Not long ago I saw a video that was about "movies that deserve a sequel", in that video there were movies that I already knew and had seen, others that I knew but I wasn't interested in seeing and then there was the movie that I will talk about today: The Nice Guys and after having seen it, it is indeed a movie that needs and deserves a sequel, but I think that because it is a 2016 movie and being already almost in 2026, it seems to me that that sequel will not be able to be made and I really would have liked them to make it because it is a pretty good movie and it fits perfectly with my style of humor.

No hace mucho vi un video que se trataba sobre “películas que merecen una secuela”, en dicho video habían películas que ya conocía y habia visto, otras que conocía pero no me interesaba ver y luego estaba la película de la cual hablaré hoy: The Nice Guys y luego de haberla visto, efectivamente es una película que necesita y merece una secuela, pero creo que debido a que es una película del 2016 y estando ya casi en el 2026, me parece que esa secuela no se podrá hacer y realmente me hubiese gustado que la hicieran porque es una película bastante buena y encaja perfectamente con mi estilo de humor.

The Nice Guys is a film that perfectly mixes police cinema with black and absurd humor, but also under this humorous genre there is also a plot where the protagonists must solve a crime of corruption. The story follows the duo of protagonists played by Ryan Gosling and Russell Crow, while Gosling is a private detective, Holland March character plays a character full of mistakes and family problems and Crowe's character named Jackson Healy is a character characterized by being a tough guy and his job is to take on jobs such as intimidating people for hire. This duo of protagonists who at the beginning have a somewhat violent encounter, are involved in a system of corruption quite deep and dangerous which they must take care of solving it.

The Nice Guys es una película que mezcla perfectamente el cine policial junto con el humor negro y absurdo, pero que además bajo ese género humorístico también se encuentra con argumento donde los protagonistas deberán resolver un crimen de corrupción. La historia sigue al dúo de protagonistas interpretados por Ryan Gosling y Rusell Crow, mientras que Gosling es un detective privado, personaje Holland March funge como un personaje lleno de errores y problemas familiares y el personaje de Crowe llamado Jackson Healy es un personaje que se caracteriza por ser un tipo rudo y su trabajo es encargarse de trabajos como intimidar a personas por encargo. Este dúo de protagonistas los cuales al principio tienen un encuentro algo violento, se ven envueltos en un sistema de corrupción bastante profundo y peligroso del cual deberán encargarse de resolverlo.

This duo of protagonists must take on the case of the disappearance of a woman, which although it might seem a "simple" case, as I said before, under that facade is a wide network of corruption involving the head of the police department, pornography and murder. The chemistry of the characters played by Ryan Gosling and Russell Crow is palpable, their obvious differences but at the same time similarities make the story develops in an enjoyable, entertaining and funny way, plus we will be able to witness by these characters and others, a story full of humor and absurd moments.

Este duo de protagonistas deberán encargarse del caso de desaparición de una mujer, el cual aunque podría parecer un caso “simple”, como ya dije anteriormente, bajo esa fachada se encuentra una amplia red de corrupción que involucra a la jefa del departamento de la policía, la pornografía y el asesinato. La química de los personajes interpretados por Ryan Gosling y Rusell Crow es palpable, sus evidentes diferencias pero a la vez similitudes hacen que la historia de desarrolle de forma amena, entretenida y divertida, además de que vamos a poder presenciar por parte de estos personajes y de otros más, una historia llena de humor y de momento absurdos.

Ryan Gosling's character manages to create a pretty good physical humor, your acting work with this character is worthy of the most classic films of this genre, while the character played by Crow brings rudeness, violence, but in the background is a character quite honest for his duty, although with obvious imperfections, which make these two characters endear themselves quite easily. The dynamic we see in this film is quite classic, on the one hand we see a young man who although quite good in his branch of work, lacks certain experiences and on the other hand, we have a character with more years of experience and that brings a lot on the moral side and maturity.

El personaje de Ryan Gosling logra crear un humor físico bastante bueno, tu trabajo actoral con este personaje es digno de las películas más clásicas de este género, mientras que el personaje interpretado por Crow aporta rudeza, violencia, pero en el fondo es un personaje bastante honrado por su deber, aunque con evidentes imperfecciones, las cuales hacen que estos dos personajes se hagan de querer con bastante facilidad. La dinámica que vemos en esta película es bastante clásica, por una parte vemos a un joven que aunque bastante bueno en su rama de trabajo, carece de ciertas experiencias y por otra parte, tenemos a un personaje con más años de experiencia y que aporta bastante en el lado moral y en la madurez.

What stands out the most about this film is its humor, it is its central axis and I really did not expect to have so much fun, it does not have stupid jokes, but under that absurdity it is quite intelligent, very ironic and full of black humor, but without getting tired, but it is balanced enough for everyone to see it. Really this is a movie that deserves a sequel and it's a shame that already being The Nice Guys a 2016 movie and already being in 2025 it hasn't had its deserved sequel let alone any sign that it's going to be made. But still this is a movie that is extremely worth watching and I would watch it a couple more times.

Lo que más destaca a este película es su humor, es su eje central y realmente no me esperaba que me fuese a divertir tanto, no cuenta con chistes estúpidos, sino que bajo esa absurdez es bastante inteligente, muy irónico y lleno de humor negro, pero sin llegar a cansancio, sino que es lo suficientemente equilibrado como para que todo el mundo lo pueda ver. Realmente esta es una película que merece una secuela y es una lástima que ya siendo The Nice Guys una película del 2016 y ya estando en el 2025 no haya tenido su merecida secuela y mucho menos alguna señal de que se vaya a hacer. Pero aun así esta es una película que vale muchísimo la pena mirar y la miraría un par de veces más.

I've started watching this new HBO limited series and I'm really excited about it. I'm a huge fan of crime, investigation thrillers combined with suspense, and I think HBO is the platform that has the best ones. They've got True Detective, where each season is basically a limited series—seasons 1 and 4 are my favorites, by the way. Then there's Mare of Easttown, which is arguably their best limited series of this style, and don't even get me started on The Wire, which many consider the greatest show of all time.

He comenzados a ver esta nueva miniserie de HBO muy emocionado, soy muy fan de los thrillers policiales, de investigación combinados con suspenso y creo que HBO es la plataforma que tienen los mejores, cuenta con True Detective, donde cada temporada es una miniserie prácticamente, la 1 y la 4 mis favoritas por cierto, Mare of Easttown la mejor miniserie que tiene de este estilo no si hasta ahora, y ni hablar de The Wire, la que muchos consideran la mejor serie de la historia.

HBO originals are almost always a guarantee of quality content, and I don't think Task will be an exception. Starring Mark Ruffalo, Task tells the story of an FBI agent who lives in the suburbs of Philadelphia with his daughter. Every day, he wakes up to go to a booth and hand out flyers to anyone interested in joining the FBI. He doesn't seem to have a good relationship with his daughter, his son is in jail, and apparently, his wife left him, so he's drowning all that sorrow in alcohol.

Los originales de HBO casi siempre son una garantía de buen contenido, y creo que Task no será la excepción. Protagonizada por Mark Ruffalo, Task nos cuenta la historia de un agente del FBI que vive en los suburbios de Filadelfia junto a su hija. Todos los días se despierta para ir a un stand a repartir folletos a quienes les interese unirse al FBI, no parece tener una buena relación con su hija, su hijo varón está preso y aparentemente su esposa lo abandonó, ahogando todas estas penas en el alcohol.

The other lead is Tom Pelphrey, who also plays a single father raising two young kids with the help of his niece. He works for the sanitation department alongside his friend, played by Raúl Castillo. This serves as the perfect cover for them to spy on houses where drugs are being sold and then rob them—a kind of modern-day Robin Hood. However, things aren't going well, and these crimes are starting to turn violent.

El otro protagonistas es Tom Pelphrey, quien representa también un padre soltero, que con la ayuda de su sobrina está criando dos niños pequeños. Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) is assigned, along with a unit of rookies, to investigate these crimes and put an end to this mysterious crew, kicking off what looks like a cat-and-mouse game. Everything I've told you is just the premise of the series; it's all part of the first episode out of the seven it will have. For many, just having Ruffalo as the lead is reason enough to watch it, but honestly, the main reason that drew me in is its format.

Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) es asignado junto a una unidad de novatos a investigar estos crímenes y poner fin a esta misteriosa banda, comenzando lo que aparentemente será un juego del gato y el ratón. Todo esto que les cuento es solo la premisa de la serie, es parte del primero episodio de los 7 con los que contará. Para muchos solo con contar con Ruffalo como protagonistas ya es un motivo suficiente para verla, honestamente para mí la principal razón que me atrajo es su formato.

These stories that depict the reality of American suburbs, the constant struggle to curb a population that feels completely free to do as they please, and the serious drug problems and heinous crimes that plague the nation, have a certain appeal—perhaps because of the gut-punches of reality they offer. They show how the institutions of the so-called "First World" are full of people with plenty of their own problems, but who ultimately put duty and doing their job above everything else.

Estás historias que cuentan la realidad de los suburbios americanos, de la lucha constante por frenar una población que se siente en plena libertad de hacer lo que les place, de los graves problemas de drogas que sufre esa nación y los crímenes atroces, tienen cierto atractivo quizás por los golpes de realidad que ofrecen. Como las instituciones del llamado primer mundo, están llenas de personas con muchos problemas, pero que al final el deber y cumplir con su trabajo está por encima de ellos.

So far, I've only seen the first episode. I liked it, and I'm hooked. It might have the potential to be on par with Mare of Easttown or maybe even surpass it. I'll only know that in a few days. All the episodes are already out, but with shows like this, I take my time watching them. There's no rush with stories worth truly digesting, so I'll be sharing my final verdict soon.

Hola Hivers cinéfilos, espero estén bien. Desde que inicio está película tuve muchas deudas y la intriga de saber ¿quién lo había hecho?, y ¿que había pasado con los niños desaparecidos? No me esperaba un desenlace tan perturbador y rudo, luego me preguntaba, ¿porque ella lo hizo? ¿Que la motivó a hacerlo? Y comencé a buscar teorías que tal vez puedan ser ciertas o no pero de no ser así puedo concluir que simplemente la motivó la maldad, porque sí en el mundo hay mucha maldad y mucha gente mala, que no necesitan tener motivos para hacer daño simplemente es algo que necesitan y les hace bien, no les quiero hacer tantos spoilers en este review para que vean la película y queden tan mal como yo pero aquí les va un poco más de esta película.

Hello Hivers cinephiles, I hope you are well. From the beginning of this film, I had many questions and was intrigued to know who had done it and what had happened to the missing children. I did not expect such a disturbing and harsh ending, and then I wondered, why did she do it? What motivated her to do it? I started looking for theories that might or might not be true, but if not, I can only conclude that she was simply motivated by evil, because there is a lot of evil in the world and a lot of bad people who don't need a reason to hurt others; it's just something they need and makes them feel good. I don't want to give away too many spoilers in this review so that you can watch the movie and feel as bad as I did, but here's a little more about this movie.

Una noche como cualquier otra 17 niños y niñas desaparecen misteriosamente a la misma hora de la madrugada, sin dejar rastro ni indicios de que hayan sido secuestrados, simplemente salieron en medio de la noche corriendo de una forma muy extraña, algunos padres pudieron darse cuanta de lo que pasó por las cámaras de seguridad pero lo más extraño fué que todos los niños pertenecían a el mismo salón de clase por lo que la principal sospecha de la desaparición de los niños era la maestra Justine quién comenzó a ser acosada e incluso amenazada de muerte, mientras la policía hacia las investigaciones pertinente un padre de los niños desaparecidos comienza a inventar por su cuenta y descubre algunos cosas perturbadoras, por su parte Alex es el único niño de su clase que no desapareció por alguna razón y todo el mundo empieza a preguntarle que pudo haber pasado con los demás niños, la película toma un gira inesperado cuando aparece un personaje bastante particular que es la tía Gladys, tía de la madre de Alex.

One night like any other, 17 children mysteriously disappeared at the same time in the early hours of the morning, leaving no trace or evidence that they had been kidnapped. They simply ran off in the middle of the night in a very strange way. Some parents were able to see what happened on security cameras, but the strangest thing was that all the children belonged to the same classroom, so the main suspect in the children's disappearance was their teacher, Justine, who began to be harassed and even threatened with death. While the police conducted their investigation, one of the parents of the missing children began to investigate on his own and discovered some disturbing things. Meanwhile, ** Alex** is the only child in his class who did not disappear for some reason, and everyone begins to ask him what could have happened to the other children. Algunas cosas que me gustaron de la película fué la manera de contar la historia desde la perspectiva de cada personaje pero que luego se entrelazaban con el presente, no era saltos tan brusco al pasado si no lo que pasó en tiempo real pero en diferentes lugares, también el final que quizás te deja con más dudas que respuesta pero que está allí para que tú saques tus propias conclusiones o en mi caso que pienso en la teoría de que la tía Gladys no era quizás la tía Gladys y era un ente que tomó su cuerpo para hacer el mal, pero sí me encantaría saber el porque de sus acciones más a allá de pensar en que solo era una mala persona, pero déjame saber en los comentarios cuáles fueron tus teorías si ya las viste y si no corre a verla porque no tiene desperdicio. Some things I liked about the film were the way the story was told from each character's perspective but then intertwined with the present, it wasn't such a sudden jump to the past, but rather what happened in real time but in different places. I also liked the ending, which perhaps leaves you with more questions than answers, but it's there for you to draw your own conclusions. In my case, I think that Aunt Gladys was perhaps not Aunt Gladys, but rather an entity that took over her body to do evil. I would love to know the reason behind her actions beyond thinking that she was just a bad person. I've only been a fan of kdrama and all the beautiful things they have to show, from their language to their foods and their dressing. I also love their songs, I have quite a lot of them which I play when I'm not seeing a drama. What I was yet to experience in kdrama is what I found in this series I saw recently... Life after the Korean War.

From the first episode, I found myself wanting more even after the last episode. It's definitely one of the short series that I wish was longer but the story was well told in that short time it had. I was surprised to see bad reviews on this series but I figured not everyone is actually interested in the traditional or cultural lifestyle of other tribes.

"A Journey To stardom" or "A Star's Rise To Fame" would also perfectly fit in for this series as it's about a star who went from being a poor girl from Mokpo to a star in acting, singing and dancing at the national theatre. I actually thought it'd be like the American "A Star Is Born" version I've seen before but this one was totally different.

"Jeongyeon The Star Is Born" is a 2024 released TV series set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War. The cast features Kim Tae-ri, Shin Ye-eun, Jung Eun-chae, Ra Mi-ran and Kim Yoon-hye as the main characters. The series takes us on the journey of Pansori singer, Jeongyeon who overcomes hardship to stardom.

This series is the first of it's kind that I've seen and I've become very interested to learn more about the type of music displayed in the story. It introduces me to Gukgeuk (an all-female Korean theatrical art form that combines singing, acting and dancing) and Pansori (ancient vocal art form of storytelling performed by a singer & drummer).

I actually saw this series with my little cousins and I couldn't stop smiling whenever they try to sing like the characters did in the story, it's so beautiful and different to listen to. I'll say Kim Tae-ri taking up the role of Jeongyeon and learning to sing Pansori for her role is very admirable because she totally nailed her singing.

For every Gukgeuk show they planned for and performed, I felt this overwhelming excitement especially for the female lead who have to go through so many challenges from those who hate or don't want her to overshadow them. There is also Jung Eun-chae who played Ok-gyeong and acted as the biggest support to her.

The story goes like "Jeongyeon, a poor girl from Mokpo goes against her mother's wish not to sing pansori and travels to explore the world of national theater performance with the hope of becoming a star someday and make money for her family. Even though she faced countless downs, she experienced real support and growth.

I think her mother being so against her singing didn't make any sense for the first few episodes until it was revealed that she could sing very well too until her downfall years ago. It was a memorable scene to see the mother sing Pansori to her daughter as she tries to encourage her back to Gukgeuk, her new and greatest passion.

The other main characters did great in their roles especially the two ladies closest to Jeongyeon as they went from enemies to friends, supported each other in finding their strengths and saving the space they have their performances. The auditions to make them compete among themselves made it to being my favourite parts.

I was convinced I'd posted a review of this film on the platform, but I searched and couldn't find it. I found posts mentioning the film or its director, but not a proper review. Did I think about posting it and just didn't? Or was it that the first time I saw the film, I wasn't that active on the platform, and then, with each subsequent visit, I didn't review it because I assumed I'd already done so? Whatever the reason, I'm preparing to immediately correct this absence on my blog as I share with you the reasons that make this one of my favorite films.

Estaba convencido de que había subido una reseña de esta película a la plataforma, pero la estuve buscando y no la encontré. Conseguí posts en que menciono la película o a su directora, pero no una reseña propiamente dicha, ¿acaso pensé en subirla y no lo hice? ¿o la primera vez que vi la película no estaba tan activo en la plataforma y luego, a cada nueva visita, no la reseñé porque supuse que ya lo había hecho? Sea cual sea la razón, me dispongo a corregir inmediatamente esta ausencia en mi blog mientras les comparto las razones que hacen de esta una de mis películas favoritas.

Portrait de la jeune fille en feu (Portrait of a Lady on Fire) is a French period drama and romance film written and directed by Céline Sciamma. Set in France at the end of the 18th century, it tells the story of Marianne (Noémie Merlant), a painter who arrives at a remote village in Britannia, France, after being commissioned by a countess (Valeria Golino). Marianne must paint a portrait of Héloïse (Adèle Haenel), the countess's daughter. The problem is that someone else has already tried once, and the girl, who has just left the convent, did not pose for the painter. The reason? The portrait is the wedding gift that the countess will give to Héloïse's fiancé and future husband, a man to whom she must join for the rest of her life despite not knowing him. As you may have guessed from the scenes you've seen or some of the film's posters, Héloïse and Marianne fall in love, and thus the core of the plot emerges: the painter must fulfill the commission, that is, to paint a portrait of the woman she loves and, with that painting, deliver her to the man who will marry her. Neither of them can do anything about it. Why? Because this is the 18th century, a time when homosexuality was condemned, seen as a deviation, as something unnatural. Marianne and Héloïse only have a few days together to love each other. Then, they must say goodbye forever.

Como pueden haber intuido a partir de las escenas que han visto o algunos posters de la película, Héloïse y Marianne se enamoran y surge así el núcleo de la trama: la pintora debe cumplir con el encargo, esto es, retratar a la mujer que ama y con esa pintura entregarla al hombre que la desposará y ninguna de las dos puede hacer nada al respecto, ¿por qué? Porque se trata del siglo XVIII, época en la cual la homosexualidad era condenada, vista como una desviación, como algo antinatural. Portrait de la jeune fille en feu is one of the most beautiful and intense love stories I've ever seen. It's true that it's about a thwarted love, doomed to unhappiness or at least to an abrupt end, but that only reinforces the value of the short time the women share. Céline Sciamma's script is brilliant because in addition to charting the evolution of the relationship between Marianne and Héloïse, it reveals facts from each of their pasts that influence their present and give new meaning to certain moments. Furthermore, in an honest, intelligent, and insightful way, the film also reflects on the female condition, patriarchy, abortion, motherhood, marriage, and love, among many other things. All of this is reinforced by Claire Mathon's exquisite cinematography, which is a delight to behold from start to finish. I really like the plot and the characters, but the visual aspect of this film is one of the reasons I go back to it again and again (I think I've seen it four or five times). The color palette, the exterior locations, the contrast between the elements in the scenes, the framing—every frame, every scene is almost as artistic as the work Hélène Delmaire created for the film. Working 16 hours a day during filming, Hélène was responsible for creating the paintings and sketches that Marianne displays on screen as if they were her own. When we see Marianne's hands sketching or painting Héloïse, it's not always Noémie Merlant's hands we're seeing, but Delmaire's. Needless to say, each and every one of these paintings and drawings—which were exhibited in a gallery in Paris for the film's premiere—are breathtakingly beautiful.

Portrait de la jeune fille en feu es una de las historias de amor más hermosas e intensas que he visto en mi vida. Es cierto que se trata de un amor contrariado, condenado a la infelicidad o al menos a tener un final abrupto, pero eso no hace sino reforzar el valor del poco tiempo que las mujeres comparten. El guion de Céline Sciamma es brillante porque además de ir marcando la evolución de la relación entre Marianne y Héloïse, va revelando hechos del pasado de cada una que condicionan el presente y que le dan un nuevo significado a ciertos momentos. Además, de forma honesta, inteligente y acertada, la película reflexiona también sobre la condición femenina, el patriarcado, el aborto, la maternidad, el matrimonio y el amor, entre muchas cosas. Todo ello se ve reforzado por la exquisita fotografía de Claire Mathon que es un deleite para la vista de inicio a fin. A mí me gusta mucho la trama y me gustan los personajes, pero el aspecto visual de esta película es una de las razones que me hace volver a ella una y otra vez (creo que la he visto unas cuatro o cinco veces). La paleta de colores, las locaciones en exteriores, el contraste entre los elementos de las escenas, los encuadres, cada cuadro, cada escena es casi tan artística como las obras que Hélène Delmaire realizó para la cinta. Trabajando 16 horas diarias durante el rodaje, Hélène fue la encargada de realizar los cuadros y los bosquejos que Marianne muestra en pantalla como si fueran suyos. Cuando vemos las manos de Marianne bosquejar o pintar a Héloïse, no siempre son las manos de Noémie Merlant las que vemos sino las de Delmaire. Sobra decir que todas y cada una de esas pinturas y esos dibujos - que fueron exhibidos en una galería en París para el estreno del film - son de una belleza sobrecogedora.

We have, then, the beautiful and sad story of two women, made by an almost exclusively female cast of great talent and sensitivity. I mentioned Claire Mathon's photography and Hélène Delmaire's paintings, as well as the script and direction of Céline Sciamma, whose other very good films I've seen, such as Tomboy and Petite Maman, but the women who appear on screen, let's say in front of the cameras, are also incredible; they are not just any actresses.

Tenemos entonces la hermosa y triste historia de dos mujeres, realizada por un conjunto casi exclusivamente femenino de mucho talento y sensibilidad. Mencioné la fotografía de Claire Mathon y las pinturas de Hélène Delmaire, además del guion y la dirección de Céline Sciamma, de quien he visto otras muy buenas películas como Tomboy o Petite Maman, pero las mujeres que aparecen en pantalla, digamos frente a las cámaras, increíbles también, no son actrices cualesquiera.

We Westerners remember seeing Valeria Golino as Ramada in the two hilarious installments of Hot Shots alongside Charlie Sheen, but Golino has a successful and prolific career in Italy not only as an actress but also as a screenwriter and director. Adèle Haenel also has a great career, as demonstrated by her work in La Fille Inconnue under the direction of the Dardenne brothers, in addition to having starred in Céline Sciamma's feature debut Naissance des pieuvres. Noémie Merlant, who is the one I've seen the most in other films, stars in Audiard's Les Olympiades (Paris, 13th District) and acts alongside Cate Blanchett and Nina Hoss in Tár, but she has also written, directed and starred in a couple of films. Even the youngest member of the cast, Luàna Bajrami, who plays Sophie, at less than twenty-five, has already written and directed a couple of films in Kosovo—her country of origin—and has acted in French films alongside Jodie Foster and Mathieu Almaric. And all that talent, that strength, that voice, and that feminine gaze are essential to successfully tell a story as beautiful and memorable as Portrait de la jeune fille en feu, one of my favorite lesbian romances along with Carol and The Handmaiden. While directed by men (Todd Haynes and Park Chan-wook, respectively), they are based on novels by women authors: Patricia Highsmith and Sarah Waters. Have you seen this film yet? Y todo ese talento, esa fuerza, esa voz y esa mirada femenina son indispensables para contar con éxito una historia tan hermosa y memorable como la de Portrait de la jeune fille en feu, uno de mis romances lésbicos favoritos junto a Carol y The Handmaiden, los que si bien están dirigidos por hombres (Todd Haynes y Park Chan-wook respectivamente) se basan en novelas de autoras mujeres: Patricia Highsmith y Sarah Waters.
