watcher, voiced by Jeffrey Wright, who basically exists to observe every possible timeline without interfering, until, well, that promise doesn't exactly hold up as the seasons go on.

Season one is where they really set the tone, and honestly it is still my favorite batch of episodes, you get things like Peggy Carter becoming the Super Soldier instead of Steve Rogers, T'Challa getting abducted by the Ravagers instead of Peter Quill and becoming this smooth, diplomatic version of Star Lord, and one where basically all the usual Avengers candidates start getting killed off one by one, forcing Nick Fury to scramble for a team from scratch, then there's the zombie episode, which honestly might be one of the darkest, most unhinged things Marvel has ever put out, no exaggeration, and the season finale, where the Watcher actually breaks his own rule and starts pulling heroes from different universes together to fight Ultron, that is when you realize this show isn't just going to stay a cute "what if" gimmick, it is going to have actual consequences.

Season two took a bit to find its footing for me, it still had strong episodes, Nebula joining the Nova Corps was fun, and the one where Peter Quill and a young Ego attack earth forcing Howard Stark and Peggy Carter to team up was a nice throwback, but some episodes in this batch felt like they were reaching a little, like they were trying to hit a certain number of episodes rather than every single idea being a must tell story, it didn't ruin the season for me, but it definitely didn't hit as hard as season one did emotionally or narratively.

Then season three came in acting like the true final chapter of this whole trilogy, and it leaned into that heavily. Storm showing up wielding Mjolnir alone had people talking before the season even dropped.... This season felt more connected overall, like they were finally building toward wrapping up the Watcher's arc properly instead of just doing random standalone stories, and knowing this was intentionally meant to close out the show as the completion of a trilogy made watching it hit a little different, there is a sense of finality running through it that season two didn't really have.

What I really respect about the whole series is how it doesn't just play it safe with alternate universes for the fun of it, some episodes are genuinely emotionally heavy, some are just pure fun and chaos, and some completely reshape how you look at characters you thought you already understood, Killmonger rescuing Tony Stark instead of him going through his usual origin story is such a good example, small change, massive ripple effect on everything that follows.

The animation style also deserves credit, it is got this distinct look that separates it from live action MCU stuff while still feeling connected to that universe, and the fact that so many of the original actors came back to voice their characters adds this weird sense of authenticity, even in an animated multiverse story, it still feels like canon adjacent MCU material instead of some random spinoff nobody asked for.

So tbh , not every episode across all 26 is a home run, some clearly land harder than others, and season two in particular has a bit of filler energy at times, but overall, as a full package, three seasons in, this show does something most Marvel projects don't even attempt, it takes risks with characters we already know and isn't afraid to let things go completely off the rails.

if you have never given What If...? a real chance, all three seasons together make for one of the more creative corners of the whole MCU, It's messy in alot of places, but it is ambitious messy, and that's worth respecting.
