"What Dreams May Come" tells a story centered on a plot that highlights several themes that cause us great anxiety in our lives: death, eternal life, and a love capable of overcoming all existing barriers. This brief premise forms the basis of the plot, in which Chris Nielsen (Robin Williams) meets a beautiful woman named Annie (Annabella Sciorra), with whom he forms a very special bond that leads them to share their lives. Over time, they have two children, and what seems to be unfolding as a beautiful story of love and family suddenly turns into a true nightmare. Their children die in an accident, and the pain of such a tragedy pushes Annie to her limit, to the point where she believes her marriage must also come to an end.

The film jumps forward in time, and now we see Chris and Annie together, each going about their work and trying to move on despite a wound that never stops hurting. That’s when everything comes crashing down again for Annie upon learning that her husband Chris has died in a highway accident, and from this point on, the film seems to unfold on two levels: the real world, where Annie is now completely alone, and another where Chris and others go after they die. At first, Chris wants to stay with his wife to support and help her, but it’s all in vain, and so he resigns himself to his reality: he’s dead. But things aren’t all that bad when Chris realizes he’s now in a special place—one that seems to have been built on his fondest memories of the life he once enjoyed alongside his family.

La película da un salto en el tiempo y ahora vemos a Chris y Annie juntos, cada quien en su trabajo y tratando de seguir adelante a pesar de una herida que no deja de doler. Es entonces cuando para Annie todo vuelve a derrumbarse al enterarse de que su esposo Chris muere en un accidente en la autopista y desde aquí la película parece mostrarse en dos planos, en el mundo real donde ahora Annie ha quedado totalmente sola, y otro en donde Chris y otros más van después de morir. Al principio Chris desea quedarse con su esposa para apoyarla y ayudarla pero todo es en vano, y por lo tanto este hombre se resigna a su realidad: está muerto. Pero no todo llega a ser tan malo cuando Chris se da cuenta que ahora está en un lugar especial, uno que parece haberse construido en base a sus mejores recuerdos de la vida que alguna vez disfrutó al lado de su familia.

Chris’s children are also in that place, although at first they aren’t shown in their true form but rather appear with the physical characteristics of people who became important to him or caught his attention at some point in his life. Of his two children, the connection with his daughter Marie seems to be stronger and closer, and the film illustrates this through a very beautiful scene of their reunion. Speaking of connections, Chris never fails to sense the pain and sadness his wife is going through until one day he learns of a tragedy: his wife has taken her own life. At first, this seems acceptable to Chris, since, after all, his wife would be reunited with him and their children, but the reality is that because she deliberately took her own life, she belongs in another place—a dark and empty place that is the complete opposite of where her family is.

Hablando de conexiones, Chris no deja de percibir el dolor y la tristeza que su esposa está viviendo hasta que cierto día se entera de algo trágico: su esposa se ha quitado la vida. Esto al principio le parece aceptable a Chris ya que al fin y al cabo su esposa se reuniría con él y con sus hijos, pero el detalle es que por ella quitarse la vida deliberadamente le corresponde estar en otro lugar, un lugar oscuro y vacío totalmente opuesto a donde está su familia.

It is here that Chris, driven by his love for Annie, decides to defy all odds to rescue her, and after a long journey, he unexpectedly reaches her. Everything seems to indicate that there is nothing to be done, and so Chris decides to stay by his wife’s side, even if it’s in the worst place imaginable. What will the true ending be? The film leaves the door open and presents a scenario where we sense that love transcends everything and is capable of achieving even what seems impossible to us. What Chris and Annie had hoped for in their lives, they finally achieved—but in a different setting, a kind of paradise created to turn dreams into a beautiful reality.

"What Dreams May Come" is a movie that, in my opinion, draws on those ideas and philosophies that place love above all else. Living forever and being in a place that—based on your beliefs—becomes the perfect home you once dreamed of is something the movie portrays through various nuances that also weave into the story of a family with a deep emotional bond—a family that, despite tragedies, has managed, so to speak, reach their longed-for destination—albeit via a path that began full of sadness and pain but ultimately highlighted the greatest of all emotions: love.

Es aquí donde Chris en base al amor que siente por Annie decide ir en contra de todo a fin de rescatarla y luego de una larga travesía de manera inesperada llega hasta ella. Todo parece indicar que no hay nada por hacer, y por eso Chris decide quedarse al lado de su esposa así sea en el peor lugar que pueda existir. ¿Cuál llegará a ser el verdadero final? La película nos deja una puerta abierta y un escenario donde se percibe que el amor está por encima de todo y que es capaz de lograr hasta lo que nos parece imposible. Lo que Chris y Annie habían pensado tener en su vida por fin lo lograron pero en un escenario distinto, una especie de paraíso creado para hacer de los sueños una hermosa realidad.

"What dreams may come" es una película que en mi opinión apela a esos razonamientos e ideologías que destacan el amor por encima de todo. El vivir para siempre y estar en un lugar que en base a lo que crees se convierte en el hogar perfecto que una vez soñaste es algo que la película muestra bajo varios matices que también se unen a la historia de una familia con una gran conexión sentimental y que pese a las tragedias han podido, por así decirlo, llegar a su anhelado destino aunque por un camino que empezó lleno de tristeza y dolor para terminar resaltando el sentimiento más grande como lo es el amor.

Hello, film lovers!

Zombies are easily one of my favourite horror subgenres, and if there’s a film featuring zombies that’s even remotely decent, I’ll be there. My love of zombies began as a child, watching the Resident Evil films starring Alice (Milla Jovovich) and the CGI-animated versions that were more closely tied to the games. So when I saw the trailer for Resident Evil: Night Zero, I just thought: “I’ve got to see this.”

This new instalment isn’t a continuation of the Alice saga, it has nothing to do with the dreadful Welcome to Raccoon City, and it doesn’t adapt the classic video game protagonists. It is, in my view, what would happen to a very unlucky random person who, through luck and cunning, manages to make it to the end of the film.

The film centres on Bryan, a courier delivering human organs for transplants, who – for a few banknotes and to avoid an awkward conversation with his partner – decides to accept one last delivery of what he keeps telling himself is ‘someone’s hope’ to Raccoon City Hospital. And what begins with a bad omen – snow and a woman who’s been run over – turns into what fans of the genre call ‘survival horror’.

Instead of the massive action, over-the-top combat and superhuman-seeming characters we’d become accustomed to in previous instalments of Resident Evil, this film returns to certain core elements of the game. It shows us the reactions, vulnerability, limited expertise with weapons, scarce ammunition and that ‘I’m screwed’ feeling that any ordinary person would have upon realising the world has gone to the dogs thanks to a corporation that decided to mess about with some test tubes. Bryan isn’t an expert with weapons; he complains. If he can, he just runs, flees and copes with the situation as best he can, but he knows that the package he’s carrying could make a difference, so he treats it as if it were his own child and will make the delivery because that’s his job – which shows that, despite his fear, Bryan’s sense of ‘doing the right thing’ is stronger. What’s more, it’s clear that, long before the zombies, he felt a certain pride and sense of responsibility towards his job; in short, he’s a decent bloke who strives to do the right thing and, when it’s all over, just go home.

That’s partly where the film’s concept comes from: showing how an ordinary person reacts to—well, horrific zombies with tentacles chasing you— but at the same time making you feel as if you were playing the game – that is to say, there were literally several camera shots that mimic the angles of a video game, making it seem as though you were controlling the weapons with the controls, and the way he acquires them closely resembles weapon collection in a video game, whilst the bit with the padlocks really did make me laugh.

And the zombies really were grotesque; they looked like misshapen masses of vomit made up of human body parts that also mutate, playing on the idea of ‘bodily horror’. What’s more, no matter how much I shot at several of them, they’d ‘come back to life’ even uglier than before. There was one that vomited acid, which was a nice touch.

Despite being a zombie film, Bryan made me laugh a lot, especially when he was complaining, swearing and muttering under his breath as if grumbling about his night and what was happening to him, so at times he felt like a supporting character who’d almost been thrust into the lead role.

Many have complained that the classic characters don’t appear (basically saying it’s rubbish because Leon isn’t in it) and others that it’s a good film, but not a good adaptation. And I just think: Goodness, sometimes people go too far with their criticism; the arguments are always the same and it all boils down to the director not doing a ‘copy and paste’. And whilst who wouldn’t want to see a good adaptation of their favourite characters, this film offers us a fresh perspective and a different kind of experience – plus, for goodness’ sake, I’ve read that it’s been a box-office hit, which paves the way for further instalments. In conclusion, it offers a different perspective from what we’ve seen before, moving away from a poor rehash to make a fresh start, so whilst Bryan is struggling with his instalment, Leon, Claire or Jill might well be out there somewhere.

Los zombis pueden ser fácilmente uno de mis subgéneros del terror favoritos y, si hay una película donde hay zombis que sea medianamente decente, ahí estaré. Mi gusto por los zombis empezó de niña viendo las películas de Resident Evil protagonizadas por Alice (Milla Jovovich) y las versiones animadas en CGI más conectadas con los juegos. Por lo que cuando vi el tráiler de Resident Evil: Noche cero, solo pensé: “Toca verla”

Esta nueva entrega no es continuación de la saga de Alice, no tiene nada que ver con el horrible “Bienvenidos a Raccoon City” y no adapta a los protagonistas clásicos de los videojuegos. Es, desde mi punto de vista, lo que le pasaría a una persona random muy desafortunada que con suerte y astucia llega al final de la cinta.

Esta película tiene por protagonista a Bryan, un repartidor de órganos humanos para trasplantes, quien por unos cuantos billetes y el evitar una conversación incómoda con su pareja decide aceptar una última entrega de lo que él se repite que es “la esperanza de alguien” al Hospital de Raccoon City. Y lo que empieza con mala señal, nieve y una mujer atropellada, se convierte en lo que los fans del género llamamos “survival horror” o “terror de supervivencia”.

En vez de la acción masiva, combates exagerados y personajes que parecen superhumanos a los que ya nos tenían acostumbrados con entregas anteriores de Resident Evil, este recupera ciertas bases del juego. Nos muestra las reacciones, vulnerabilidad, escasa experticia en armas, contada munición y el “estoy jodido” que tendría una persona cualquiera que se da cuenta de que el mundo se fue al excusado gracias a una corporación que decidió jugar con unos tubitos de ensayo. Bryan no es experto en armas, se queja; si puede, solo corre, huye y se toma la situación lo mejor que puede, pero sabe que el paquete que lleva puede cambiar algo, así que lo trata como si fuera un hijo y hará la entrega porque ese es su trabajo, lo que demuestra que, a pesar del miedo, el sentido de “hacer el bien” de Bryan es mayor. Además de que se nota que, mucho antes de los zombis, sentía cierto orgullo y responsabilidad con su trabajo, en conclusión, es un buen tipo que lucha por hacer el bien y al terminar irse a casa.

De ahí en parte surge la idea de la película, mostrar el actuar de una persona común y corriente ante bueno, zombis horribles con tentáculos que te persiguen, pero a la misma vez hacerte sentir como si jugaras el juego, es decir, literalmente hubo varios planos de cámara que imitan los ángulos de un videojuego, que hacen parecer como si tú con los controles manejaras la armas, y el como la consigue, imita mucho una recolección de armas de un videojuego y el tema con los candados sí que me hizo reír.

Y los zombis sí que eran grotescos, parecían masas deformes de un vómito de partes humanas que además mutan, jugando con el “terror corporal”, además de que, a varios, por más que les dispare, “reviven” más feos que antes. Había uno que vomitaba ácido, lo que fue un buen detalle.

A pesar de ser una película de zombis, Bryan me hizo reír mucho, sobre todo cuando se quejaba, insultaba y parloteaba entre dientes como quejándose de su noche y de lo que le pasaba, por lo que en momentos se sentía como un personaje secundario que fue casi que empujado al rol de protagonista.

Muchos se han quejado de que no aparecen los personajes clásicos (básicamente diciendo que es mala porque no aparece Leon) y otros que es buena película, pero no una buena adaptación. Y yo solo pienso: Dios, a veces la gente se pasa siendo muy crítica; los argumentos son los mismos y todo se basa en porque el director no hizo un “copia y pega”. Y aunque a quién no le gustaría ver una buena adaptación de sus personajes favoritos, esta película nos da una visión nueva y otro tipo de experiencia, además que por dios, he leído que ha sido un éxito en taquilla lo que da espacio a nuevas entregas. En conclusión, es un punto de vista distinto de lo que se ha venido manejando, alejándose de la mala réplica para dar con un buen inicio, así que mientras Bryan está sufriendo con su entrega, puede que Leon, Claire o Jill anden por ahí.

Tonight I present a review based on one of The Beatles' most memorable and formidable hits, a song that broke several music records in its time, a song that had a great cultural impact in many countries around the world, practically becoming an icon for them. I am pleased to present to you the song "Hey Jude."

For me, this song has several bars and melodies that make it unique. It's a very long song, lasting more than 7 minutes, and was recorded at the fledgling Apple Records recording studios and credited to Lennon McCartney. Paul stated years later that the lyrics were written to console Julian Lennon, John's son, during his divorce at that time.

This song was recorded between July and August of 1968, and it had a promotional video (which I've included in this review). This video shows the four Beatles being introduced by David Frost. Several shots were taken from his television program, edited together, and released as the video. In it, we can hear an orchestra, or part of one, and about halfway through the video and the performance, the audience from that program joins in on the famous chorus: "Na na na na na ra na na nara na na Hey Jude."

Three facts about this song impressed and caught my attention. The first is that it was certified gold at the time for its high sales, but it was certified platinum almost 30 years later. Wow, only they could achieve such a feat!

The other thing that caught my attention is that a few years ago I learned that the single "Hey Jude," with "Revolution" on the B-side, was released in a sleeve. The sleeve was plain, without any printing or photographs, unlike Capitol Records, which always released singles with printed photos. Instead, Hey Jude opted for a white sleeve, only showing the front of the single with an apple (the Apple logo), and on the B-side, the same apple cut in half. I loved that detail.

And the third thing that struck me as odd and surprising was that they invited the orchestra members to clap and sing the chorus. Everyone agreed, accepting double their pay for that song, except for one, hahaha, who said, "I won't participate in that chorus or clap along to such an annoying and complicated song to play!" Hahaha. How stubborn! He didn't even get to tell his children, grandchildren, or anyone else that he lent his voice to a Beatles song... (What can I say?).

The song featured all four Beatles, part of the orchestra hired by George Martin, and members of the audience. The instruments included violins, violas, cellos, flutes, bassoons, clarinets, double bass, trumpets, and trombones—a true work of art that fused popular music with classical and academic music. I can also tell you that it was the first single over seven minutes long to be played on the radio and reach number one on the Billboard charts. Not only them...

Animated movies have a special appeal that we’ve always loved as kids because of the way they’re crafted—even years later, when they’re re-aired, they feel truly special, as they bring back all those memories. That’s exactly what happens with Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers. As an animated film that premiered on Disney, it brings back the story of the two little detectives many of us knew from TV, and now it’s a film full of fun, humor, and plenty of action.

The movie introduces us to Chip and Chop, a great duo; however, life has led them down different paths—Chip is now a salesman, and Chop is still active—which is really entertaining, since we can relate to them because of the way they do things. Everything changes when they decide to take on a new investigation, and this is where the movie gets really entertaining, leaving us wondering: Will they be recognized again? Will they still be the best? And many other things happen, since these two friends can never sit still.

Las películas animadas cuenta con una historia que uno de niño siempre las quizo por la manera como están desarrolladas y pueden pasar años, y cuando vuelven a repetirlas son algo muy especial, ya que nos llegan todos esos recuerdos y eso pasa con Chip y Chop: Los guardianes rescatadores. Siendo una película animada que se estrenó en Disney que reviví la historia de los dos pequeños detectives que muchos conocimos en la televisión, donde ahora es una apuesta llena de diversión, humor y mucha acción.

La película nos presenta a Chip y Chop, siendo un gran dúo, sin embargo, la vida los ha llevado a tomar caminos diferentes, donde Chip es vendedor y Chop sigue activo, siendo algo muy divertido, puesto que nos podemos identificar con ellos por la manera como hacen las cosas. Todo cambia cuando deciden tomar una nueva investigación y es aquí donde la película se vuelve divertida y nos lleva a preguntarnos ¿Podrán ser reconocidos nuevamente? ¿Seguirán siendo los mejores? Y muchas otras cosas que pasan, puesto que son dos amigos que nunca pueden estar quietos.

One of the things that makes the movie fun and entertaining is that the story moves along without feeling forced; it also draws on other elements from movies, TV shows, and characters that are part of popular culture, creating a world full of adventure and stories of friendship—all while keeping the relationship between Chip and Chop front and center to help resolve everything.

Every character in the movie has a role and a responsibility to help move the story forward, as we see characters created using traditional animation, cartoons, and various other styles all living together in the same city. This mix sets it apart from other animated films out there. Plus, the humor here changes everything—with jokes of all kinds—making it a movie perfectly suited for all ages.

Una de las cosas que hace que la película sea divertida y entretenida es que todo avanza sin tener que todo avanza, además aprovecha otros elementos películas, series y personajes que forman parte de la cultura popular, logrando así que sea un mundo lleno de aventura y muchas historia de amistad, sin dejar a un lado la relación entre Chip y Chop para así poder resolver todo.

Cada personaje de la película tiene un papel y una responsabilidad para así poder conseguir que la historia avance, ya que podemos encontrar personajes con animación tradicional, dibujos y diferentes estilos conviviendo en la misma ciudad. Esa mezcla permite que sea algo distinto de las demás películas de animación que pueden existir. Además, aquí el humor hace que todo cambie, ya qué hay bromas de distintos tipos y eso puede llegar a que sea una película perfectamente para todas las edades.

I liked this movie because it’s something completely different, yet it doesn’t lose the essence of the animation. Plus, it’s fun to laugh at all of Chip and Chop’s adventures, so the film ends up being good without repeating the formula of the original series—adding humor, mystery, and enough personality to stand out among the many productions that try to bring back characters from our childhood. So if you’re looking for a movie full of surprises, Chip and Chop: The Rescue Guardians is a great choice for you.

Me gusto esta película, ya que es algo totalmente distinto, pero sin perder la esencia de la animación, además reírse de todas esas aventuras de Chip y Chop, así que la producción termina siendo buena sin repetir la fórmula de la serie original, agregándole humor, misterio y suficiente personalidad como para destacar entre muchas producciones que intentan recuperar personajes de nuestra infancia. Por eso si buscas una película llena de sorpresas, Chip y Chop: Los guardianes rescatadores es una buena opción para ti.

Extraterrestrial (2014): Mind-Blowing and Cosmic. The seventh art is so diverse and complex that through it we can enjoy every possible genre. However, many people—myself included—believe that for a movie to be considered good, it must feature big-name actors and high-caliber directors; naturally, these elements make it more appealing to audiences. But from my point of view—and this is my personal opinion—a good movie must have an engaging and fantastic plot to achieve that goal; it doesn’t matter if it’s low-budget or directed by an average filmmaker—what matters is that it provides great entertainment. That’s exactly what happened to me with the 2014 film Extraterrestrial, directed by Colin Minihan.

Now, in my search for movies to enjoy, this one had popped up several times, and I hadn’t given it a chance—until I finally decided to. I had my doubts, and honestly, I was wrong, because it turned out to be very interesting. The plot combines science fiction, action, drama, and suspense, and is packed with well-developed scenes. It’s true—it’s a low-budget film and might go unnoticed, but these are the hidden gems that are truly entertaining. The truth is, it’s a psychological experience that creates an inexplicable labyrinth in our minds; it takes us into the unknown, and because it’s something we don’t understand, it instills in us that fear and dread as we search for explanations. On top of that, it also shows us everything human beings are capable of doing to prevent what happened from becoming public knowledge.

Without a doubt, it’s a film that unfolds gradually and seeps into our minds, inviting us to consider that we aren’t far from a possible reality. It invites us to think that, after all, we aren’t alone and that the worst could happen just a stone’s throw from our home. Colin Minihan achieves all of this by developing a story set in total isolation—something he’s accustomed to doing—and, as a result, he ultimately draws the viewer fully into the story. His specialty is creating atmospheres that plunge his actors into a total existential nightmare; he truly is a genius, and he’s proven it here. Remember, all of this is just my personal opinion—to each their own—and Extraterrestrial has been my favorite.

The plot features characters who have appeared in fairly well-known movies and TV series; among them is the famous and seasoned Michael Ironside in the role of Travis. There are other characters; however, for me—and you can decide for yourselves—the weight of the story rests on Brittany Allen, who plays the strong-willed April, and Freddie Stroma as Kyle. The two make a great duo; there’s chemistry between them, and their actions feel very believable. You can sense their joy and love when the moment calls for it, but at the same time, those feelings shift dramatically in moments of crisis. They handle that transition very well and truly bring their characters to life; lies, secrets, tensions, fears, and strength—it all unfolds organically.

It all begins with a desperate woman running in the middle of the night in the rain. She arrives at a store, and the manager—even though he can see how distraught she is—shockingly closes the store and refuses to let her in. As best she can, the woman runs to a phone booth to keep calling for help, when suddenly a very bright white light strikes the booth, and it vanishes. The store manager comes out of the store, surprised and distressed; the phone booth crashes violently from the sky, but there’s no sign of the woman. What happened? We don’t know. The plot continues with April and Kyle, who decide to spend a weekend away from everyone, including April’s family. Kyle’s intentions are romantic, but April has something to say, and this seems like the right moment.

But since Kyle has other plans, he invites some friends over—a situation that doesn’t sit well with April, and she gets a little upset. Now, what could have been a weekend of confessions and some heartache over a secret that was bound to come to light turns into what they—and we—believe will be a relaxing vacation. Because in the town they’re heading to, some very strange things are happening: animals are dying for no apparent reason, people are disappearing without a trace, and from that moment on, the plot becomes increasingly tense and mysterious as they arrive at a cabin that’s completely isolated from everything and everyone.

Back at the cabin late at night, the kids are partying; suddenly, they spot what looks like a kite or something similar in the sky, which approaches and suddenly crashes near their cabin. As always, the human mind is so curious that everyone goes to check it out, and what they see there is completely baffling—they’re shocked, dazed, and start coming up with wild theories. The truth is that it seems to have been confirmed that we are not alone, and what follows will be utter terror that grips the characters; they are being pursued and hunted by something cosmic and supernatural. Will the characters be able to get out of this? Is what their eyes see real? Will they have the strength to face these creatures and survive? The truth is that tension, anguish, and despair will be ever-present; no one will be able to hide, no one will be able to escape—not even we are safe.

Lighting plays an important role during the action; we can go from a well-lit setting to one with dim, eerie lighting, right up to the sudden, distressing appearance of an intense red light signaling imminent danger. The same is true of the atmosphere and sound, which create that sense of total dread that seeps into every fiber of our being; there’s no escape in such a vast space, and that feeling intensifies with the sonic impact of the moment.

The film shows us that what’s happening in a small town could be a kind of experiment—just a small one—amidst larger events that might be brewing on an international scale. It’s a mind game that shatters what we thought we knew, and from my perspective, the film could easily have served as the basis for subsequent works. These are theories that will always be on the table, and they invite us to reflect on just how arrogant humanity can be in its quest to discover whether, besides us, there is something else in space that prevents us from continuing to believe we are the most powerful. It is definitely a message aimed at raising collective awareness.

As I said before, it’s a movie that doesn’t need a big budget to deliver great entertainment. Extraterrestrial (2014): Alucinante y Cósmica. El séptimo arte es tan variado y tan complejo, que a través de él podemos disfrutar de todos los géneros posibles. Sin embargo, muchos piensan y me incluyo; que para tener en frente una buena película, ésta debe integrar grandes y conocidos actores, así como directores de alto calibre; lógicamente que esos elementos le imprimen mayor interés al gusto de los espectadores. Pero desde mi punto de vista y esta es mi opinión particular, una buena película debe tener una trama atrayente y fantástica para lograr ese cometido; no importa que sea de bajo presupuesto, con directores en la media, lo importante es que genere alto entretenimiento. Así como me ha ocurrido con el filme Extraterrestrial del año 2014, dirigido por Colin Minihan.

Ahora; en mi búsqueda de películas para disfrutar, ésta me había aparecido varias veces y no le había dado la oportunidad, hasta que decidí hacerlo, tenía mis dudas y sinceramente estaba equivocado, porque resultó ser muy interesante. Una trama que lleva ciencia ficción, acción, drama, suspenso y está cargada de escenas bien desarolladas; es cierto, es de bajo presupuesto y puede pasar desapercibida, pero son filmes que están ocultos y realmente entretienen. Lo cierto, es que es una experiencia psicológica que crea en nuestra mente un laberinto inexplicable; es llevarnos a lo desconocido y como eso que desconocemos, crea en nosotros ese miedo y ese temor por la búsqueda de explicaciones. Además de ello; también nos muestra, todo lo que es capaz de hacer el ser humano, por evitar que lo ocurrido no salga de las fronteras.

Definitivamente; es una película que poco a poco avanza y se va metiendo en nuestra mente, invitándonos a pensar que no estamos lejos de una posible realidad. Nos invita a pensar que al fin de cuentas, no estamos solos y que a un paso de nuestra casa puede ocurrir lo peor. Todo esto lo logra Colin Minihan, al desarrollar una historia en total aislamiento, cosa que está acostumbrado a hacer; por lo que en definitiva, logra que el espectador se meta de lleno en la historia. Su especialidad, es crear ambientes que lleven a sus actores a una total pesadilla existencial; de verdad es un genio y aquí lo ha demostrado; recuerden, todo esto es mi opinión personal, cada quien con su gusto y Extraterrestrial ha sido el mío.

En la trama encontramos personajes que han participado en películas y series algo conocidas; entre ellos tenemos al afamado y aguerrido Michael Ironside en el papel de Travis. Existen otros personajes; sin embargo, para mí, el peso de la historia y eso ustedes lo podrán determinar, cae sobre Brittany Allen encarnando a la fuerte April y Freddie Stroma como Kyle. Ambos hacen un duo muy bueno, hay química y sus acciones son muy creíbles, se nota la alegría y el amor cuando hay que hacerlo; pero de igual manera, esos sentimientos cambian drásticamente en los momentos de apremio; esa transición la hacen muy bien y ciertamente encarnan sus personajes de buena manera; mentiras, secretos, tensiones, temores, miedos, fortaleza, todo se da de manera orgánica.

Todo esto inicia con una mujer desesperada corriendo en medio de la noche y bajo la lluvia. Llega a una tienda y el encargado, aun viendo la total angustia de la mujer, de forma chocante cierra el negocio y no la deja entrar. Como puede; la chica corre a una cabina telefónica para continuar pidiendo ayuda, de pronto una luz blanca muy fuerte impacta contra la cabina y esta desaparece. El encargado sale de la tienda sorprendido y angustiado; de forma violenta la cabina cae de los cielos, pero no hay rastro de la mujer; ¿Que ha pasado, no lo sabemos?. La trama continua presentando a April y a Kyle, quienes tienen la idea de pasar un fin de semana alejado de todos, en la mañana de la familia de April; la intención de Kyle es romántica, pero April tiene algo que decir y ese sería el momento adecuado.

Pero como Kyle tiene otras intenciones invita a unos amigos; situación que no es del agrado de April y ella se molesta un poco. Ahora; lo que podría ser un fin de semana de confesión y algo de dolor por un secreto que debía salir a la luz, se convierte en un posible viaje de relajación y vacaciones; eso es lo que creen ellos y es lo que creemos nosotros. Porque hacia el pueblo donde se dirigen, están ocurriendo cosas demasiado extrañas; animales muertos sin sentido, personas desaparecidas sin rastro y desde ese momento, la trama se va poniendo más tensa y misteriosa, cuando llegan a una cabaña que está totalmente aislada de todo y de todos.

Ya en la cabaña y en horas de la noche, los chicos están de fiesta; rápidamente, ven en el cielo una especie de cometa o algo parecido, que se acerca y de pronto impacta cerca de su cabaña. Como siempre; la.mente humana es tan curiosa que todos van al lugar y lo que allí ven resulta totalmente incomprensible, están conmocionados, aturdidos y empiezan a emitir locas teorías. Lo cierto, es que al parecer se ha confirmado que no estamos solos y lo que que viene a continuación será el total terror que se mete entre los personajes; están siendo perseguidos y cazados por algo cósmico y sobrenatural. ¿Podrán salir de esto los personajes?; ¿Es cierto lo que ven sus ojos?; ¿Tendrán la capacidad para enfrentar a estas criaturas y sobrevivir ante ellos?; lo cierto es que la tensión, la angustia y la desesperación, serán elementos que estarán presentes en todo momento, nadie podrá ocultarse, nadie podra escapar, ni siquiera nosotros estamos a salvo.

El desenvolvimiento de la historia; a mi forma de ver las cosas es fantástico, porque los eventos no se dan de manera inmediata; no hay nada explícito y se presta para el juego mental entre nosotros. Digo esto, porque las acciones van creando una especie de red, que se va teniendo de manera organizada y genera total locura entre los personajes. Cada espacio que visitan es una trampa, creando un ambiente psicológico que muchos no podrán comprender; definitivamente, todo lo que ocurre nos mantiene alertas de principio a fin, sin la necesidad de dar a conocer los detalles. La iluminación juega un papel importante durante las acciones; ya que podemos pasar de un ambiente iluminado, a otro con luz tenue y temerosa, hasta la aparición repentina y angustiosa de una luz roja intensa que indica un peligro inminente. Lo mismo ocurre con el ambiente y el sonido, los cuales crean esa sensación de angustia total que semmere en cada fibra de nosotros; no hay escape en un lugar tan grande y esa sensación crece con el impacto sonoro del momento.

La película nos muestra que lo que está ocurriendo en un pequeño pueblo, podría ser una especie de experimento, apenas algo pequeño, entre cosas grandes que se pudieran estar cocinando a nivel internacional. Es un juego mental que desmorona lo que creíamos conocer y desde mi perspectiva; el filme fácilmente pudo haber sido tomado como base para realizaciones posteriores. Son teorías que siempre estarán en el tapete y nos invita a analizar, cuan arrogante puede ser la humanidad, en la búsqueda de saber si además de nosotros, hay algo más en el espacio que evite que sigamos creyendo que somos los más poderosos. Definitivamente; es un mensaje hacia la toma de conciencia colectiva.

Como dije antes; es una película que no necesita un alto presupuesto para brindar alto entretenimiento. Para mí; es una película para múltiples gustos, especialmente para aquellos que les gusta pensar, atar cabos, juntar piezas y que su mente siempre esté inquieta, ante la búsqueda de cualquier obra cinematográfica que le vuele la cabeza. Así como hice yo, debes darle una oportunidad a Extraterrestrial, porque ten por seguro que después de verla, mirar al cielo no será tan placentero como siempre lo haces. Esta película es tan buena como cualquier otra del género; me atrevo a decir, que en este género es mejor que algunas. No dejes que lo cuenten y se testigo de algo que puede cambiar tu forma de ver las cosas; no dejes que ellos te analicen, saludos y nos vemos pronto.

Okay so I just watched You+Me, Against the World, so the story follows Alma Lancaster, she's 18, and on the surface she is living what looks like a really perfect life, she has wealthy family, everything looking put together, and her parents believe she's off studying law like the good, responsible daughter that they raised, But secretly, that is not what she is chasing at all, Her real dream is filmmaking, and she has been quietly pursuing that behind everyone is back, living this whole double life just to protect her real passion from a family that probably wouldn't approve.

On campus, she meets Vadim Arcadi, 20, and chai..... seriously this guy is giving full magnetic troubled bad boy energy, he is the solitary type, carrying a past that clearly isn't easy, the kind of person who keeps everyone at arm's length because letting people in has probably cost him before, so yesh..... naturally, because this is exactly how these stories go, the two of them get forced to work together on a student film project, and so you already know what that means, forced proximity is basically a guaranteed setup for feelings to start creeping in.

At first they are clashing, because obviously, two very different people with two very different energies, but very slowly, working so closely together starts to breaking down whatever walls either of them had up, they then grow much closer, and eventually they fall in love.... even though it is clear that neither of them really planned for it or even necessarily wanted it, there is something about a love story where both people are kind of fighting the pull the whole time that just hits different, it feels more real, less like insta love and more like something that actually built up.

But of course, nothing this good can just be so simple.... yeah, because someone is secretly watching them, and this mystery person is just so determined to tear them apart, So we are talking about someone willing to expose secrets that could destroy both Alma and Vadim, because of jealousy, the kind of secrets that could unravel their families, their reputations, everything that they have built..... so tthat layer alone turns this from just a cute campus romance into something with actual tension and stakes, because now it is not just will they end up together, it is will they even survive whatever this mystery threat is planning.

What I really liked is how the movie just balances the romance with the underlying suspense, it is not just soft, dreamy love story scenes, back to back, there is this constant unease sitting underneath everything, like you are never fully allowed to relax into the sweet moments because you know something is coming, it keeps you on edge in a way a lot of typical YA romances don't even attempt.

The chemistry between Alma and Vadim also worked for me, you can feel the tension, the pull, the whole i shouldn't want this but I do energy radiating off both of them, and Alma's whole secret double life, hiding her real passion from her family while also hiding this relationship, adds this extra layer of pressure that makes her feel like a fuller character, not just girl who falls for bad boy.

If I had one small gripe, it is that some of the pacing in the middle felt a little rushed, like they wanted to get to the bigger reveals faster than the story maybe needed, but it didn't ruin the overall experience for me.

Overall, this is a really solid, moody, tension filled romance with just enough mystery to keep you hooked, If you are into campus love stories with secrets, stakes, and a slow burn kind of chemistry, this one's worth your time.
