“Wait… am I really scared, or is my mind just messing with me?” That was exactly my experience with Grimcutty. I didn’t even plan to watch it initially. I stumbled on it one night when I was just scrolling endlessly, looking for something that could give me a little thrill but not be too predictable. The poster itself caught me—the strange, lanky monster with this eerie, stretched-out face—and I was like, “Okay, maybe I’ll just check it out.” Little did I know, I was about to walk into one of the creepiest mind-bending stories about fear, parents, and kids that I’ve ever seen.

So, here’s the gist. Grimcutty is this urban legend-type story. Think of those internet challenges kids whisper about—like Momo or the Blue Whale Challenge—but taken to another level. The monster, Grimcutty, is like a modern boogeyman who shows up when people believe in it enough. That alone had me hooked, because let’s be real, the internet has made myths way scarier than they used to be.

The main character is this teen girl called Asha, who is merely trying to live her life, but her parents are overprotective. They read all these parent blogs about the new killer trends on the internet and Grimcutty is the latest craze. You would be led to believe that the monster is just in their imagination at the beginning, and then--WHAM!--it is real. And not only realistic but it begins preying on children, feeding off the fear parents have that the children will be unsafe on the internet. Grimcutty: the moment he appeared on the screen my thoughts went, I jumped. The shape of that creature is feral. Long limbs, weird face and looks like something out of one of your nightmares that you just can not wake up out of.

The scene that I still remember is when Asha saw Grimcutty first. It did not just attack her blindly- it was almost as though it was speaking to her in the silence, as though it already knew her fears. That struck me because it was not simply about a monster: it was about how the fears our parents impose on us sometimes become monsters in our lives. I recall how I would sit there, and think of the times my own parents were worried about me, their fears that would cause me to question myself. At that moment, Grimcutty was not a horror movie monster--it was a symbol of all the burden of expectations and fear we have because of other people.

The parents in this movie! Whew. They caused me to be angry and also sad. Asha, and her mom in particular all read all those articles about being afraid on the internet. She did not bother to hear what her daughter had to say, instead just assumed that it was the internet corrupting her. And it got me wondering: was that not how many of us feel at times? Like nobody listens, they just assume the worst. I could feel Asha’s frustration in my chest because I’ve been there too, misunderstood, trying to prove a point but nobody really believing me

The suspense continued to mount-every time Grimcutty appeared, the parents would actually see their children inflicting self injuries, but in their minds they would just think that the children are going mad. That turn in itself sent shivers down my spine Think of trying to persuade your parents that it is not you--it is this creature assaulting you--and they do not believe you. The horror was the helplessness in me.

And there is a scene when Asha is struggling with Grimcutty in her room, and her mom barges in. However, she sees Asha with a knife against her instead of the monster. At that moment I froze. The simplicity of loneliness of not being believed, of your pain being turned against you- the scene stayed with me long after the movie ended. It made me think about how we often go through things, and people judge it to be something that is only in our heads when in fact it is a very real thing.

The film develops the point that the only solution to defeating Grimcutty is to break the chain of fear- the fear that parents develop, the belief that continues to feed the monster. And honestly? That was the bit that touched me Isn t that how life is? Fear increases as we pay it excessive attention It made me think of how many of my fears in life only survived on my feeding of them with what ifs. The film camouflaged this profound truth with an element of horror and that is what made it stand out in my opinion.

Now, I won’t be saying that Grimcutty is perfect. It has moments that felt a bit too slow and at times the parents were too stubborn to make the story worth turning to frustration rather than the monster itself. But perhaps that was the thing--that human obstinacy is more terrifying than the beast. Still, the atmosphere, the monster’s design, and the raw emotional message behind it? It all worked for me.

So, if you’re looking for a horror flick that isn’t just about cheap jump scares but actually forces you to look at yourself, your family, and the invisible fears that control us, then Grimcutty is worth the watch. But I warn you—once you see that creepy face and those long arms, you might just find yourself keeping the lights on at night. I know I did.

Regarded as one of the best films of the decade, a complete masterpiece of storytelling. South Korea has become adept at creating outstanding original stories that are layered with social commentary, the same reason they are currently leading the way when it comes to TV shows and movies. This Oscar winning movie is no exception. Welcome to one of the most riveting movies of the decade.... A movie on the ugly face of inequality.

The Plot;

Parasite follows two families in South Korea, one the poor and struggling Kim family—Ki-taek (father), Chung-sook (mother), Ki-woo (son), and Ki-jung (daughter)—, the other, The Park family, a wealthy elite who lives in a mansion. The narrative begins when Ki-woo gets an opportunity to tutor the daughter of the rich Park family. Due to the trusting and gullible disposition of the Parks, the poor family are able to infiltrate the rich family and the house that they live in, under the guise of being something they are not. They rely on lies, cunningness and manipulation to survive. They very much have a parasitic kind of relationship.

Ki-jung becomes an art therapist, Chung-sook replaces the housekeeper, and Ki-taek takes over as the chauffeur. They weave elaborate lies to secure these positions, living off the Parks’ wealth while maintaining the façade of professionalism.

However it's not long that the family discovers they are not the only ones living off the Parks, but their former housekeeper has been harbouring her husband in a bunker beneath the Mansion, to escape loan sharks.

The poor family kills the former housekeeper in front of her helpless husband and run home to discover that their house in the basement was flooded with sewage water.

My review;

"Parasite" is all about how the members of the lower classes leech off of the upper class, the Park family while it also lets us know how the Parks also leeched off of the lower classes by using them for cheap labour. So both families are “parasites” in different ways: the Kims latch onto the Parks, while the man in the basement survives off them too. Even the Parks parasitize cheap labor without understanding their workers’ struggles. Mr Park is oblivious to the fact that the luxuries he enjoys everyday is because of the hard labour of someone beneath him. This borders on indifference which is exhibited so clearly in Park's relationship with the poor family so much so that he thinks "the poor smell." They draw the line making sure nobody crosses it because they are not interested in the outside world, people in the subway and people who might "smell" as a result of poverty, and he maintains his status as rich and superior.

The ruling class is the wealthy Park family, so Ki-woo and his family alter their appearances to fit into the mold of higher status individuals with so much yearning to become like them, both economically and socially.

The semi-basement and the mansion offers a sharp contrast — class divide and social inequality while also showing how the poor literally live beneath the rich.

What Parasite points out is really terrifying. It points out that the relationship between the rich and the poor is largely parasitic in the opposite direction. The poor remains poor because they are not compensated fairly for their labour, in other to maximize a profit and escape destitution. In reality, only the rich, like Mr Park, only truly benefits. This is the ugly face of inequality.

Parasite is a masterpiece of modern cinema because it balances entertainment with biting social commentary. It doesn’t preach—it shows. The final act is brutal yet inevitable, exposing how class resentment simmers beneath the surface until it explodes.

The film’s ending—Ki-woo’s fantasy of buying the mansion vs. the bleak reality of him still trapped in poverty—is one of the most powerful critiques of capitalism ever put on screen. It is a brilliant, layered, and unforgettable film that forces us to confront uncomfortable truths about inequality.

Just watched Shaman (2025), I'm kinda torn on this one its been a week of dissapointment one after another some bigger than others although this one is right in the middle so at best case kinda close to a 6 but dont take this comment too too heavy because there is some light at the end of the tunnel, literally at the end. The movie had me hooked from the start with its setup but then it kinda fell into some predictable territory that left me wanting more. This is one of those possession movies that starts off strong but then you realize you've probably seen this shit before just in different locations. The movie tells the story of a missionary family, Candace played by Sarah Canning and her husband Joel with Daniel Gillies who take their teenage son Elliot to this remote village in Ecuador trying to convert indigenous people to Christianity. Right off the bat you can see where this is heading when the kid goes into a forbidden cave looking for his toy plane and comes out with something dark attached to him, the whole setup screams culture clash and spiritual warfare which is actually pretty interesting when it's not falling back on the same old possession cliches.

What really works about Shaman is the location and atmosphere, shooting in actual Ecuador gives the movie this authentic feel that you don't get from studio sets along with a beautiful cinematography showing off these mountain villages and caves that look very very creepy without needing a ton of special effects. Then there is Sarah Canning who almost carry the movie on her shoulders as the mother trying to save her son while questioning her own faith and she handles it well enough, you can see her character slowly breaking down as she realizes her Christian beliefs might not be enough to fight whatever ancient spirit has taken over Elliot. The possession scenes doesnt look like your regular or say most common possession buildups or even the actual moments the kid looks like he is not himself anymore, the kid playing Elliot actually sells the demonic stuff without going full cheesy horror movie territory most of the time, even when in full demon mode you actually have that demonic vibe on him so its not only effects, make up, its his hole corporal image and in my opinion they did a great job at it, the effects team did their job making him look disturbing with all that black goo and twisted expressions. The shaman character played by Landre Morales brings this indigenous spiritual element that feels real rather than some Hollywood stereotype of native mysticism.

Where the movie starts losing me is in the middle section where it becomes your standard exorcism vs ancient evil setup, its here where the movie drags a lot and starts to become predictable, we all known that there is almost carbon copy formula for demonic posessions movie and they started with the right foot although then falls into this formula. We get the usual scenes of the family trying different solutions, bringing in the local priest who gets his ass kicked by the demon, then having to turn to the shaman who has been warning them all along. It's not like a bad bad movie but then turns very average becase you can see every beat coming from miles away, like they were following some possession movie checklist instead of really exploring the cultural and religious conflicts they set up. The ending does caught me off guard and honestly saved the whole movie for me and without spoiling anything let me just say they went to a dark place that most movies wouldn't have the balls to go to, the movie doesnt have much to discuss about because one thing is very key to the other but it involve direct kids sacrifice, one son for another and would be the only real reason why I consider it a 6, scratching a 6 and I might be too harsh on this one so take it with a grain of salt, because if they havent done this and how it all plays out would be a total dissapointment. It makes you rethink everything that happened before and adds this layer of moral complexity that elevates the whole experience. Candace's final choice is fucked up in the best way possible and shows just how far desperation can push someone.

What bugs me about Shaman is that it had all the pieces to be something really special with its setting, the clash between different belief systems, and some solid performances but it plays things too safe for most of the runtime. The movie works fine as a possession story but it could have been something more if it had committed to exploring the darker themes it touches on. The technical side is solid with good sound design and practical effects that make the supernatural elements feel grounded, also I really enjoy how even though its a fkn very dark movie visually, in very little scenes I could not see people even on the most dark rooms. The religious vs indigenous spirituality angle is handled better than usual, showing both sides as having valid beliefs rather than making one obviously right or wrong. The movie doesn't take cheap shots at either Christianity or native traditions which is refreshing in this type of story, there is also the village that feels like a real place with real people rather than just a spooky backdrop for horror scenes.

Overall Shaman is worth watching if you're into possession movies or want to see something shot in a unique location with solid atmosphere. The ending alone makes it worth the time even if the middle drags a bit with familiar beats. It's not gonna change your life but it's a decent watch that does enough right to keep you engaged, especially if you stick around for that wild final act that really brings everything together in an unexpected way. The movie is still good enough to recommend but not quite great enough to put on your must see list, its just a casual one time watch because there are not many Shaman movies out there and very few felt like real natives and not the concept we all have from the Hollywood mold. If you're looking for something different in the possession subgenre this delivers just enough fresh elements to make it worthwhile.

Yet, to attribute the show’s very existence solely to Simon is a profound historical oversight. The crucible from which The Wire truly emerged was Simon’s earlier collaboration with Ed Burns, a former Baltimore City Police detective turned school teacher. Burns, whose lived experience navigating both the streets and the failing public school system provided the show’s bedrock authenticity, was not merely a consultant; he became a vital producer and, crucially, stepped into the writer’s room for the fifth episode, The Pager.

The episode’s central police narrative meticulously charts the agonising frustration of Lieutenant Cedric Daniels’ nascent task force. Their painstaking efforts to build a case against the Barksdale Organisation hit repeated walls, culminating in the bittersweet victory of finally securing a wiretap warrant. The significance is underscored by the rare appearance of Judge Phelan descending into the task force’s dingy basement headquarters to personally sign the order – a moment of hard-won institutional validation. Yet, triumph swiftly curdles into despair. The dealers’ cloned pager numbers, painstakingly gathered, prove maddeningly opaque, likely employing a numerical code rendering them useless. Just as the task force seems permanently hamstrung, the breakthrough arrives from an utterly unexpected quarter: the desk-bound Prez. Demoted following his disastrous, violent encounter with a civilian, Prez, freed from the adrenaline-fuelled chaos of street policing, finds the mental space his colleagues lack. His quiet, analytical persistence cracks the code, transforming meaningless digits into actionable intelligence – a triumph of intellect over brute force, born from enforced reflection.

Simultaneously, the Barksdale Organisation reels from the audacious robbery executed by Omar Little’s crew. Stringer Bell, ever the strategic thinker, immediately suspects an inside leak, his paranoia fixating on the Pit crew. His solution is chillingly pragmatic: withhold their pay, reasoning that those who remain silent are the likely traitors. This internal purge sets the stage for tragedy. D’Angelo Barksdale’s soldiers, Poot (Tray Chaney) and the Wallace (young Michael B. Jordan), spot Omar’s lover, Brandon Wright, in an arcade. They report this critical intelligence, triggering the Barksdale enforcers. The consequence is swift and brutal: Brandon is murdered, joining John Bailey, the third member of Omar’s crew, already gunned down.

Elsewhere, the volatile duo of Herc and Carver achieve a minor victory by arresting the street-level dealer Boadie, but their heavy-handed attempt to flip him spectacularly backfires, further poisoning relations and fueling the cycle of violence. Meanwhile, McNulty and Kima Greggs pursue a more strategic gambit: leveraging Omar Little’s vendetta against the Barksdales by attempting to recruit him as an informant. Their tense, impromptu meeting at a cemetery becomes a fascinating exchange of intel – McNulty reveals Bailey’s fate, while Omar, with chilling nonchalance, discloses his knowledge of Bubbles as a police informant. Omar’s refusal, grounded in his strict code against "snitching," is delivered with a respect that highlights the complex, almost honourable, boundaries within his criminal world. This parley, however, suffers from a certain staginess; the cemetery setting and the measured dialogue feel more reminiscent of a classic Western standoff than the gritty, spontaneous realism The Wire typically masters, momentarily pulling the viewer out of the show’s immersive verisimilitude.

Within the consistently high watermark of The Wire, The Pager undeniably feels a step down from the masterful first four episodes. The primary reason lies in Ed Burns’ debut as a credited writer. While possessing invaluable experiential knowledge, Burns, at this stage, simply lacks Simon’s seasoned command of narrative economy and character exposition. Certain scenes, particularly D’Angelo’s awkward date with Donette in an overly posh Baltimore restaurant, feel clunky and didactic. The unsubtle contrast between D’Angelo’s discomfort and the affluent white clientele serves as heavy-handed social commentary, lacking the organic integration of theme and character that Simon achieves so effortlessly. Similarly, D’Angelo’s continued pursuit of stripper Shardene Innes (Wendy Grantham) and the visit to Avon’s comatose brother, while adding texture, don’t significantly propel the central plot forward in this specific episode, contributing to a slight narrative drag.

However, Burns should not be dismissed outright. He demonstrates a nascent but promising skill in adding layers to seemingly one-dimensional characters. The scene where Herc and Carver, despite their earlier brutality towards Bodie, find a moment of grudging camaraderie with him over a game of pool, is quietly revelatory. It hints at the complex humanity lurking beneath their cop personas, a nuance Burns, drawing from his police background, seems uniquely positioned to explore. Yet, his most significant contribution, and arguably the episode’s single greatest strength, is the handling of Prez. Up until The Pager, Prez is portrayed as a liability – cowardly, prone to violence, and fundamentally unsuited to street policing. Burns masterfully engineers his redemption not through a violent act, but through the quiet, cerebral triumph of code-breaking. Prez’s victory in the drudgery of office work, earning the genuine respect of his colleagues, is one of the series’ most satisfying and thematically rich character turns. It validates the intellectual labour often overlooked in police procedurals and perfectly embodies the show’s core thesis about the value of different kinds of intelligence within broken systems.

At the end, The Pager is a fascinating, if flawed, chapter. It is indispensable for showcasing Ed Burns’ crucial, often underappreciated role in The Wire’s genesis and for delivering one of the series’ most pivotal character moments in Prez’s redemption. However, Burns’ relative inexperience as a television writer is evident in scenes that lack narrative drive and occasionally stumble into stylistic missteps. It is not the equal of Simon’s opening salvo, but it is far from a failure. It represents the necessary, sometimes uneven, growing pains of a collaborative masterpiece finding its full voice, proving that while Simon was the architect, the building required the hands of men like Burns, whose intimate knowledge of Baltimore’s streets and institutions provided the essential, authentic bricks.

My Oxford Year is a romantic film with some comedy elements, and I must say it’s a very nice one to watch. The movie has beautiful photography, a good plot, and actors who, even though not so famous (or at least I did not know them), delivered performances that lived up to the expectations of an easy to watch, pleasant film.

What I really liked about it is how it can take you back to your college or student years. There are funny moments, heartwarming ones, and plenty of beautiful sceneries from the UK. Personally, since I’ve never been to the UK, I really enjoyed seeing the architecture, the streets, and the unique atmosphere that Oxford brings to the screen.

It’s definitely a movie that I would recommend mostly for couples or for girls’ movie nights. It doesn’t have action-packed scenes, so don’t expect fights or thrills. Instead, it focuses on the story, the emotions, and the relationships, so it’s better to check the plot beforehand to make sure it matches your taste.

As per imdb:

When Anna, an ambitious young American woman, sets out for Oxford University to fulfill a childhood dream, she has her life completely on track until she meets a charming and clever local who profoundly alters both of their lives.

I enjoyed watching it. The romance is at the heart of the film, and while you should be aware of the emotional side of the story, it adds depth and meaning to the whole experience.

For imdb, the rating is 5.9/10 and I may put almost 6.2 (not any more) - but for me that was enough for an entertaining evening.

I also enjoyed watching the landscapes, architecture and listening to British accent :)

Overall, My Oxford Year is a lovely, warm, and visually beautiful film. If you’re in the mood for something romantic with touches of humor and you’d like to get a cinematic glimpse of Oxford, then this movie is definitely worth your time.

Hi guys, how are you all? Hope you are doing well. Friends, lately I have been watching Tamil movies, and I am sharing with you some things about that movie. Because many Tamil movies are released, each movie is very expensive, and very good actors and actresses have acted in these movies. Many high-budget movies are not released all at once; instead, several movies are released simultaneously. I watched a movie today and thought I'd share something about this movie.

In the beginning of the movie, a big Hindu temple is shown on a TV screen, the temple is built on a lot of land, the price of the land in that area is very high, the minister of that area gives an idea about it, his p.a explains to him, basically the reason is that the land is taken anyway and the land is sold at a very high price, so the dishonest minister orders to find out who donated the land. This is how the director starts his movie; the beginning is pretty good for me. Like, because of the kind of trailer I've seen, I thought the opening would be a lot more exciting.

Those who have seen the movie will agree with me, and those who haven't seen this movie yet, you can watch the movie if you want. I didn't like it too much.

The criticisms for Superman (2025) started from the very first day the slightest glimpse into it was seen. People didn't even give it a chance 🤣. But at least they were all ready to watch the heck out of it.

The very first criticism was the change of Superman. Everyone has fell deeply in love with Henry Cavil, including me! He was the kinda guy that seemed to have been born for the role of Superman. No other Superman had looked that good, charming, hot, and the kind of guy you'd look at and say "yeah that is Superman". He was just that guy.

David Corenswet on the other hand was looking some type of way in the Trailer.

The next criticism was about why DC was starting all over again with their Universe, many thought everything was already going well with the DC universe so far, they had made Man of Steel, Superman vs Batman, Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, etc. Even though Marvel was doing better, it didn't look broken and in need of fixing, so why the sudden change? We thought everything was building up to further fun stuff.

The the third biggest Criticism was that this new Superman was weak! Why did he flinch when a can or something was thrown at him by the crowd? Why was he beaten so badly he needed Krypto's help? Why did he seem defeated?

Then the movie came out this year and it was the same thing, they didn't see anything to make them change their minds about the former criticisms they had. But I just watched Superman (2025) and

I'm more inclined to criticize the critics.

• David Corenswet also makes a great Superman. He's a handsome hot dude too, tall and with a great chin/jawline. He looks very much like Cavil, even. It was just missing a shirtless scene to convince the crowd further.

On the Trailer I didn't think he was a great Superman either, but when I saw other photos of him he looked great and I wondered why he wasn't looking that great in the trailer. But after watching the movie I saw he actually looked as good as his other photos and stuff showed.

• I have nothing to reply to the critics on the matter of why they had to start all over again. I'm not happy they had to start all over again, all the progress with Affleck, Gadot and Cavil being thrown away still feels painful for me. I think their reasons would definitely be financial rather than creative.

I think paying those huge stars for further movies were going to be too exorbitant. Also I think they want to take advantage of the fact that Marvel is not really making waves currently. After End Game Marvel has kinda been in decline, and DC wants to take the spot and they think this is a great way to take that spot, by starting all over again and getting all the attention.

• The weakness of Superman is another big deal with the critics, the biggest deal of them all. I agree Superman was weaker here, but that was kinda due to great writing. Stay with me here. The Hammer of Boravia that beat Superman in the beginning was a great villain. He was being controlled by a team, a team that had researched all Superman's moves from years of fights, and putting up the perfect defences and all. It makes perfect sense that a villain like this would beat Superman. At least it didn't beat him to death.

The big giant frog was kinda worthy because of it's size but it wasn't convincing. It was quite a shame to see Superman struggle against him. It seemed he couldn't do anything whatsoever of not for the "Justice Gang". The fans know Superman is supposed to be too strong for all that, a display of strength here was kinda badly needed.

The clone of Superman was a great villain, that's for sure. Superman vs Superman.

The other villain called "The Engineer" was a worthy one too. She could manipulate matter in every crazy way, it made sense that she was hard to beat. She couldn't be beaten with brute force and power, Superman had to come up with something smart, and he did, and it worked.

My conclusion on this matter is we needed to see more show of strength and power from Superman, though, and we didn't see enough. That doesn't ruin the movie, though, but I agree it was disappointing for the fans. Hopefully subsequent installments would take care of this.

Hola amigos de esta gran plataforma de Hive, hoy quiero hablarles de una película que vi recientemente. No soy muy fanático de las películas románticas, pero hoy me animé a ver una… y la verdad me sorprendió bastante.

Las películas románticas casi siempre repiten la misma fórmula: dos personas que se miran, se gustan al instante, se enamoran y, como si nada, ya son felices para siempre. Esa es una de las razones por las cuales este género nunca me llamó mucho la atención.

Sin embargo, hace poco vi una llamada “A través de mi ventana” y cambió por completo la forma en la que pensaba sobre este tipo de películas. Me di cuenta de que también pueden ser muy buenas, porque logran transmitir emociones que llegan al corazón y nos hacen valorar más los momentos que compartimos con la persona que amamos. Además, nos recuerdan que aún existen personas capaces de amar de verdad, dispuestas a estar a tu lado en cualquier circunstancia. Y seamos sinceros, hoy en día eso es algo difícil de encontrar, ya que la infidelidad o el estar con varias personas a la vez parece haberse normalizado. Si muchos se detuvieran a pensar, entenderían que no hay nada más hermoso que compartir tu vida con alguien a quien realmente amas, sin intereses de por medio.

Ahora, entrando en detalle, les cuento un poco sobre esta película: la historia trata de una chica que desde hace tiempo siente algo por un chico llamado Ares. Ella lo observa tanto que incluso llega a aprenderse sus horarios de entrenamiento y más cosas sobre él. Un día, Ares descubre su obsesión casi por accidente, cuando hackea su computadora solo para obtener la clave del wifi. Sí, así de curioso comienza todo, por la contraseña de un wifi. 😂 A partir de ese momento, empiezan a hablar, se van acercando poco a poco y con el tiempo surgen obstáculos que hacen que discutan constantemente. Es justo eso lo que le da a la película un toque divertido y diferente.

No les contaré más porque prefiero que ustedes mismos la vean. Lo que sí quiero decirles es que, aunque seamos más fanáticos de la acción, el misterio, el suspenso o el terror, vale la pena darnos la oportunidad de disfrutar de este tipo de películas. Nos recuerdan que el amor verdadero existe, solo que a veces hay que saber dónde buscarlo.

Hello friends from this amazing Hive platform! Today I want to share with you a movie I recently watched. I’m not really a big fan of romantic films, but this time I gave one a chance… and honestly, it really surprised me.

Romantic movies almost always follow the same pattern: two people meet, fall in love instantly, and suddenly everything is perfect, as if life were that simple. That’s one of the main reasons I never paid much attention to this genre.

However, I recently watched a film called “Through My Window”, and it completely changed the way I look at romantic movies. I realized that they can actually be very meaningful, because they allow us to feel strong emotions and help us appreciate even more those special moments we share with the person we love. They also remind us that true love still exists, and that there are people willing to be by your side no matter what. And honestly, nowadays that’s something rare to find, since infidelity or being with several people at once seems to have become normalized. If people would stop for a moment and reflect, they would see that there’s nothing more beautiful than sharing life with someone you truly love, without hidden interests involved.

Now let me tell you a bit about this movie: the story follows a girl who has been secretly in love with a boy named Ares. She knows so much about him that she even memorized his workout schedules and daily routines. One day, Ares accidentally discovers her obsession when he hacks her computer just to get the wifi password. Yes, believe it or not, everything begins with a wifi password. 😂 From that moment on, they start talking, getting closer and closer, and as time goes by, many obstacles arise that constantly make them fight. This, in turn, gives the movie a funny and refreshing touch.

I won’t spoil the rest because I’d really like you to watch it yourselves. What I do want to say is that, even if we’re fans of action, mystery, suspense, or horror films, it’s worth giving romantic movies a chance. They remind us that true love exists—you just need to know where to find it.

Hola, mis amigos. Es un placer saludarlos con mis mejores deseos, como siempre. Hoy les hablaré una serie que estoy segura vieron muchos de los contemporáneos conmigo.

Durante una época de mi vida, ya no tanto, me dediqué a ver muchas series y filmes en la televisión, y sin temor a equivocarme, puedo decir que "Merlín" ha sido una de las series que más disfruté. Cuando la vi, allá por el año 2010, vivía con mis dos hijos que aún eran pequeños y no podían leer los subtítulos. Sin embargo, se sentaban junto a mí a verla y hasta la disfrutaban. Yo siempre me encargué de darles una idea general de lo que ocurría. Además, a ellos le resultaba muy atractivo aquel mundo fantástico y sobre todo, el dragón parlante.

Esta espectacular serie, llena fantasía, magia y criaturas mitológicas, nos cuenta la leyenda del príncipe Arturo de Inglaterra a través de los ojos y la mano de Merlín, el célebre mago. Con un detalle particular e importante, en la serie, el personaje de Merlín es aún joven, no es el anciano de sombrero y barba larga que estamos acostumbrados a ver en películas.

El principal escenario de la serie es la ciudad de Camelot, donde gobierna el rey de Uther Pendragon, padre de Arturo. Allí, por lamentables sucesos pasados, la magia está prohibida y se castiga con la muerte. Merlín llega a la corte para estudiar con un sabio médico, pero durante la trama, descubre que su verdadero destino es proteger a Arturo, futuro rey destinado a restaurar la magia.

Para cumplir su misión de proteger al príncipe Arturo, Merlín se convierte en su sirviente, haciendo todo lo posible y lo imposible, por ocultar sus poderes ante el príncipe, incluso, pasando por tonto muchas veces, lo que provoca situaciones humorísticas que se agradecen. Mientras tanto, Merlín enfrenta constantes amenazas mágicas de criaturas malvadas, brujas y también traiciones, en especial de Morgana, quien se transforma en una excelente villana.

"Merlín" está provista de todas las pasiones y emociones que pueden experimentar los seres humanos. Encontrarán en ella odio, rencor, envidia, egoísmo y sobre todo, amor y amores posibles e imposibles. La relación entre Arturo y Merlín es una de las cosas que más disfruté. El primero arrogante y noble, el segundo, torpe pero sabio. Ambos, forman el "equipo" perfecto para vivir muchas aventuras. Juntos crean una hermosa amistad construida con humor y momentos emotivos.

Esta serie contó con un elenco destacado: Colin Morgan (Merlín), Bradley James (Arturo), Katie McGrath (Morgana), Angel Coulby (Gwen), Richard Wilson (Gaius), Anthony Head (Uther Pendragon).
Uno de los personajes atípicos de la serie es El dragón Kilgharrah, un sabio animal que siempre le aseguró a Merlín que el futuro estaba escrito y nada se podía hacer para cambiarlo. Sin embargo, Arturo y Merlín lucharon siempre por definir y encontrar sus caminos.

"Merlín" nos deja un mensaje de justicia social a través de la crítica a la diferencia de clases. Ejemplo de ello es el romance "prohibido" de Arturo y Gwen, una sirvienta.

Otros atractivos de la serie son sus efectos tecnológicos (el dragón y otras criaturas); los impresionantes lugares y castillos que le dan ese aire medieval; así como su monumental banda sonora con su mezcla de misterio, aventura y cuentos de hadas.

Esta serie, juvenil y refrescante, fue un éxito mundial y durante la pandemia de la COVID 19, fue vista por muchas personas, yo entre ellas, como método para olvidar el aislamiento y también por su tono optimista y esperanzador.

A pesar de su final inesperado y controversial, posee un tono ideal para adolescentes, jovenes y adultos que buscan aventuras sin crudeza extrema, lejos de tiroteos y persecuciones automovilísticas. Pienso que merece la pena ser vista y disfrutada por muchos, principalmente por personas soñadoras e imaginativas. Se encuentra disponible en Netflix, por si alguno se anima.

Yo me quedo con la frase que algún crítico dijo sobre la serie: "Es la fábula de tu infancia, contada con cariño y un dragón que susurra verdades eternas".

Review of the series "Merlin"

Hello, my friends. It's a pleasure to greet you with my best wishes, as always. Today, I will talk to you about a series that I am sure many of my contemporaries watched.

During a period of my life, though not so much anymore, I dedicated myself to watching many series and films on television, and without fear of being mistaken, I can say that "Merlín" was one of the series I enjoyed the most. When I watched it back in 2010, I lived with my two children, who were still young and couldn’t read the subtitles. However, they would sit next to me to watch it and even enjoyed it. I always made sure to give them a general idea of what was happening. Moreover, they found that fantastical world very appealing, especially the talking dragon.

This spectacular series, filled with fantasy, magic, and mythological creatures, tells the legend of Prince Arthur of England through the eyes and actions of Merlin, the famous wizard. With an important and particular detail: in the series, the character of Merlin is still young, not the old man with a hat and long beard we are used to seeing in films.

The main setting of the series is the city of Camelot, ruled by King Uther Pendragon, Arthur’s father. There, due to unfortunate past events, magic is forbidden and punishable by death. Merlin arrives at the court to study with a wise physician, but during the plot, he discovers that his true destiny is to protect Arthur, the future king destined to restore magic.
To fulfill his mission of protecting Prince Arthur, Merlin becomes his servant, doing everything possible and impossible to hide his powers from the prince, even often playing the fool, which leads to humorous and appreciated situations. Meanwhile, Merlin constantly faces magical threats from evil creatures, witches, and betrayals, especially from Morgana, who becomes an excellent villain.

"Merlín" is filled with all the passions and emotions that human beings can experience. You will find in it hatred, resentment, envy, selfishness, and above all, love—both possible and impossible. The relationship between Arthur and Merlin is one of the things I enjoyed the most. The former is arrogant and noble, the latter clumsy but wise. Together, they form the perfect "team" to live out many adventures. They build a beautiful friendship filled with humor and touching moments.

This series featured an outstanding cast: Colin Morgan (Merlin), Bradley James (Arthur), Katie McGrath (Morgana), Angel Coulby (Gwen), Richard Wilson (Gaius), Anthony Head (Uther Pendragon).

One of the unique characters in the series is the dragon Kilgharrah, a wise animal who always assured Merlin that the future was written and nothing could be done to change it. However, Arthur and Merlin always fought to define and find their own paths.

This youthful and refreshing series was a worldwide success, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was watched by many people, including myself, as a way to forget about isolation and uplift our spirits with its optimistic and hopeful tone.

Despite its unexpected and controversial ending, it has an ideal tone for teenagers, young adults, and adults seeking adventures without excessive grittiness, far from shootouts and car chases. I think it is worth watching and enjoying by many, especially by dreamy and imaginative people. It is available on Netflix, in case anyone feels tempted.

Saben esa sensación de recordar partes de una película que te gustó tanto que sin importar los años sigues sintiendo la misma emoción y sonríes con solo recordarla. Eso me sucede con La Suite Francesa, no soy de ver muchas películas de época pero cuando ví está me encantó de una manera que sentí que es de las mejores películas —segun yo— de este género tan increíble. Ayer tuve la oportunidad de conseguir en Youtube la película y ya que no recordaba tan bien la trama la volví a ver, también para dejarles mi reseña y compartirla con ustedes. 🎥

Hello Movies & Tv movie buffs, I hope you are feeling great today ☺️. You know that feeling of remembering parts of a movie that you liked so much that no matter the years you still feel the same emotion and smile just remembering it. That happens to me with The French Suite, I am not one to watch a lot of period movies but when I saw this one I loved it in a way that I felt it is one of the best movies -according to me- of this amazing genre. Yesterday I had the chance to get the movie on Youtube and since I didn't remember the plot so well I watched it again, also to leave you my review and share it with you. 🎥

La Suite Francesa está basada en la historia escrita por Irène Némirovsky, autora de origen ucraniano y judío, escribió esta novela durante la ocupación nazi en Francia, antes de ser deportada a Auschwitz, donde falleció. Con suerte se pudo encontrar este texto que permaneció desaparecido por mucho tiempo y que luego se convertiría en un gran relato de lo que se vivía en la época de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. La película proyecta la historia de Lucile Angellier (Michelle Williams) una mujer que vive en una casa acomodada junto a su suegra mientras espera a su esposo que se fue en un viaje, y como de alguna manera la vida la une con Bruno von Falk (Matthias Schoenaerts) un militar alemán que se queda a vivir en su casa mientras están en medio de la tensión de la guerra.

The French Suite is based on the story written by Irène Némirovsky, an author of Ukrainian and Jewish origin, who wrote this novel during the Nazi occupation in France, before being deported to Auschwitz, where she died. Luckily, it was possible to find this text, which remained missing for a long time and later became a great account of what was happening at the time of the Second World War. The film projects the story of Lucile Angellier (Michelle Williams) a woman who lives in a well-to-do house with her mother-in-law while waiting for her husband who left on a trip, and how somehow life brings her together with Bruno von Falk (Matthias Schoenaerts) a German military man who stays to live in her house while they are in the middle of the tension of the war.

Lucile es una mujer que le apasiona la música y que sabe tocar el piano aunque en su hogar no está permitido hacerlo hasta que llegue su esposo, al menos así lo dicto su suegra. Esto la mantiene en constante estrés y vigilia por parte de ella quien no la deja sola a menos que sea necesario. Para Lucile es angustiante ver qué los problemas iban en aumento y que no tenía razón de por qué su esposo no regresaba, además se hacía casa vezas dificil el convivir en el pueblo mientras los militares ejercían su poder y hasta abusaban de este para mostrarse superiores. Mientras pasa el tiempo se van haciendo cada vez más frecuentes la estadías de los alemanes dentro de las casas cómo forma de proyectar su poder ante el pueblo y es ahí cuando conoce al militar Bruno von Falk y las cosas se empiezan a complicar para ambos ya que empiezan a tener sentimientos románticos.

Lucile is a woman who is passionate about music and knows how to play the piano although in her home she is not allowed to do so until her husband arrives, at least that is what her mother-in-law dictated. This keeps her under constant stress and vigilance on the part of her mother-in-law who does not leave her alone unless necessary. For Lucile it is distressing to see that the problems were increasing and that she had no reason why her husband did not return, in addition it was becoming increasingly difficult to live in the town while the military exercised their power and even abused it to show their superiority. As time goes by, the Germans stay more and more frequently in the houses as a way of projecting their power to the people and that is when she meets the military man Bruno von Falk and things start to get complicated for both of them as they begin to have romantic feelings.

La película refleja de manera certera lo que se vivió en una época en la que la Guerra era la única forma de vida para muchos personas que tal vez no lograron sobrevivir cómo la mujer que escribió el texto en el cual fue basada la película. Se puede apreciar que fue una época sumamente difícil, no solo por las muertes sino por las familias que quedaron con los estragos de la postguerra. El escenario esta lleno de cultura y de elementos que reflejan la época cómo la forma de vestirse, de pensar, la vida que cada uno llevaba y la manera en la que enfrentaron ese momento histórico tan cruel.

The film accurately reflects what was experienced at a time when the war was the only way of life for many people who perhaps did not manage to survive, like the woman who wrote the text on which the film was based. You can see that it was an extremely difficult time, not only because of the deaths but also because of the families that were left with the ravages of the postwar period. The scenery is full of culture and elements that reflect the era, such as the way of dressing, the way of thinking, the life that each one led and the way in which they faced such a cruel historical moment.

La actuación de Michelle Williams fue excelente y es una de las muchas películas que he disfrutado de ella, tanto por su forma de actuar cómo su manera tan humana de representar un personaje que requiere de valentía y de aprender a llevar otra piel, una dónde el mundo no era un lugar justo y además donde tenía que reprimir sus deseos como mujer mientras va conociendo a fondo al enigmático Bruno von Falk. Matthias Schoenaerts también es un gran actor, tiene otras películas cómo Disorder que me han gustado sobre todo por su forma de expresarse en personajes complicados y con una historia oscura. La química de ambos fue increíble e hizo muy creíble su enamoramiento en medio del conflicto que conlleva estar con el enemigo y mucho más creer que se puede amar a alguien que está prohibido dentro de las leyes sociales.

Michelle Williams' performance was excellent and it is one of the many films I have enjoyed her, both for her acting and her very human way of portraying a character that requires courage and learning to wear another skin, one where the world was not a fair place and also where she had to repress her desires as a woman while she gets to know the enigmatic Bruno von Falk. Matthias Schoenaerts is also a great actor, he has other movies like Disorder that I liked especially for his way of expressing himself in complicated characters with a dark story. The chemistry of both was incredible and made their falling in love very believable in the midst of the conflict that comes with being with the enemy and much more believing that you can love someone who is forbidden within the social laws.

Está pelicula fue dirigida por Saul Dibb, quien nos enseña que a través del caos existió una historia más allá de las guerras y las diferencias donde el amor fue parte importante de la supervivencia, y que además la música siendo uno de los elementos principales —y por el cual ambos empiezan a tener un romance—, demostrando que la música es un gran medio de enlazar a las personas sobre todo cuando ambas se encuentra teniendo sentimientos encontrados y esto hace que se unan aún más, recordando que el amor muchas veces aparece en los momentos que menos pensamos y tal vez en la época equivocada para los protagonistas. Pueden encontrarla en Netflix o PrimeVideo, también en Youtube subtitulada al español con el nombre de La Suite Francesa.

This movie was directed by Saul Dibb, who shows us that through the chaos there was a story beyond wars and differences where love was an important part of survival, and also music being one of the main elements -and by which both begin to have a romance-, showing that music is a great way to link people especially when both are having mixed feelings and this makes them come together even more, remembering that love often appears in the moments we least think and perhaps at the wrong time for the protagonists.
